  1. I hear tell that there is this Matt Hoover guy who has some pictures somewhere out there on that internet thing... could just be a rumor though, I hear those happen a lot on the internet too.
  2. Outstanding, use and love your products and will continue to use and recommend them! Good luck with your new change of focus.
  3. From Chris's post on page one of this thread, plus one click.
  4. Are you running Vegas and related programs on Windows 7? Any issues? I can tweak the crap out of Vista and get the performance up. I'm a little hesitant to put 7 on a brand new system until there is a little more stable product on the market as well as vendor support from companies like Sony for Vegas and Cinescore, etc.
  5. That's a great idea however it hasn't actually been released yet... he should however be able to upgrade to Win 7 when it is released if he buys a new computer soon... I hit the submit button on the order last night. Part of the package was a free upgrade to 7 when it comes out.
  6. What think ye fellow video editors of these specs? Going to buy a new laptop and have something spec'd out. Already know and use Vegas and plan to stick with it. So this question is purely about what do you other guys who use Vegas on a regular basis think. Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme Mobile Processor QX9300 (2.53Ghz, 12MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) (Quad Core) 8GB DDR3 System Memory 640GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (320GB x 2) - I already have and use external drives for my perm storage. These would just be for editing and rendering. Finished products get stored externally. Vista 64 Bit, which will get tweaked on quite a bit to get as much out of it as I can. I'd rather have XP, but I don't have it and don't want to spend the $$ to get it. Thoughts?
  7. Canon doesn't make a 10-22mm lens with IS. I didn't think so, but was not sure if something released more recently might have it.
  8. You could always throw a 50D up there. I don't know that I ever plan to jump something that fancy, but I'd love to own one for non-jump picture stuff.
  9. Don't know about the remote. I know with the XS that I just us the 2.5mm bite switch setup and it works fine for me. I think IS is lens dependent and supported/enabled by the body. I don't notice any issues with the shots that I shoot on my 10-22. Most of the shutter speeds that I'm shooting at with that lens are during good day light and at speeds that IS would not come into play anyway though. Does your 10-22 have IS? I bought mine used so it may be before that was available.
  10. I use the XS. I purchased it because I already had several SDHC type memory cards, plus I reasoned that by saving a little on the body I could afford to buy better glass. I've taken well over 10k pictures with my XS so far and so far I have no complaints with it. The upgrade from the stock 18-55mm to a Canon 10-22mm made a huge difference to me in picture quality as relates to skydiving. The 3.5 frames a second has been more than plenty, also the two cameras handle what happens when the buffer fills up a little differently I think. When I was doing the research I actually liked the XS better in that department. Not sure if that helps or not or if that was what you were looking for.
  11. Does that work with the non-pro version of Sony Vegas too? I actually downloaded and purchased Cinescore and have been playing with it and when I have plenty of time to sit and mess with it, it's great. But for quick turn around stuff, I find other work flows are faster for now. I wonder if I just need to check a box somewhere so that it will work with the version of Vegas that I have....
  12. How do you guys incorporate Cinescore into your work flows? Are you going in and creating a bunch of music before hand or? I.e. where does it fall in your work flow of getting something created and out the door. Yes I'm asking more from a tandem video perspective where time a little more critical than say a 4 way/fun jump video that I can work on at home later.
  13. We have this service AND I've had to use it. 3.5 years ago it saved my ass big time having one of these when somebody tried to haul my ass into court. There was still some out of pocket expense, but nothing close to what it would have been without this service.
  14. Go hang out at the DZ as much as you can too. Listen to people talk, when people are working on their gear or talking to people like that old fart or Mike G. go ease drop. When appropriate ask questions. Ease dropping will likely result in more 'new' questions too. FWIW, I'm still asking questions and learning. I don't think you can ever learn it all about this sport. Welcome to the sport!
  15. I don't think there is a one size fit's all here. Different people use their cards differently. It's kind of nice to have at least two cards so you can drop one, grab the other and go when your fortunate enough to have a video editor on staff.
  16. DSE, Are there places where a DZ can buy bulk licenses of music that can legally be used? I.e. so as to have variety, enough to be interesting without having to repeat a lot, etc. Our DZO is asking and wanting to do the legal right thing in this regard. Thx, BK
  17. I have both the SanDisk Extreme III's and the PNY's and use them interchangably every weekend. Both do fine for the speed at which we take pictures and the quality too.
  18. We will have to agree to disagree. Do you really want people thinking that what we do is a dangerous stunt? Is that really such a bad thing? That is part of what draws people to our sport. Once we have them in the folds, it's our job to teach them and give them the tools to be safe.
  19. Is iMovie any faster if you shoot in SD vs HD? I've found that the quality of the HQ SD option on the CX-100 is very good and does not require converting to be used. How does the Mac and iMovie do with the MPEG's?
  20. Outstanding!! Thank you for your efforts!!
  21. Doh, that's the best! My wife and I both got a good chuckle out of that one.
  22. Here a pic of my set-up with the Schumacher bracket and a HypEye mini tucked inside. It's not a FTP, but instead a Vapor which also has a vertical forehead. This set-up is very low profile, swivels out of the way if wanted, and has nylon screws. Plus, with the traditional mounting posts, I always had this image of that post being a skull puncturing device during a violent collision. That image alone makes me prefer the articulated bracket. Perfect pictures. That's exactly what I was trying to illustrate with words above.
