  1. I know of some inertial units that we use for seismic work. You wouldnt have to worry about data loss since there is no satellite connection. The downside is that each unit weighs 40lbs and cost around $250,000. That might affect your track in a negative way
  2. I figured this post was about someone else saying they track like that. I can believe it if it is about y´all!
  3. Great, now go out there and have a perfect launch. After the exit, hold an angle of 27.5 degrees and you would have a perfect track! Hmmm.....What about clothing, if you wear more clothing on upper or lower body it throws that number off. Oh, what if you carry more weight on you upper body than most, that would throw the number off too. That is about as accurate as saying that if you put the Space Shuttle and a glider at the same angle of attack they will fly the same speed and same distance
  4. Hows that saying go again....oh yeah "Your Mileage May Vary" Now I have over 100 WS BASE jumps, so looking back it may not have been the best route. With that said, if I had to do it all over again I would probably do it just the same.
  5. About 50 BASE jumps mostly from 1800ft towers and about 7 wingsuit jumps from a plane....Just go for it man, im still alive
  6. Hmmm....Yeah, I see how lookin at your alimeter could change the slip stream over the protrack. On another note, I don't look at my altimeter (rarely wear one). I watch the ground, when it get close as shit I hold out a bit longer then pull! Doug
  7. When you say your fall rate, do you mean when your protrack gives an average or when you look at the graph and it gives you a low point. I have seen dips into the 20's frequently on dives and and overall averages of 30's sustained (low, 1st half, second half) with a max in the 50's. This is all on an S3. I really want to try a V1. Doug
  8. So how about some numbers guys? What are your fall rates? How long you staying aloft? How much ground you covering? You guys rocking in your new suits or what? Maybe I need to come down there and show you guys how to fly. Doug
  9. Just in case, I will bring my GPS.
  10. Sweet, you guys get some practice in so you cant bitch when I smoke you in my rinky-dink S3. Doug
  11. Hehe, you might be right about not showing up. Even if I don't show lets examine the facts. I weigh 160lbs an 5'10" with a slinder build (no gut). You, my firend, have an aerodynamic disasvantage due to large consumptions of beer. Another note, I spend most of my bird jumps maxed out, unless I am flocking with you guys . I fly for forward speed instead of fall rate (yes BASE does help something). Even after his said, lets assume you do "ACTUALLY" get your suit in, I can bet a good some of money you wont be able to max it in 5 jumps, which is about the point I will be jumping with you. Hell, lets make it interesting, I will fly on my back! Doug
  12. You know, even with your new fancy suit you still wont catch me!
  13. Yeah I guess I will go. There better be a PF Demo there for me! When is skyfest and when is the grandbury thing?
  14. Wow! Birdman must have some variation in their construction. I can go any bigger than a 36" otherwise I would never be able to pull. I even have trouble with the 36" being very tight.
  15. Stop being a pussy and come out to a tower with me. Shit, I will even let you ride the elevator! No trampling through cow pastures, guaranteed.
  16. did you just mount a bullet cam at the end of the boom or what?

heheh, I guess it doesn't help that I just checked the post now....Next time man. My number is 832-563-5194 so just call me if you come by again. Doug

    Good Luck!

What I learned from the trip: 1. It gets cold on the top of an antenna at night. 2. Drinking beer at 8am is a great way to start the morning, or in our case, end the day. 3. When a group of chemically imbalanced people (ie. ADD, OCD, CRAZY, etc.) are put together, something great is going to happen. 4. Campfires rock! Other than that I had a blast meeting everyone. Much thanks to the hospitality of the locals and the organizers who put this shindig together. Doug edit: Location reference removed. If this may be attempted again, best to keep it as under cover as possible. ~TA
  21. I got a suit you may want to try, check you PM for details
  22. Yeah that was a great time. Thanks for letting me borrow the pants for a jump. I am really impressed with the drive those things get, you really just take off!! Oh and remember, the key to covering more ground is pullin' low!
  23. OK, so I didnt have the best landing and now my sony PC100 is submerged in desert dust (Moab). I dont want to use it because the gears that open the tape tray grind now. Any idea how much it cost to get the camera cleaned professionally? Somebody mentioned Sony and they would do it cheap. Anybody know about this or have had the same experience?
