  1. I have a Sabre2 190 with a DOM of DEC 2007. I have put almost 100 jumps on it so far and other than the 90 degree turn to the left I have never had any problems with any snivel. It used to take me 1000 feet for the canopy to fully inflate but all I had to do is quarter the slider a little more and I now have consistent 600-700 ft openings. In my experience with Sabre2's any problems you have with the canopy sniveling usually falls on the packing method. If you are the one packing the canopy and you get the snivel then you should pay for a packjob and see if you have the same snivel. In the end if you still get the same snivel you may want to contact PD and see if there is a problem with the line trim or the canopy itself. But then again that is my 2 cents EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  2. Dawn is completely correct. I had thought that when I had inspected my BOC pouch earlier that day I thought it was supposed to look like that. I had done 2 jumps earlier in the day and I thought it was fine. But, on the 3rd that I found out how wrong I was. But, it could have been avoided to the best of my ability if I had only asked my rigger questions anytime I was unsure EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  3. I was not getting defensive I was just saying that as far as technical info about the BOC pouch she would be better to answer your question. I thought the BOC was secure enough and the elastic was good enough but it wasn't until the premature deployment that I did not think something was wrong EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  4. I believe my rigger took some photos and even a video testing the pull strength but I will not be able to get then until this weekend. But Dawn is one of the rigger where I jump that saw my BOC before it was removed so you can even ask her EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  5. I had originally went with the cordura BOC because it lasts longer and is more durable than spandex. My only concern is can you replace just the elastic mouth or does the whole pouch have to be replaced??? EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  6. I don't know if they are related in any way but what I do know is that I originally posted about what had happened because my rigger had made a very valid point that the only place on the BOC that really secures the PC in the pouch is the elastic mouth. My rigger had tested the pull strength in cordura vs. spandex and in the end the spandex requires more strength to pull out the PC compared to cordura. I will get the exact details but in the end it only takes about 4 pounds to pull the PC from a cordura BOC compared to the spandex. When it regards freeflying and you are transition numerous times you don't want your PC to ever prematurely release from its pouch. Now, what had happened to me may have been a freak accident and may never have happened again. All I know is that I want to have full trust in my gear at all times and not have to worry about anything like that happen again. I just want to minimize my risk is all. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  7. well, if I still had a cordura BOC I sure would try that but my cordura BOC was replaced with spandex on Sunday. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  8. Honestly, I may just be over reacting and this may just be one of those freak situations that there may not be just one explanation for. I go through my packing procedure in my head and I see myself properly routing the bridle and folding the PC. I have that verified by talking to the person I asked to give me a pin check. She said all was fine. As far as me hitting anything on the way out the plane. Well that is impossible. I say that because I saw video of my exit and I went straight out with no obstruction whatsoever. Hey, I will chalk it up to a freak happening and just do what I think is in my best interest. All of you that say you have the cordura BOC and have had no problems well then congrats. I also may have gotten a bad BOC from the manufacturer when they made it. That is also a possibility. So in conclusion, there are way too many possibilities to go over in my head so I am going to select the best course of action and just hope nothing like this happens again because next time I will not be so lucky. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  9. bigway, the PC that is with my rig right now is the one that is supposed to be with it. I have only put no more than 75 jumps on the H/C and it might be too loose and it might just be a manufacturing problem. I am not the expert on that issue but all I know is that I got really freaked out when I saw my bridle between my legs when I did my frontflip transition. I may just go with a low profile PUD instead of the hackey but I will see when I pick up my rig. This was by far the freakiest thing that has ever happened to me so I am trying to minimize any chances of this happening. Whatever the case may be, all I know is that the situation and outcome could have been a whole lot worse than what it WAS. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  10. Hello all WINGS owners, I recently bought a NEW WINGS container and I have put about 75 jumps on it. When I bought it I had went with the cordura BOC option. At the time I had thought it was a good idea until this past Saturday. It was a normal jump out of a CASA and before I jumped I had a friend do a pin check for me and she said it was good. I jumped off the platform did a few front flips and went into a sit. While I was in my SIT I decided to work on transitions. I had went into a front flip and as I was flipping I saw my bridle between my legs and then I had the worst experience of my life. I was going about 180 mph when I had a premature deployment. I was in the saddle at about 7700 according to my altimeter and the worse thing was that I was in a cloud for about 2200 ft not knowing where anyone was or where I was. I have gone over this whole scenario many times and the only possible reason I can think of and my rigger agrees with me is that since the cordura pouch is inherently loose unlike the tight fit of the spandex the wind had gotten into the pouch and somehow removed the PC. I know me and I know my gear so I know I did not hit anything on the exit due to the fact that there was video of my exit and I always check my gear and the pouch seemed fine but I was sadly mistaken. I am just writing this post so if there are any WINGS owners out there with a cordura BOC that they replace it with spandex. Because even though I was lucky and had minimal damage to me and my equipment the next person may not be so lucky. EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  11. Well, It looks like I can't get the Container itself checkered but I may be able to get the right side of the harness black with a red cutaway pillow and the left side red with a black reserve handle. I will take what I can get. Hell, I am also gonna have the right legstrap black and the right