  1. Flying in a wingsuit is flying, my body tells me so. In fact, I think tracking is flying too, sort of, mostly. But put on a wingsuit, even a little one, And you can fly! This was my opinion 10 years ago, before my first flight, and it is my opinion now. You can call it a squirrel suit, and not be wrong, but to me, it is flying, and in the truest sense of the word; I believe you can get a better feel of human flight with a wingsuit than any other way. What do you think? But what do I know?
  2. If you are good enough, you can jump in bare feet. I have not, but I've seen it done. But what do I know?
  3. For me, the most suspicious aspect of the whole thing was Jack Ruby taking out Oswald. I didn't buy the story that a mafia hit man was so overcome with grief that he killed Oswald then, and I still don't. He was paid for that hit, I think, so who paid? Ruby never talked, and Oswald never could. What were they hiding? But what do I know?
  4. My visits to zhills were amazing. Everyone there seemed to be part of the family, and they made me feel that I was too. I'm sorry for your loss. But what do I know?
  5. I agree. I suspect that rather than "deeply respecting the troops," he thinks they are dumb chumps. But what do I know?
  6. While I agree that the statement can be said to comfort, it should only be used by someone that has 'signed up' himself. President Bone spur does not meet that standard, and coming from his mouth it was insulting. So he claimed he never said it. And could prove it. instead, it is proved that he did. So he attacks; never admit a lie. This has devolved from a reality show to the gong show. It's time for the hook. But what do I know?
  7. Taking a different tack, Matt Tabbi discusses if he's a criminal or insane: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/features/taibbi-madness-of-donald-trump-removal-25th-amendment-w504149 It's pretty long, but had some good parts: "Trump is no malfunction. He's a perfect representation of who, as a country, we are and always have been: an insane monster. Frankly, we're lucky he's not walking around using a child's femur as a toothpick. When it's not trembling in terror, the rest of the world must be laughing its ass off. America, land of the mad pig president. Shove that up your exceptionalism. " But what do I know?
  8. I can remember that time; Watts Riot, War protests, it was pretty bad. People started thinking the only way to fix things were to blow them up. It was more young vs old, and less racial, at least on the young side. I was on that side, and remember thinking if we could prevail it would be a better world, with less emphasis on profit and production. More cooperation and love. The other side didn't want to change anything. Their attitude was simple: Love it or leave it. I thought once they died off it really would be a better world, but they never did. Their spawn is even worse. Same old same old. Freedom is a one way street. Anything they don't like is a horrible affront to humanity and must be stopped at all cost. They must be free to dictate the sex life of others. The USA must be free to impose its will on the rest of the world. They will decide what health care is appropriate for women. Freedom of religion means you can go to any church they approve of. Law and order should be free to have their way with the 'wrong' people. Now, Trump should be free to make america great for them. Some think the country has gone to hell since they had gay marriage 'forced' on them. They should be free to prevent people that they don't even know from doing what they want. They should be forced to marry a man, just to show them what true freedom isn't. No, things aren't as bad, yet, but we are on a bad road to a worse place, and a maniac is driving the bus. Give it time. But what do I know?
  9. It broke off when he landed. Thank god he didn't lose the camera and that riveting footage. Capturing that tongue action was certainly worth the risk. But what do I know?
  10. Do you think the last test was an H-bomb? From what I've read, it seems like a very good possibility, due to the power registered by the explosion. In fact, some suspect an earlier test was too, but there is disagreement there. In any case, the slope under our handbasket seems steeper every day. Meanwhile trump is greasing the wheels. The other side is just as bad, if not worse. Do you agree? And if so, do you think it is because of stupidity, or just downright evil? But what do I know?
  11. I believe their last test was an H-bomb. 100 megaton. They posted a picture of it, which if it really was the bomb they tested, would fit on a missile. As for China, I have serious doubts about NK being all that much of a renegade for them. If they were really bothered by the situation they would have changed it already. Not to say they are happy with everything; they probably aren't. But they would rather that than having us on their border, via a unified Korea, and having a weaponized nut at their beck and call could be attractive. Their million man army of fanatics could come in handy, should it ever be needed, as well. We will see, and no doubt you are right if they come to see kim as a threat to their own well being, or survival itself... In any case, it may not be a good idea counting on external forces to save the day for us, as many of those forces, I'm afraid, would be all to happy to dance on our graves. Putin is another one, I suspect. But what do I know?
