  1. i would love the harness machine but im afraid i cant afford the shipping to England, if anyone else is looking for their first machine i recommend they buy the bernina 217 from you. the moderator may not like it if you advertise in this forum but can you tell us how much people should expect to pay for each of those machines. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  2. i have just bought a singer 20u industrial zig zag which i can nurse through just about any thickness on a skydiving rig.i also have a 112w double needle. you could also do a search on sewing machines in the forums as similar questions have been asked here before. check out ebay as well, there are industrial zig zags going quite cheap all the time. just ask the sellers lots of stupid questions, you can learn a lot about what they were using it for. if you pick up a used industrial machine cheap dont be afraid to take it for a service straight away,it could save you a lot of frustration. jerry , its not just lifewithoutanet who wants to know this stuff so dont go holding back on us now. tell everyone. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  3. this may have little or even nothing at all to do with base jumping but neither did the cardboard boxes or the rasher of bacon threads. can someone who understands the language please tell me what is going on in this video?. ive watched it a number of times and im still shocked and confused every time. http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1133679600/Olympic_Diving_in_Iraq my hovercraft is full of eels.
  4. yes i understood that bit, its where he denies having a reason to push a lemmon i was wondering about. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  5. if you stow the pilotchute and then you put the rig on and then take it out for hand held or s/l you will never have the bridle through the legstrap malfunction. what is the meaning of this?, its the funniest thing i have ever seen you post. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  6. i think its great that the cypress unit has some competition, it will help to keep the price down. but dont bother buying anything else, let other people do that. my hovercraft is full of eels.

  9. im sure most riggers would be happy to help out if you pay them for the reserve pack. on the classifieds here good gear at the right price will sell. the best time to sell to americans is in spring and the big manufacturers are quoting 3 months on new gear. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  10. they should be replaced when ever they look worn. i have been abusing a set of pd reserve slinks on my slider up base rig for about 150 jumps and they are starting to look a bit melted. its something i have also noticed on tandem mains using slinks. with a hard opening the slider grommets come down hot, smack the slink hard and stop right there in the same place every time because of the wider risers. it leaves a small patch of slink and riser melted and with repeated heatings and beatings the patch of nylon melted gets bigger , the edges of the melted patch can get a little rough and the risers work against the slink right there where its rough. personally i think slinks are a bad idea for tandems ,when i have changed line sets on tandem mains with slinks i have seen risers that really shouldn't have been in the air for a while. even on 1 inch sport risers, if you get hard openings look out for the glazing where the risers meet slink and slider. i love using the slinks on my base canopy because the damage from the slider is going to be done somewhere, the grommets are hot. the slinks allow the grommet to pass right off the lines so they don't get scorched and I'm using slider bumpers i got from a set of pd main slinks to protect the risers and they work nicely so the risers are fine. i just accept i'm going to be keeping a constant eye on them and changing the slinks more often than the lines. just in case anyone was thinking of flaming me, in using slinks on a base rig i consider myself a test pilot. if you leave the tab hanging out then the slider is going to knock on the slinks weakest point every time so its going to wear out sooner and surely its just a matter of time before it causes trouble between the slider and the control line. if you leave the tab hanging out and you have brass grommets on your slider then the tab will leave little dents in the grommets which will deteriorate the lines quite quickly , even the pd slink tab will dent a brass grommet over time. i think that slinks generally should be changed a lot more often than people are currently doing, they take a hell of a beating and they dont cost much. and if the person jumping it doesn't maintain the gear then maybe metal links are the best option. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  11. well um i guess my point was that it takes one to know one and i was asking for anyone to give me the whole video as the one i posted the link to was incomplete, it didn't have a proper ending.. but its alright now because www.consumptionjunction.com has posted the video taken by mobile phone of what appears to be a medieval village square hanging of a witch complete with religion and jeering peasants! its a shame nobody was throwing rotten fruit. my morbid curiosity was more than satisfied as i watched in disbelief!!!! . the camera was shoved in his dying face, his head lying at an impossible angle as if almost torn off the body. the cheers of his enemies the last sound ringing in his ears as the final humiliation of hanging from his own gallows is broadcast across the world.
  12. i think you missed the point! my hovercraft is full of eels.
  13. you're right! do you think they have ever sold a Zeus smaller than XXL size?. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  14. thats funny. did he drop his pants as low as the dollar? and lift her skirt higher than inflation. then he did to her what he has done to your country. ha ha ha. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  15. imagine a 4 way team wearing the Zeus, people would remark on it for a long time! they may even remember your team forever! if you have one of those helmets in polished chrome you could wear a cape and some knee high boots! maybe in red or royal blue. some cool factors are timeless chum. skydiving fashion isn't a cry for attention, its a statement. you should buy one the same colour as your jumpsuit. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  16. it looks really cool, reminds me of jango fett or was it bobba?. maybe it needs a transmitter aerial though. my hovercraft is full of eels.

surely someone knows base_riggers real name? i mean the name his unmarried parents gave him. i have jumped all over the world with some of the most intelligent and finest humans being. it worries me that i may end up at an exit point or pack near this person and have my back turned to them at any time. anyone so spitefull should be exposed before their peers. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  21. cut in laterals are a bad idea on a single container, a friend of mine jumped a rig like that hand held and i often unhooked the bridle from the bottom corner as he was about to jump. having owned one briefly myself i would say a rig is more comfortable without this feature as the container hugs my back better and i can feel the openings.i also had a javelin oddessey, yes it certainly makes a skydiving rig fit beautifully. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  22. damn right magot, you tell him. make sure you get the money as well. just to clarify , when i say "dealing with" i did not mean "responsible for". they are totally different things. when you jump a parachute you are dealing with the quality of all the materials used and also the design and workmanship of the manufacturer, every stitch they put in the system. which is not anything like the same thing as holding them "responsible for" anything. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  23. well yea alright...i do feel sort of bad now i finally got my chance to vent about the service,i dont think im completely wrong as this is the first time i have roasted kevin in public, the service and the rig was so bad and the thread topic did seem to be apropriate. all your other points i have taken and yes you are right its all my responsibility and ill get over it now and i wont mention it on the internet again....my bad. my hovercraft is full of eels.
  24. what you are saying is not true, you did not learn about it on dz.com. this thread is the first time i have posted anything about the way i was treated by you. maybe you are thinking of someone else? at the time i sent the risers back to you with the neo which had dents in the d rings after 16 jumps as well as a number of other design and quality issues, you told me you didn't even send me risers and also accused me of sabotaging the rig on purpose and trying to rip you off, you took 3 months to change the chest strap to the size i ordered and return it to me. this is the first time i heard the infamous dirty dave excuse. so you were paying him, you trusted him, he let you down and then refused to take responsibility did he?, well well, how did you feel when he did that to you kevin? from the comfort of my armchair i can see 2 rigs from basic research and after nearly 150 jumps on each i could not possibly be happier with the gear or their service.this thread is about the best gear and i answered katzurki asking about the worst. in closing ill offer this. every time you jump a parachute you are dealing with the manufacturer. my hovercraft is full of eels.
