hi i am looking for skydivers from hibalstow in the uk. we are having some problems with one of your students on basejumper.com to understand what the problem is please go to this thread. http://www.basejumper.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2945387;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread its been a while since i did a clicky and cant remember how its done. maybe check out some of his other posts as well to see what i mean. he seems to think he is an 'elite' skydiver and wants to start basejumping now with only 31 skydives.nothing anyone says to him seems to make any difference. his username is ukmarkj does that ring a bell anyone? i wondering if someone could alert his instructors to what is going through his tiny mind as they may be the only ones he may listen to, though maybe not!!! i am hoping the next time he turns up to the dz one of the intstructors will take him to one side and explain in a way he will understand. if at all possible contact his wealthy mummy and daddy and tell them to make sure he is not given the money to buy base equipment untill he has learned to skydive. my hovercraft is full of eels.

Didn't Phoenix Fly have a helmet as one of their products a while back? I can't seem to find it now, but I do recall some discussion of it. The Stinger, I've used one for my last 100 odd skydives. Good helmet at a good price, don't know why they discontinued it. i found it! http://www.phoenix-fly.com/products/helmet_stinger.htm my hovercraft is full of eels.

i have always used an open faced helmet so far but im also keen on finding a full face which is tracking/wingsuit friendly. i was thinking a full face without a smooth profile visor is not aerodynamic at all for chin on sternum tracking. base rig manufacturers seem to be going for the tracking aerodynamics, surely the helmet is a very important part of this? thoughts anyone? i hope you persue your line of enquiry with the helmet manufacturer but add a flip up visor (removable)for the aerodynamics. this may be a good question for the wingsuit forum. my hovercraft is full of eels.

it most certainly does sound like a dangerous mission.! you need a black and white striped shirt and some trousers with little arrows printed all over them, get a sack with SWAG printed on the side, dont forget the balaclava!!. now go and fiddle with the lock on the gate for 3 minuites, then run and hide in the bushes and see who turns up.. report back to this thread tomorrow morning at 07.30 sharp with the results of your mission. btw wait in the bushes for at least 4 or 5 hours as "they" may delay their arrival at first just to fool you. my hovercraft is full of eels.

do you know which lines broke? space, i was thinking that for an in sequence opening my money is on the centre A lines going first but certainly centre lines. and for an out of sequence opening all bets are off, surely it depends on what goes wrong. i would guess the first lines to tension would be the first to break. my hovercraft is full of eels.

andy , if you want to basejump you may have just made things really difficult for yourself when you get back to england. i mean a real setback to your base carrer. im an english basejumper and i prefer jumping with other people but when i want to go and jump theres no way im calling you. i know some of the people who have given you advice and to ignore them when it looks like all you needed to do was wait one more skydiving season shows very poor judgement. to jump with the guy you did and then post it on this website shows a desperate cry for attention. edit to remove PA ~TA congratulations on your first base jump and all the attention it gets you. my hovercraft is full of eels.

seems to me you only hang out with people who jump and fly, if you hang out with groups of people who dont like to fly you will probably find they are generally even worse. thats just fucking people for you. my hovercraft is full of eels.

absolutely, that is some very sound advise. it is extremely difficult to give any advise over the internet while taking into consideration that a complete moron will read it even years later and go do something like stitch their reserve bridle to their legstrap. theres a lot to be said for finishing the job and then comming back a few days later and acting the inspector on your own work, but another rigger is even better! i have always been an advocate of a complete repack after any sewing work. my hovercraft is full of eels.

use 'E' thread. any home sewing machine that will take size 18 needles and will go through the thickness of material you want to sew. some wallmart stores have size 18 needles. paragear have the thread. http://www.paragear.com/templates/parachutes.asp?group=33&level=2&parent=193 if you want to be a rigger, right now on your own gear is the best time to start practicing. your profile says you dont have too much experience so i would advise you to just stick to replacing what was there originally. nick may have been joking but a lot more experienced jumpers than you have in fact stitched their canopy to their container by accident. my hovercraft is full of eels.

i think robbie is right as well, remember the old saying: "a false sense of security is better than none at all." well now i know it has a name "peltzman effect". it reminds me a friend of mine had a theory about improving road safety by removing seat-belts from cars and putting a 3 inch rusty steel spike smeared with dog shit right in the middle of the steering wheel. there would sure as hell be a drop in the auto accident rate. my hovercraft is full of eels.

i was just thinking how cool the carbon fibre coffee table looked. im not buying worthless crap like this alti right now, the wrist strap isnt even in olive drab!. i would rather spend my money on something really collectable like britneys hair, theres a couple of people selling. my hovercraft is full of eels.

if you want to catch others eyes you should order it with a bright orange panel, as when they see you they may be able to figure out you are friendly.! but thats just my opinion. my hovercraft is full of eels.
