  1. ...I really hate it when people say this. Pretty much the only time this is valid is if someone were to collide with you, but then I would still say you should have seen them coming and anticipated them hitting you by keeping your head on a swivel. If I die from skydiving, I will be pissed because I could have avoided it. If I do EVERYTHING right, I will not die.
  2. ??? Your canopy under your control = your fault. That's an expensive way to learn a basic lesson - don't put your gear down until you're back in the packing area... Wow...you are a bitch. Sucks man. Could have happened to anyone.
  3. That's what I was figuring. Just sucks because I keep saying "I'll be out this weekend..." then the weekend comes around and it still hasn't drained. These knee things take time! God damn.
  4. In business, sometimes you have to spend a dollar to make a dollar. I'm not educated in this arena of the skydiving industry, but hosting nationals brings on A LOT of attention and advertisement for DZ. Smart move for USPA.
  5. Figured there's gotta be someone on here that has had this happen to them... Had a hard landing on my canopy and landed straight down on my knee pretty hard. So far, I got an MRI (didn't show anything torn) and was told by the ortho doc and physical therapist that I "bruised the cartilage, but didn't tear it." It has been 6 weeks and fluid continues to build up inside the knee joints. And I haven't jumped or done anything "high impact" since the accident; just physical therapy. Any advise on healing time? Also, should I press the doc about getting it drained and injected with cortisone?
  6. That was nice....Mr. Bill + Camera Helmet + RSL connected ...And...what's your point? Besides doing a Mr. Bill, who cares is he's wearing a modern side-mounted camera helmet and an RSL.
  7. As far as gear, etc... this doesn't apply. As far as other people trying to kill me, yes, I agree.
  8. f'ing tight!! Haha, I used to have a J2 and when freeflying the main flap would pop open if I didn't have that closing loop super tight. I used to have mine where the closing loop would barely come up and out of the last grommet...hope that helps a little.
  9. ...stfu. You sound like a whining girl.
  10. Not exactly a brilliant comment. I understand what you are saying intuitively, but the hacky has never caused me any problems in that regard.
  11. God, I hope no one falls for these stupid scams. Anytime I read an email with horrible english that mentions he has a friend...DELETE.
  12. Great openings. Fun to fly. Great flare. ZPX material is awesome, and doesn't take away any performance or change the flight characteristics.
  13. It's a freakin G4, what else you can you say? In my mind, top rigs on the market are the G4; Odyssey; Micron; but who feels like waiting 4 months for a new container? NOT ME. No worries about anything when wearing this rig. It's super comfy. Who else can deliver a new custom rig to your doorstep in 4 weeks? Definitely not Javelin or Vector.
  14. My first rig (used) came with a sil 170...I didn't like it. Canopy had about 800 jumps on it, but the openings were brisk and good luck getting back from long spots. It didn't have a lot of forward drive. When I purchased a fully ZP canopy I never looked back.

    Skydive Taft

Kick ass Dropzone that I call my home DZ now. Otter loads turn till sunset on weekends, and cesna loads during the week. Freefly Dropzone for the most part. Altitude to 13,500 every load, but its not uncommon to get 14,000. Really friendly vibe where everyone is looking to do jumps with newbies, etc... Not a "skygod" kind of place, and there are tons of talented freeflyers and belly-flyers with high jump numbers.
  16. Thank you for clarifying many things
  17. Not true. Other manufacturers have built harnesses using the harness ring as a junction for the laterals and MLW. Some change the junction just depending on the size of harness/container combo. Thanks for clarifying that.
  18. Here's a question: Most rigs have the laterals sewn onto the MLW, but on the G4, the laterals are sewn onto the hip rings. With a fully articulated harness, could this be the problem?
  19. Picture of a custom fitted G4 in a sitfly position.
  20. It might be okay for you, but not me. Either the rig in the photo does not fit correctly or the legstraps are not tightened down properly...and when sitflying it becomes very apparent. If your rig floating off your back that far doesn't concern you, you might want to reconsider... Edited to add: I see lots of G4s that fit the owner just fine. I'm not so sure that what you point out is actually a "G4 problem"... Thanks for the input. That seems to be the consensus, referring to custom fitted rigs only, some fit fine and some don't. It seems to me that a lot of people run into a problem with the fully articulated harnesses. And less people run into a problem when they get the "tight fit" option.
  21. And good on you for bringing a potential problem to light. However, up to this point I don't think you've made a good case to support your hypothesis. Your factual evidence doesn't account for a few variables. You've seen people's custom rigs lift off their backs (so have I - both Mirage and non-Mirage). But you still need to account for JP's question about how you know these people were measured correctly. If they were measured by the manufacturer, then it may be an issue. If not, that seems to be the first weak link in the chain. Esp. since several others have volunteered that their custom-made Mirage G4's have no such problem. I just got a Liquid Sky suit, custom-made for me, and had Julio measure me. It fits like a glove. A friend just got a Deepseed suit, custom-made for her, and had a seamstress measure her for it. The arms came back too short. Based on this factual evidence, should we assume that Deepseed has an issue with making arms too short on their suits? **BTW, never owned a Mirage rig, don't work for Liquid Sky , and not trying to flame you - just trying to point out that while opening up dialogue is good, we need to address all the possible links in the chain to see what's failing. You are comparing apples-to-oranges, and anyone that knows about measuring rigs knows that it's ok to be off by a few centimeters. That difference would not cause a 6in. to 1ft. separation. I mentioned before that these rigs were NOT self-measured. Anyways, I have received a few PM's that have confirmed it's the geometry of the G4, and this has been confirmed by OTHER manufacturers.
  22. You're absolutely right that Mirage would do everything possible to take care of any customer issues; that's not what we're talking about. And I'm not on here to gripe. I have asked for people's first hand experience and have offered FACTUAL EVIDENCE combined with the question: "is anyone having this problem?" That's not griping, man. That's opening a discussion for people to see if there is a problem that needs to be addressed.
