  1. Well SkyJunkie I was on that path when I first started to jump solo but during an Accuracy competition I overestimated the wind and slammed into a tree then the ground and almost snapped my ankle. Luckily, I did not break anything but after that I told myself that I would take all the necessary steps so that I would never hurt myself again. So, when I return to the states I am gonna pick up my brand new rig and I am gonna pay to get the necessary canopy training. I am also gonna do alot of hop-n-pops so I can get to know my canopy intimately. 190 is the lowest that I will go. I don't care much for swooping. Sure, I think it looks cool but I love doing stuff during freefall. I may want to learn how to swoop later but for right now I am happy with learning how to freefly. Anyway, my accident has humbled me alot EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  2. SkyJunkie that is exactly what my plans were. But the only reason I went down in canopy size so drastically is because I lost roughly 50 pounds. The W/L difference is not that big. Everyone that I have talked to says that I should be good with the 190. I have even emailed a few ppl asking their advice about my wingloading and all say that I should be pretty good. I mean when I returb to the states I am gonna have to rent gear while my rig is being assembled so I am gonna do my recurrency on a 210 canopy. But, I won't return to the states until mid January of next year and I forsee that I will lose another 10-15 pounds which will put my exit weight around 210-215 and will drop my W/L to about 1.1:1 which will be closer to what I used to be at. Ultimately I feel as if I will be alright but hey I also plan on taking a canopy control class so I can get help with my landings and I plan on doing enough time under my canopy so I can get to know my canopy intimately. I am not gonna make the fatal mistake like most PPL and think I am a SKYGOD but I plan on taking all precautions and get as much education as I can so I can be a better skydiver EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  3. Well my exit weight will be about 225 and I ordered a 190 so it will be about 1.18:1 I used to jump a Navigator 240 and when I used to jump that canopy I weighed 40 lbs more than I do right now but my wing loading was about 1.12:1 with the Navigator. So, I believe that I will be just fine. The majority of my landings were standup except for a few that I slid in on my ass EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  4. My ? goes out to all the PPL that own or have even used a Sabre2. I know there are a fair # of reviews of the Sabre2 but I am curious as to what all of you out there think of the Sabre2 as far as a first canopy choice. I have ordered a Sabre2 and my previous experience has been with the PD Navigator. How much of a difference is there between the 2 canopies. I have never flown a Sabre2 so I don't have any means of comparing the 2 canopies EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  5. Not to take away from Skydive Store but when I was shopping for a company to order my equipment from I had narrowed my search down to 2 stores. Those stores were The Skydive Store and Sunshine Factory. Even though I received outstanding help from Skydive Store I decided to go with Sunshine Factory because they were closer to where I live. Even that said I really wish all companies offered such great customer service like the 2 I named. Things would be so much smoother if they were. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  6. Honestly bro, I know all companies will let you demo thany kind of main canopy and there are a few places that have special rigs set up where you can test out a reserve canopy. But, I don't think there is any company out there where you can demo a whole rig. I mean seriously if it existed everyone would try it EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  7. Hey Guys, I just bought the WINGS package from SUNSHINE FACTORY. I got most of the options that add more comfort as well as a Sabre2, PD reserve and a VIGIL AAD for $5500. Well, what I wanted to say was that if you don't want the canopies they offer with the bundle you can go with different canopies. I dealt with Joannie and she has been great this whole time. I originally ordered a Safire2 but the wait was almost six months so i decided to go with the Sabre2. Give tyhem a chance they are great people and there customer service is excellent EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  8. Hey Guys, as to the response of the wait time I IMO have chosen another equally great canopy and I was told the average wait time is 8 weeks. I canned the Icarus order and decided to go with the Sabre2. I don't feel as if I have compromised wait time for quality. PD and Icarus both make great canopies and since the customer service I received from Icarus was sub par for a company who sells the canopies the price they do you would think that they would cater to the customer a little better than they do. I mean seriously if I would have been given any kind of notice as to why the wait was extended I would probably have endured the wait. But oh well EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  9. COME ON ppl someone should know something EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  10. Supertroopers and Point Break EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  11. Does anyone know when the 2006 couchfreaks video will be offered for sale EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  12. I was curious if anybody knew if there will be any new episodes of Skydive Radio anytime soon. The only reason I ask is because I am currently deployed to the beatufil vistas of Afghanistan and hearing that show was the only thing helping me keep my sanity. Oh well, I know they are busy and they have other stuff going on. Just an update would be nice EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  13. I have no idea what you mean because Sunshine Factory is based out of Zephyrhills, FL. So I am only dealing wih a company in the US EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  14. I am not a rigger but even with my own gear I see no problem with the current 120 day repack cycle EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  15. I understand that Icarus has such a long waiting period. But what does upset meis the fact that none of us ever heard any info. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  16. Well Skybytch, I only colored my canopy with 3 navy blue cells and 6 black cells. So I do believe that they should not have any problems with getting the colors. As far as the wait goes I am a little upset about it but the upside is at least I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and I am not having to worry about jumping anytime soon right now. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  17. Concerning all my other gear it has been awesome. I ordered my complete rig through Sunshine Factory. The container is already in. As far as the AAD and main goes there is a longer wait. The only reason I have to wait longer for my VIGIL is because they just released the VIGIL II but that is okay. I carus is just not doing good in my eyes EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  18. Well I have definitely learned my lesson as far as buying new from Icarus. I noticed that after I had ordered my new canopy from Icarus that there were plenty of good used canopies to choose from. I now know that my next canopy purchase will definitely be a used canopy. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  19. What is up with Icarus Canopies? I mean I ordered my custom canopy through through Sunshine Factory and I understand that since we are in the busy time of the skydiving season that the 16 week wait is totally understandable. But now I find out that it is going to take up to 25 weeks for my canopy to be ready. So could somebody I mean anybody tell me what the frickin wait is. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  20. Hey Man I take my hay off to you. I am in the ARMY and I must say that I long to be jumping again. To have gone through what you have gone through and still have the will to survive and want to be there for your Family. The skydiving community will miss you but you have to do what needs to be done and the most important thing is your family. I hope you have a speedy recovery and are able to walk again. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  21. Why is it people are makin a big stink about the 120 day pack cycle. The only reason most people are even complaining is because someone decided that "hey, let's change the repack cycle to 180 days" and honestly now people want to save that $100 dollars a year. I for one have no problem spending the money for a repack because I will always know that if for some reason I do need to cutaway my main canopy for any reason that my reserve is going to open. So everyone quit bitchin and lets have fun. I mean hey we all are doing something that is very dangerous no matter how you put it so lets minimize the risk and jhave fun EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  22. hey bro, What exactly are you selling??? EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  23. Hey guys, I know this is just a pic of my container but Joannie just sent me pics of this while I am deployed to Afghanistan. SWEET, only six more months and it will be in my hands EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  24. Again I must say that Joannie at sunshine factory is awesome. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and she has gone above and beyond any customer service I have encountered by sending me pics of my new WINGS container. Here are a couple pics of my new container. I am simply in love with it. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  25. Hey man not all of us Americans are lazy. So give us some credit EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