  12. Thank you. But what do I know?
  13. No. I stated it quite plainly. You benefit from old white man privilege in that Trump poses no threat to you. He's not a threat to old white men. In fact, he courts them. That doesn't mean he's not evil though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came_... As both an old white guy and a bleeding heart liberal with socialist leanings, I don't feel that trump wants anything to do with me. Heck, if he reads this thread, I'm done for. I hope you aren't making assumptions based on skin color. Sorry, couldn't resist. I like to attribute my success to my hard work and skill, but the fact is that blacks were not allowed in my field until I had already reached supervisor level. It was not until the early 80's that the first ones started showing up, and it was not easy then. It isn't now either. I'm talking about working offshore in the GOM. Hate is such a destructive force. I wish more people would fight back. My crew did, and were instrumental in that first black guy getting his chance. The riggers wanted him sent back without stepping foot on the barge, and the welders were in. The divers were not, and I was proud to lead the fight to give him a chance. 3 months later one of our riggers got in a fight with one from another barge that was badmouthing the guy. The whole crew jumped in. They still hated them, but not 'our' n*. Baby steps. Then there was the time I got on the board for the local swim club, at around the same time: First meeting: All you new board members need to understand the most important rule of this club; it's not written down, but don't ever forget: NO N*'s allowed. That was fun too. But what do I know?
  14. Yes, things could get very nasty if we were to do that without a very good reason. Not that we think we do, that some other very significant players do, especially China and Russia, which even China has enough nukes to theoretically at least, pretty much wipe us off the map. Russia surely can. Both countries, btw, have stated that a unilateral attack from us is unacceptable. They aren't screaming it and making up childish names for us, but we should still be listening. Having said that, if NK explodes an h-bomb in the pacific, that will probably be the end for them. Some presidents would be better at getting it done without blowing up the world, if any could. I truly can't imagine a worse one than trump. But what do I know?
  15. Oh, I know all about those wars; especially how I was sure it was a mistake to start either one of them. I was right then, not that I wanted to be. I pray I'm wrong now. I disagree with you about NK and China in a few ways: I don't think Kim is as crazy as our propaganda leads us to believe, and I don't think China dislikes him as much as they want us to believe. As for regime change, we have done it too many times for the wrong reasons. Iran is also considered an evil empire, but I think it's a problem of our own making. We overthrew their democratically elected government to install a brutal dictator to benefit oil companies. Now they burn our flag and we can't stand it. Evil bastards. We have been at war with somebody for almost my whole life, and yet none of them were really necessary. If any other country really was about to defeat us, we could just blow them up. We've never had to do that, but we've still blown up a lot of this world, and again, not always for the right reasons. Nukes are only good to deter war; they suck for actually fighting with them. We have been the supreme nuclear power this whole time, which meant we could ensure that any other country would lose in all out war with us. But we did not take that road. And because we did not, and others were not content to be ruled by us, they wanted what we had. Now, of course, many do. This is why we are sitting on a powder keg, and all out war will set it off. I've read that Russia has 100 nukes targeting Washington DC, and we have the same for Moscow. I don't know how thin the hair is on the triggers, but probably a hell of a lot thinner than any of us want. I worry about what the world will be like if both sides pull their triggers. What will happen next? This leads me to believe that war is just impossible, and the sooner we realize it the better. Some of us do already, but some even now are beating the drums. I just read a 'think piece' about why we should attack NK as soon as possible. Yes, they may one day destroy the world, but that does not mean we need to destroy it now. I believe any attack against either NK or Iran would be evil on our part, and no bleating about saving the world will change that. There may be some scenarios that don't destroy everything immediately if we do attack, but some do, and it's not worth the risk. I don't think we will gain a damn thing anyway. Do I trust trump not to do it? Do I think he is smart enough, or good enough, to lead the world at this time? I guess that's a rhetorical question. Here is an article that supports my position. http://www.salon.com/2017/09/24/facing-trumps-threats-why-in-gods-name-would-north-korea-disarm/ But what do I know?
  16. Some things should fall into the 'socialist' realm things that we all really need, and should not be given to 'capitalists' to exploit. Things that we all need. Like air, water, food, and yes, medical care. Roads too. If you give people the right to 'charge what the market will bear' to essentials. You make the equation unable to provide an answer. How much is your kid's live worth? We, as a society, have to prevent anyone, ever, from having to answer that, in the interests of 'capitalism.' On top of that, I think we can provide quality health care to everybody, for less money than we are currently spending for less than everybody. Let's start by taking millionaires and billionaires out of the equation If we quit paying them for health care, and instead concentrate on peoples' health, who knows what we can do. But what do I know?
  17. I was hoping to get back to this 'perceived threat' thing. It sure looks like anything you perceive as a threat is a real threat, while everybody else is worried about fake threats. Like somebody crashing into them in freefall, rendering them incapable of pulling their handles. Leaving them dead. Unless, just maybe they have an AAD, That just maybe saves them. No need, with sufficient control. Good for you to be able to control stuff that us mere snowflakes can't. Gotta say, my friend, that I perceive dangers that you don't. AAD's are a case in point, altho not what I want to talk about here. So on to North Korea, an issue that gets hotter every day, thanks to the fact that we have two extremely , fill in the blank, (leaders?) There is absolutely no need for either the U.S.A. or North Korea to destroy the world at this time. Let me repeat that: WE DON'T NEED TO DO IT? And they don't either. Here is why: If you think you need to blow up the world to prevent someone else from blowing up the world... You are evil. At this time, it's a tossup if somebody is going to throw the match that ignites what nobody wants to see. Think about that. And we have trump Not good to pick an evil captain for our team, if he is indeed evil. Last I checked, that was the majority vote. So here we are. If the outcome is all out war, is that going to be ok with trump supporters? What if you are as wrong about trump as you are about everything else? But what do I know?