legstrap red EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  12. I already contacted WINGS and they no longer offer the checkerboard for the container. As far as the harness I wanted to make the right side black, the left side red, the cutaway handle red and the reserve handle black. I do not know if it is even possible but I have already contacted the manufacturer. I am just waiting EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  13. Does anyone know if Mirage will make a checkered container and harness. I want to have a Mirage H/C made but I want it to be checkered black and red to match my jumpsuit EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  14. Hey man, I am stationed at Fort Bragg and I also live in the barracks. Most of the people who live in the barracks and see you with the rig slung over your shoulder will think it is a backpack. But honestly, I have 2 rigs and an expensive desktop. I went with USAA and had purchased$15,000 worth of personal property insurance and I only pay about $70 a year. As long as you have proof of all your high value items you will get fully reimbursed for your losses. That is just my suggestion so please take what you want from what I suggest. If you have anymore questions feel free to message or email me. GOOD LUCK with your decision EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  15. I am wondering if anyone out there can tell what the differences are between the Mirage G3 and G4 besides the price of course EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  16. I completely agree. Even though it is obvious that someone wants to play a joke but there are definitely those that really are sincere when they ask for advice about gear. I mean most of what I have learned from gear is what I have read on this website. Although it is $hitty what some people will do for kicks we all need to remember that skydiving is a dangerous sport and a wrong decision can kill us quickly. I hope people remember that when they tell a newbie bad advice just so they can get rid of their crap EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  17. Well, I am in the ARMY and I decided to go with a brand new wings and I must say that I simply love it. It is extremely comfortable. As far as options, I would recommend getting the cut-in laterals and articulated harness. All the others are just to make the rig look pretty and helps with resale. As far as designing the container that really falls on you. It all depends on what you like. I hope I have helped in some way and remember that what I say is just my opinion. Take what you what from what IOsay EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  18. Well, I don't know about the OP but as for me I went from a Spectre to a Sabre2. I switched canopies because the Sabre2 was more agressive all around thasn the Spectre. I loved my Spectre for the consistent soft openings and on heading openings but I just like the Sabre2 more EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  19. Hey that combination of main and reserve is not bad. I currently have a Sabre2 190 with a PDReserve 176. I currently load it at 1.28 which is pretty high for my jump numbers. Don't worry folks I know someone will say something about that. As far as what can fit into the container you are looking for you might want to contact the manufacturer about what sizes will fit properly. Like I said though, these are just my opinions take what you want from what I say EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  20. well first off does the container hold the 230 snugly or fairly comfortably. If snugly you will be able to go down to a 210. You might be able to safely drop down to a 190 with your container but anything past that would be unsafe. As far as the reserve goes you would only want to go one size smaller because you don't want to have your reserve too losse in the pack tray or in the freebag. But then again that is just my input take what you want from it EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  21. I would have to agree with you. Buying a new canopy if you want to have your canopy match your container and jumpsuit. But you will not like packing it at all. I have a little under 50 jumps on my sabre2 190 and I can pack it to the point where I can get part of the canopy in the bag but in the end I just stuff it in the bag and make sure the slider is stowed and the lines are straight. The canopy itself is just trashed intp the bag. Oh well, as long as it opens it will be fine.(Ihope) EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  22. Well, as far as gear goes you will want to go with used canopies. But, then again everyone will tell you that and they would be correct. If you want to go with new anything it would have to be a new container. At least the container will be sized for you and it will move with your body instead of being to loose or too tight. Since you are military WINGS would be a good choice to pick. When I got back from Afghanistan I had gotten a Brand new WINGS container and they offer 50% off the price of the container and you pay full price for the options. I have moved onto Freeflying and the rig never goes any other place other than on my back. I have never been worried that when I transition from being on my back to a sit or whatever I do I never worry that it will move. That is just my opinion EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  23. Well, if you have not updated your profile with jump info it is hard to say. But if you are fairly new to jumping and you are thinking about jumping a 150 with an exit weight of 180. Well all I want to know is can I be at your ash dive because those sizes start getting into the realm of high performance. But the best people to talk to would be your instructor not this forum. But hey good luck EXPECT THE WORST, HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!
  24. I have had this canopy since February ever since I returned from Afghanistan and I have put roughly 40 jumps on this canopy. I have to admit I simply love it. 9 times out of 10 it will open on heading and 10 out of 10 times it wills open nice and softly. It is very responsive on toggle and riser input. There is fairly light pressure on the rear risers so they are easy enough to pull in case of a long spot and you need to lose as little altitude as possible. There is medium pressure on the front risers but if you have dive loops then you will have no problem pulling on them. As far as flaring goes there is plenty of flare to go around and the landings are very nice with moderate winds. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is when you are jumping on no wind days and you come in for your final for some reason the canopy likes to pop up a foot or two. If you are not used to this at first it can be a little scary. Other than that the Sabre2 2 is very responsive at higher wing loadings as well as moderate loadings. I load mine at about 1.25 and I have absolutely no problems with any aspect of my canopy.
