  1. Any of these scenarious can be handled safely by modifying your patern in flight instead of using additional control inputs. Extend legs of the pattern, shorten legs of the pattern, cut the corner, round out a corner. I suggest you get yourself a copy of Brian's book. It is a great read. 2. Plant some pot. It is a weed so it will grow like crazy. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  3. Pretty soon his 4,500 freefly suit is going to be free....... if he has the stones to wear it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  4. Another 20 from me to slap some really weird patches on there. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  5. If I was within commuting distance, and didn't have to travel so much highway I would in a heart beat. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  6. I didn't find your post to be negative in any way. I found it humerous, and you were a real good sport about it. In fact I was going to go to their websites to check out their suits because of your post. You know what they say, screw 'em if they can't take a joke. 7. It is typical pick up artist playbook. And your right it isn't the way to meet a long term partner, but it works pretty well to get a girl to go home with you. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  8. Actually I think I would love just about any one who delivers me a box full of awesome new toys. I came home yesterday to a box with my new Rebel XSi, some batteries, a case, some memory cards, lots of cool stuff to play with. The next couple of days should be like Xmas! Still waiting for a box from Get Hypoxic (THANKS TRUNK!), a box from Really Right Stuff, and once I order it another box from Aerostore.
  9. No, he is dead on with a lot of those rules for many women. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  10. Funny... I allways considered an outstreched arm with the hand open hannd pointed up as the universal sign to stop. I use it to stop people while I am in manifest and I see one of our newer jumpers rushing to the plane and I have a hunch that they haven't recieved a gear check. 11. Yes, the risers have hooded toggle stow pockets. I thought that would be the case with the brass versus stainless grommets. They may just break themselves in an be less of a pain. The older risers didn't do this on the same canopy. They are idental risers from the same shop, so I assume that the risers are still stiff with less give. Of course they could have been made a little beefier in certain areas. Sparky, yes the manufacture is on my call list before I start hacking and sewing. 12. I agree, there is no reason to jump UP, especially on a hop and pop where the plane may not be in level flight. Unless I am demostrating a seated poised exit for student and his or her instructor I allways crouch on the balls of my feet and hop side ways OUT to clear the aircraft, never ever UP. Depending on the attitude of the plane, I.E. in a climb, I will stay small until clear of the tail just in case. Standing poised exits with exagerated presentation are not for hop and pops. I have been seen a 206 stabilizer just barely clear a jumpers head because he wanted to practice an exit on a hop and pop. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  13. You can bitch and protest all you want, but if the planes staff doesn't want it as carry on that is the bottom line. In todays day in age you risk getting kicked off the plane and charged for making so much a peep. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  14. I will have to check the next time I air it out. I know the ID is much smaller than the brass grommets on the PISA Hornet that I used to own. Those slipped effortlessly past the toggles and stowed excess. Something I did consider. The old canopy had spectra lines, this new canopy has HMA. I think all of the canopies made by the current manufacturer uses stainless steel grommets regardless of the line type, but that doesn't mean it isn't necessary with HMA lines. 15. Who would be the perfect pilot for you? Someone with a nice clean record and lots of hours of experience or some m0therf0cker war veteran who has crashed a dozen of planes? What about the pilot that argues all day in aerobatics internet forums? Certainly that has to compensate for his level of currency. Hugs and kisses Gabor.
  16. I was hoping that I could solicit some opinions from the riggers here on the board. I have a canopy with the smaller stainless steel slider grommets. I have mini risers, but they are new and still very stiff. The combination of the two results in good deal of difficulty when getting the slider past the toggles. I have on several occasions given myself brake fires, no big deal since it isn't during opening, and keep unstowing the excess which will lead to a nice not if I am not careful when unstowing the toggles. I had a previous canopy that had the larger brass grommets. They were great. No problem getting the slider behind my head, and the slider seemed to stay behind my head better as well. Aside from durability differences, does any one see a major issue in switching grommets (assuming proper installation). This problem is annoying enough that I am going to either replace the grommets, or fork the money over for a removable slider / RDS. 17. Damn, I agree with Squeek.... again! Now all I want is some good lambics, and a box of GREAT chocolates. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  18. I ended up not getting the warranty because I went with Adorama instead of B&H, and there warranty didn't cover damadge. I am going to try to get all of my gear covered through my renters insurance instead.
  19. Here is a question for the people who ride. If you have never really driven a manual transmission vehicle how hard is it to pick up the clutch system on a motorcycle? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  20. Does that mean you need to see a master rigger for RSL removal documentation every time your reserve card blows away. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  21. I can't/won't click that link at work. Please please please tell me they figured out how to turn cat's into oil. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  22. Too bad GAO has no power to force the airforce to comply. Only congress can do that. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  23. There are one or two articles that I wrote for an offroading website back in the day... but otherwise, just a bunch of ugly old lawyers and doctors with my name. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  24. My apologies then. I seemed to remember about the thread was some one being very adamant about replacing it, despite being repairable. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  25. I have noticed that it happens more on canopies that open in more of a stall (which some of my canopies have done when they were horribly out of trim). Just my uneducated non rigger observation. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
