  1. Oh man... I'm not on here to just bash a manufacturer, and my previous post asking for a consensus and first hand experience should confirm that. Mirage makes a damn good rig, but many people are having this problem and there are NO POSTS anywhere revolving around this issue. And it is an issue for freeflyers.
  2. Didn't contact manufacturer; just wanted to get a consensus. At Perris, the consensus is that these things lift big time. I have seen videos where they have lifted off the persons back 1 - 1 1/2 feet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWfJZW9PoPU Check out 1:45 (1/2 foot seperation) and 2:11 (AT LEAST 1 foot of seperation) I know both of those guys and they were both custom rigs.
  3. I talked to the owners and they were all custom made for them. Also, the rigs that seemed to have the most problems were the fully articulated ones. As was mine. Again, how do you know the rigs were measured right? Who did the measurements? Rigs were measured by Square One and other reputable dealers. No self-measured or second-hand rigs.

  5. Does anyone have anything constructive and useful to add to this discussion? Anyone with first-hand experience?
  6. It's funny how not a lot of people talk about it, but The Mirage G4 lifts off the back when in a sitfly position. Yes, I'm talking about correctly measured rigs. I'm pissed too...I ordered a G4 not too long ago. I noticed this problem with the G4 in a couple of videos, and then I talked to the owners and they confirmed it. HOW COULD ANYONE SAY THAT THESE RIGS ARE GREAT FOR FREEFLYING??
  7. Upon arriving, I was suspicious of the place after reading reviews on DZ.com. To my surprise, front office staff was really cool and a female tandem instructor inspected my gear -- she was really down to earth. Then I started to hear the jaws theme as a young instructor with an accent creeped up on me and began 20 questions, then giving me random advice that wasn't welcomed...skygod. The next weekend I brought a load of tandems for the school. Great thing was that they did give me $10 for each one. Bad thing was that every time I even tried to talk to a friend doing a tandem, a couple of the instructors would look at me like he I thought was a complete a-hole. Nice facilities that are clean and they have an indoor packing area. They have one twin otter. They do two passes; one at 10,500 for tandems and then about 13,000-14,000 for fun jumpers. that was cool getting extra altitude. And they're a little more lenient than my home DZ towards jumping with cloud coverage which was cool. Not sure if it was because the time of season I was jumping there, but there weather in Texas is totally unpredictable.
  8. Not really a mystery...hard pull or unable to locate the deployment handle because the harness shifted.
  9. Nope. This is a hot debate and one that has pretty clear choice to me. I remember at 200 jumps I thought I had graduated from having to use an RSL...man I was naive.
  10. I can think of one recent incident where a jumper had a clean cutaway and was unable to deploy his reserve. RSL for me.
  11. I just wanted to see how common this is. Haha, I don't smoke, but the longer I'm in this sport the more I find out that a lot of people have no problem with lighting up before skydiving.
  12. wanna break your ass on my 150? I'll sell it you for $3000....what a steal! It's a protype that is too small for you, but it flies like a big canopy.
  13. yeah, fuck it I'll just keep it. Never know when I'll be doing back-to-backs and the old rig has a Pilot canopy in it versus the new rig having an elliptical...never know when I'll do a wingsuit jump. I don't think the market is good for gear right now anyways.
  14. Just ordered all new gear w/ canopies and now I'm stuck with that question...should I get rid of my old rig or just keep it? If I kept it, I'd have to buy another cypres for the new rig..arghh $$$ What's the market like for used gear right now?
  15. Dead on. I mean...this is fucking Dramazone.com where EVERYTHING has been rehashed and new threads are started on subjects that have had been threaded over and over. If someone wants to ask the question AGAIN and start and new thread...then add a response like "You can further research this question through previous threads as well. With that being said..."
  16. What a troll! Complete bullshit. Haha, Square 1 said the same thing to me when I asked why they didn't carry RAWA helmets...oh wait, they were saying that because I was taking my money to someone that did.
  17. Get a RAWA...you'll be sorry you didn't. Haha. Cookie and Bonehead helmets just look AWKWARD and very CONEHEAD looking.
  18. Wanted to get some opinions... Considering getting the teflon front riser loops with my new Mirage G4 and was wondering if it's worth it. I'm not on the swoop tour, but I have begun my progression in learning to swoop. The question I have is: Do the teflon loops make it a hassle getting the risers to lay nicely into the container? Does the container bulge out on the sides because of the teflon loops?
  19. love my neptune. the thing that I like the most versus my previous altimeter (alti-2 galaxy) is that it's a lot smaller so it easily can be mounted on the wrist, rather than attching at the fingers as well; the log book is awesome because I always forget to manually log my jumps in my book; and the MPH thing that shows different speeds throughout the jump; also the altitude displayed is much more easily readable than the VISO. The only thing I have noticed since purchasing this thing is that the battery life is half way gone!! WTF!!
  20. I met Howard Haig at a Christmas party down here in Newport Beach a while back. And ever since meeting him, the only thing I looked forward to around the holidays was talking to Howard and Todd at the annual Christmas party. He really had the power to make you feel like an old friend immediately after meeting him. Condolences to Todd. Blue skies Howard.
  21. I have to relocate to Bakersfield in 2 months because of a new job and was wondering what the freefly scene is like at Taft? Also, I heard that there is a small Cessna DZ in Bakersfield, anyone know of this?
  22. Where's the best placed to get measured for a rig if you're going through an internet dealer?
  23. Nice. That's what I figured but wanted to clarify. Also, perfect that Chutingstar responded because that's where I'll b ordering from next month :)
  24. Duane Hall does a camp at Lake Isabella north of LA.
  25. Looking to get my first elliptical canopy (Aerodyne Vision) and had a question about downsizing and wanted to get some feedback. I'll be transitioning from a Pilot 150 (WL 1.4) that I have put about 200 jumps on. I feel very proficient with this canopy and feel as though I have hit a wall trying to squeeze more performance out of it. I'm looking at transitioning to a Vision and downsizing down to a 132 (WL 1.59) or a Vision 124 (WL 1.69). I did have a chance to Demo the Vision 140 and put 15 jumps on it. I know the Vision 140 isn't loaded enough for what i am looking for in a canopy right now, but I'm thinking the 124 would be to aggressive of a downsize. Any one have thoughts on this?