  18. Which BTW is precisely what Trump is doing in a number of cases. You do realize that; yes? Yes. In fact he fits every example I've given. Old story about a guy that gets one wish from a genie. Only problem, anything he gets, his worst enemy gets twice as much. Ask for a million, he gets 2 million. so the guy's wish is to have one eye gouged out. another variation is to be beaten half to death. that's evil too. But what do I know?
  19. Nobody, just reflecting on the nature of evil. I don't want to kill anybody, and work hard to not hate anybody either. I provided other examples, and an article. The question in my mind is not about trump, it's the enablers and collaborators. Are they evil too? I think there are a lot of people that know what a pos trump is, yet support him anyway. Rich guys with way more class, money, and power than he ever had - to get a tax cut and get richer Rich guys that are a lot smarter than him - to gut regulations and get richer Politicians - doing what they are told by rich guys 'Pius' christians - to ban abortion racists and haters - for obvious reasons Idiots - just because It's not up to me to judge, which is good for trump supporters, because: I think of trump as a pied piper playing a song of anger and hate he got the rats dancing in the streets now what? But what do I know?
  20. I see your point. My first suit was a Tony Intro, and I did 125 jumps with it. At the time I was 6'1 and 210; at least I was mostly flying by myself, haha. But I was tearing it up. Flips, rolls, crazy exits. Learning. When I got a Raptor, I was ready. I did the same thing with that suit, but it was easy, mostly. That's why Jarno is right. It's really important to do more than just fly it when it's going right, and a big suit is not the place to learn. But, I did it anyway, got a sm1 at 250. I could have never got a big suit and had a world of fun. Been a better flier. Not have been as scared. But I didn't, and the early work kept me alive, and for me the best feeling in the world is floating around in a big wingsuit. But what do I know?
  21. I think it is evil to hate someone so bad that you want to kill them, when you don't even know them. But what do I know?
  22. My biggest fear about trump is that he will get us into a war. I perceive that to be a real threat. Bush 2 did that, for no good reason, and I think that was his greatest mistake. But this guy is so much worse. I don't have to ask; I've made my decision. Based on my observations since being in the army in 1970, so I'm not that young, but yeah, I don't look a day over 65, I'm told. Young at heart anyway. Peace
  23. Masterful response! Love it how you demolish each and every point he makes without even mentioning one. Using the words delusion and irony put it over the top. Kudos But what do I know?
  24. I'd say not caring about the harm you're doing is pretty fuckin' evil. This is my problem with Ayn Rand's philosophy. "Evil, Complete Evil, More Evil..." A lot of discussions are about defining words; certainly this one. Well, doing harm and enjoying it is worse than doing it either by not noticing it, or constructing a reality where it's not harmful at all. The article I quoted states that an evil person is one that: "has no sense of morality whatsoever. That, you might say, is itself a measure of evil: the simple absence of a moral compass, the inability to value anything except power." The values they ignore being: "compassion, justice, love, curiosity about others and the world around them." Like I said, she's a philosopher. This part was easier to grasp: "In the end, what matters in determining evil is not the state of one’s soul, but the effects our actions have on the world we live in -- which is why having good intentions but not significantly acting on them is never enough. And here it is just unquestionable that what Donald Trump has done is evil. We all have our lists of least-favorite things he has done so far (though, mercifully, he hasn’t achieved as much as he would like). But what is absolutely clear is that Trump has made open and violent racism acceptable. Perhaps even worse, I fear, is that he has made it acceptable not to have values at all -- except grasping for power and money. I worry about the effect his example will have on young people who are already uncertain about whether or not any value but power and money is real. Unfortunately, so much in the culture tells us that we should be embarrassed to believe in ideals of goodness, justice and mercy." Good vs Evil = Love vs Hate Freedom of choice. The haters are making a lot of noise these days. Lord Cheeto has thrown down the gauntlet. He thinks he has an army. He's got the weapons for sure. Is he going to win? I don't think so. The problem with wars these days is that nobody wins. But what do I know?
  25. I think trump gets enjoyment from inflicting harm on anyone that crosses him, to the point that he does it even to his own disadvantage. He is quite clear about how he feels about this: Let no slight go unpunished. This core belief drives him to do idiotic things, granted.
