  1. I agree, my 24-105 kit lens took forever and a day to warm up after I came in from sunset pics last night. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  2. Which boogie? Which Chicago? "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  3. I think they have one of those at Chicagoland Skydiving Center. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  4. You're better off filming a A or AA team than rookies. It is much harder to learn how to camera fly FS4 if the team themselves are unsure... Where's the "like" button? Rookies are the hardest to shoot, they are all over the sky. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 5. Here's some exit shots of me, and a couple of mine. I pretty much drop off straight down from the plane, give them a couple seconds of the exit, roll onto my side for a vertical exit shot, then get into position for the rest of the dive. Exit timing depends on how fast the group gives the count, but it's usually on the T of set. If I'm jumping with someone that does a faster count I'll leave earlier on set, or maybe even into ready, for slower counts you go later. I really like the, "Shake Shake Shake, ready set go" count. You can usually see the hand of the inside center doing the shaking, and that almost never blends in with getting into position. I've been lucky that both of the teams I've shot for regularly are so consistent that after I see the "Shake Shake Shake" I could close my eyes and still leave on time. Exit 4a is my shot shortly after whoever took Exit 4 took theirs. Exit 5 is not a 4 way, but it's a good example of how horrible your body position can be, and still be where you need to be. I also found it interesting that Arnold and I have mirror image horrible body positions. Mine are shot with my Canon 10-22 at 10mm. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 6. I'm after he full frame more for low light performance, and non sports where speed isn't an issue. I'll have the T4i if I really need that kind of speed, and the 70-200 will be pretty awesome at 320mm. :-) "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 7. I'm keeping my T1i/CX150 for jumping. The 6D is for nice ground stills. I'm getting either a T4i or T3i as a backup. I'm also getting a Sony NEX VG-20 for nice ground video. I'm really looking forward to getting the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens, it sounds like the most badass lens ever made. 8. Same here, I don't intend to use it for skydiving either, just ground work. I have a T1i now, so the auto focus is probably still better than what I'm used to. Besides, I pretty much only use the center focus point anyway. The single card slot instead of a dual isn't an issue either. I'm getting a Sony NEX-VG30 for video, so I can shoot both stills and video at the same time, from different angles if I want. The 6D is still pretty new, I haven't heard much about them, other than the 5D markIII is better, duh. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 9. Has anybody used the new Canon 6D yet? Most of the reviews I've seen are good, other than silly stuff like only having one card slot, and only 1 cross point for the auto focus. 10. Kallend has one. He's been flying a GoPro on it. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  11. Here's a little something I learned from the B&H channel on youtube, the EF-S lenses like the 10-22, basically are L glass quality without the name. They said that since the EF-S glass elements are smaller, they used the higher quality glas because it would cost the same as using a bigger lower quality glass. 12. I don't work for you, but I'm on the list with at least 3 others that Nick owes. I'm assuming he didn't pay his rent, and that's why he got kicked off the airport. Wawasee is another little airport in the area that he started a dz at over the summer. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 13. I have a Skyhook on one of my rigs, only one cutaway with it, spinning linetwists, not a problem. It may have been an issue back in the day when they were crazy, and didn't cut the excess off their ringsights, and stuff like that. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  14. That looks pretty simple, and easy to get to all the buttons too. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  15. You should also check with Trunk to see if the Hypeye will work with it. The CX160 requires a special version of Hypeye. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  16. I would not jump with a hoodie because I seem to have all sorts of unusual things happen, and I don't want to be the first to find out there is a problem from jumping with hoodies. I have non-hooded sweatshirts for when people force me to jump when it's too cold. I would not jump with a ring because of the very real possibility of a degloving incident, which has happened several times. I would not jump with a necklace of any kind, I haven't heard of an incident involving a necklace yet, and I don't want to be the first for that either. I would not jump with a full face helmet due to the sight restrictions/fogging issues. It would be nice for jumping in the rain, bu I know a few people that have had problems. Including the guy that almost went in because his visor froze over and he couldn't open it because of his GoPro. I always jump with gloves. My landings aren't that great, and doing a dozen jumps a day on weekends is rough on the fingers. I think I've only made 3 jumps without a camera helmet in the last 1,300+ jumps. Camera's are a risk I love to take. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  17. A tandem student asked his TI why everybody had the same necklace on. The TI said, "Well a few years ago a bunch of our friends were killed in a plane crash. These are part of the plane we wear as a reminder of our friends." "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  18. I forgot the cable has a 1/4-20 hole in it already. Oopsie.
  19. You need one of these to mount behind the CX. http://www.amazon.com/Flash-Stand-Adapter-4-inch-Tripod/dp/B005HTZJBY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1350674553&sr=8-7&keywords=hot+shoe+adapter "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 20. No, not everybody can make their own stuff. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  21. But does it leave a shadow with it mounted back there? I assume it's mounted with a hot shoe adapter. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  22. Hey Ryan, there's a guy at Skydive Midwest that has an aluminum box for his mounted between his helmet and his quick release for his CX. It raises the CX up a bit higher than the still. Sorry I didn't get a pic of it, but I think I've seen it on here somewhere. Hey Jason, will it cast a shadow mounted back there? I think it will, especially if you're still using the Century lens. My Canon 10-22 lens has a 77mm filter, and it is big enough to make the pop up flash cast a shadow. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  23. Here's one of my camera stories from before I knew how dangerous it was. Skydive Fort Wayne is the 182 dropzone I started at, and at the time of this story the only other place I had jumped at was the Richmond boogie. I had maybe 175 jumps, so that means around 40 of those were "just wearing a camera to record my jumps" jumps. Larry, Brad, and I, had this great idea for a 3 way that would look cool on video. We were going to build an open accordion with me in the middle, but on my back. I went out on the step facing the rear of the plane, gave the other two dudes a count, left, and they dove down to me. That was the plan anyway. So there I was, waiting for them to dock on me (they were pretty close too), when I remembered we didn't go all the way up, we had only went to 5,000 feet (give or take a couple hundred). I immediately rolled over to my belly, pooped my pants, then pulled. The other two apparently had lost altitude awareness also. They got turned enough so they weren't facing each other and they pulled. It was a good thing this was a 182 dropzone, the spot was perfect, we had opened right over the landing area. I was the highest because I pulled first, and I was jumping a Monarch 215 (just like an original Sabre), Larry was just a little below me with his 155 Monarch, and Brad was the lowest with his 169 Safire 2. When we got back to the hangar I looked at my Neptune to see the opening altitude. It's a good thing none of us had an AAD at the time, we probably would've all had two out situations to deal with. I forget the exit altitude exactly, I think it was 5,300'. We had 24 seconds of freefall with an opening altitude of 900 feet. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  24. Depending on jump run direction, sometimes I use the pop up flash for exits, then put it back down at the bottom of the hill. Is that messing with your camera in freefall? "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  25. He must be experimenting with the CX100. It sounded like he had never heard of one at Summerfest. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
