  1. I expect a lot more #2 from Rush after this: "In 136 years of global temperature data, we are in uncharted territory. This new milestone follows the hottest summer on record, the hottest start to a year on record, the hottest 12 months on record, the hottest calendar year on record (2014) and the hottest decade on record." Bloomberg But what do I know?
  2. It will be an important issue in the presidential campaign, and will peel away support from the conservative base. The Rs will downplay their interference and denial, but it won't do any good. That's my bet. But what do I know?
  3. I'm waiting for them to point out that most of the excess CO2 in the atmosphere RIGHT NOW was put there by US. So what are you doing about getting US on the ball? It is a global problem better dealt with by action than finger pointing. Seeing that it IS a problem is a necessary first step, apparently, in some parts of the world. I think it's happening now, and soon to be a dead issue. Well, for most people anyway. But what do I know?
  4. OK, I'll put it like this: If given the choice to be either with something or against it, I choose not to align with any cause I see as hateful, even a little bit. Further, I will call out evil when I see it. I condemn others if I think they deserve it, sure. Now remember that I said GW might not be evil, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. But what do I know?
  5. You would lose that bet, because I try to keep up with the wacko sites too. By watching the cherries being picked, it's easy to see how people are misled. I'm not going to try and convince you or anybody else, but your ridiculous denial is based on deliberate misinformation being spread by big coal and oil interests. They want to squeeze the last bucks out of their products come hell or high water. To add insult to injury, they don't even want to share the wealth of their plunder with anybody else. If you are one of them, it makes it easier to understand, I guess, but not really. I see what has happened to this planet, what is happening now, and have a pretty good idea of what is going to happen as a result of human activity. My bet is that deniers will be abandoning the cause, soon, and by the presidential election even the Rs will be avoiding your position like a case of herpes. But what do I know?
  6. Is that a PA? Just asking... But what do I know?
  7. Geographically correct, but I believe this will mark a turning point. It's not just weather this time, and the facts are adding up. Deniers are doomed to extinction. Unfortunately, WIFs will remain, for a while. No Amazon, not talking about you. But what do I know?
  8. LOL Yeah, not you, surprise! But what do I know?
  9. If good = white and evil = black, what shade of gray are you OK with? It's not hard for me: hate = evil. Look for the hate. So you agree with the statement, "You are either with us, or against us!"? I remember Bush making that statement and thinking what an idiot he was for making it. I was against both Bush wars, which I saw as evil, (and stupid.) That answer your question? But what do I know?

  11. Climate actually. And in the real world, I think this storm will cause a disaster with real pain and loss of life. I am sorry for those that will suffer and take no pleasure in advancing my cause with their loss. Had we taken serious issues seriously a long time ago, we might have lessened the effects of human destruction of the environment. The facts were there, as is the record of our response. But what do I know?
  12. It seems like there is a good case that 9/11 should have been prevented, and some even believe the govt participated in it. Without getting too far out on the fringe about it, I will note the massive loss of personal freedom that resulted from the attack. Also, please note the profit statements of Halliburton. I suspect that Cheney, if he didn't know it was coming, certainly was able to advance his agendas afterwards. I thought they did a masterful job of portraying GWB as actually being stupid enough to not see it coming. For me the choice is between incompetence and outright evil, and in my opinion they should stick with stupid. But what do I know?
  13. I predict this storm will cut a path of death and destruction through the heart of denier fantasy land. I'm quite alarmed! Reality intersects even the strangest lands from time to time, and I'm thinking maybe this one will get through. But what do I know?
  14. I had a case where the rider didn't get off as planned at the agreed signal, or when I gave a good shake. I tossed her off, but ended up pulling lower than I wanted. She said she saw the signals but was having too much fun. Don't do that. PS: GoPro. I don't have a lanyard on mine. It won't kill me to lose it. But what do I know?
  15. I did one tandem then AFF soon after. I don't think another tandem would have improved anything for me, and in fact the one worked against me on my landing. Tandems concentrate on feet up, but you want your feet underneath you when landing your own parachute. Other than that it was a benefit in the other areas mentioned, and did help my progression. I recommend people do at least one, if anyone asks me. Tandems and wind tunnels are great introductions to skydiving, and valuable learning tools, just remember that that aren't the whole thing, like the first jump is. Good luck and have fun. But what do I know?
  16. Hold on. I'm not saying I created the photo, but the bone of contention is who owns it. If I pay Spot to take a picture of me, and clearly specify that I will take possession of said photo after paying him an agreed amount, then would I not own it? But what do I know?
  17. This looks like a photo of this guy's jump. He probably paid for the photo, so IMO, he owns it. If he grabbed it from a website that CD posted it to, then not so much. So if he buys the pic, then it's his. That's not at all how copyright works. The photo belongs to the photographer or the DZ, depending on agreements. The right to VIEW and DISPLAY the copy goes to the person in the photo. When you buy a song on iTunes, you do not own the song. You've purchased a license to listen to it whenever you want. I agree. But I submit that this is an area that is up for contention, and entirely dependent on prior agreements. Say I, as a jumper, pay you to take my picture. Now I claim that I own the pic, and even want to copyright it. If the prior agreements we made are in line with this, then it is mine, right? But what do I know?

  19. You landed, you lived. What do you want from me? Knowing me, I would have landed it too. I landed one with my slider half way up the lines. Should I of cut away from that one? Heck no. I landed, I lived. Now, had either one of us wiped out, opinions may differ. But the bottom line is we all makes our choices and takes our consequences. You did OK this time, and with any luck will continue to do so. But what do I know?
  20. Thanks Simon. There ya go, want to go to one of the best WS events ever? Let me know. But what do I know?
  21. I have just accepted a job that will prevent me from attending. Damn. If anyone wants my slot you can have it, with conditions: You have to show up, and you have to have fun. So Simon, is this acceptable? If so, any wingsuit fliers send me a PM that you want it. I'll pick one. F&D 4 was the only one I went to, and I was really looking forward to this one. I know it will be a blast. But what do I know?
  22. I don't think he was talking about deployment at all. It's about grabbing the grippers after you let go of them. Almost all my flights are in suits with grippers, most of the time I'm holding on to them, but when I let go it's usually really easy to grab them again. If certain positions are difficult for somebody, they just have to adjust. My first thought was a previous injury, but it could just be awkward for someone to do. In any case, I'd spend some time on jumps just to practice grabbing without causing pain, so that difficult hand positions will be automatically avoided, (muscle memory...) Catching grippers quickly is a good skill to work on if he's having trouble with it I think. But what do I know?
  23. 8 years ago I watched a youtube video. A man jumped off a cliff and flew away. Since then, I dedicated a good part of my life to wingsuit flying, and if I sacrificed anything getting here, it was worth it. But what do I know?
  24. Mine too. I know some like to change theirs depending on the type of jump, but I never change mine. I don't look for it to tell me to do anything either, it simply tells me when I reach certain altitudes. It has trained my eyes quite well, and if I don't hear the first one at 5500' I'm looking at my altimeter to see why. But what do I know?
  25. All good for me. If an authorized person says no cam, I'll hand mine over in a heartbeat. But what do I know?
