Becoming an AFF instructor-advice
cpoxon replied to pinkeyquiezo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't really see why you needed to create another account to ask the question, but never mind. Since you aren't using your regular account, I can't tell if you have a static-line rating or an FS coach rating. These would be a good start. AFF course examiners will emphasise mistakes made on the ground and not picked up. Getting experience as a static-line instructor will give you experience with teaching, making you more comfortable and familiar with what you are teaching so you are less likely to get caught out on a course, not to mention it will get you experience with actual students, for which there is no substitute. You will see everything students do and as they progress you can follow them out. The same with FS coaching. As for the USPA licences, as far as I'm aware the BPA licences are recognised for jumping in the US, but as soon as you start to talk about intructing, USPA licences are required. Wingsuit question(s) one gear related one form related
cpoxon replied to ScabbedWings's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Hey Steph, unless I misunderstand you, if you've been jumping for a while you should really know the answer to this question. Symmetry is important in skydiving and moreso in wingsuiting so you may have to compensate with the left arm a little, but 10% doesn't sound like much, one probably wouldn't even notice it. Here's a new one that is gaining ground in the UK Ground Control Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -
Those only cover death, loss of limbs or total disablement. Whilst big things a lot of other things can stop you working. Plus Extreme+ halved their death benefit after a few claims. They are good cheap skydiving life insurance but not much else. You need to talk to a PFA about critical illness/ injury cover including skydiving. Look up Chris Southworth on facebook. He jumps at hibaldstow and can help you out. Edit: don't forget, BPA insurance includes small death/ paralysis benefits also. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

It's alright, he's going to wear a neck brace. I wonder how this will affect his ability to go foetal? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Yes, Greg Gasson. He has a harness underneath his clothes and it attached to the rig harness. See Joe Jennings "Good Stuff" Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Did he also go foetal 5 feet above the target or roll into his back or however he is going to enter the boxes during these tests? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

I'm guessing that the "James Bond" thing is just a theme to make the opening ceremony exciting, but the actual jump would be done by a body-double substitute, not by Daniel Craig. A bit like "Larry the Cable Guy"? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

It is my understanding that he has or will get an exemption from the CAA to undertake the stunt, so it is nothing to do with the BPA, practically at least. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

URGENT....Apache owners, discontinue use of new handles
cpoxon replied to Tony-tonysuits's topic in Wing Suit Flying
"Presumably" is a polite British way of suggesting that is one of the things that should be done. No, I'm not good with it, which is why I forwarded the details to my NGB to ensure it was disseminated, even with the small chance there are modified suits in the UK and the people jumping them aren't intelligent enough to realise what a bad idea they are in their current configuration. URGENT....Apache owners, discontinue use of new handles
cpoxon replied to Tony-tonysuits's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Whilst designed for very experienced Wingsuit pilots, surely one would still be advised to explore the flight envelope of a new suit with as much altitude as possible i.e. from a plane, rather than from a fixed object. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -

Any idea how many (factory) modified Apaches are in the field? Presumably TS has contact details for every customer with modified suits and has contacted them personally? Still, they should contact the NGBs and publicatons as you say. Nothing to stop people contacting their own NGBs as well. The BPA has been made aware of the issue and the info should have been disseminated down to all DZs by now. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -

Leo Dickinson has kindly given the BPA permission to show the Wally Gubbins films at the AGM this year. The AGM is being held in the Premier Suite at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, BL6 6JW. We'll be showing as many of them as we can between the end of the official AGM business and 13:50. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
