  1. I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before but I'm too lazy to dig through all the posts to find it. I have FinalCut Pro on my macbook pro, but it won't let me import any video files from the computer that I shot with my CX100...the .MTS flie extension. If I have footage on the camera I can pull directly from the camera just fine. My question is, can I put the footage that I have already pulled back on to the camera or card, and get it to pull that way? I have tried it with no luck and am wondering if I am missing something. I tried to drag & drop from the computer to the card and internal memory, but the footage wasn't found in Final Cut. I also tried doing the same thing with an SD card with no luck. Advice? 2. Thanks Wendy! Its funny how you can spoon feed the media exactly what you want, and how it should be written, but it always gets taken out of content now and then. For the most part Gail did a good job with only a few errors. It was a fun interview to do. My favorite question she asked me, that was not part of the article, was "what is the most stupid thing you have heard a student ask?" My answer was, "on a clear day where there was not a cloud in the sky, the chick i was doing video for asked her instructor on the way up--'is it going to be sunny up there?'" 3. Yes, John, you are correct about the student rigs. I have heard that we will have them replaced by the weekend. The individual we think is the thief was the newest ops guy, Mike. He was the rig runner this past weekend. Since he wasn't a jumper and had done only two jumps prior to coming to us, I don't think he understands how close our community is. I.T. posted the serial numbers in the original post. "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  4. John, here's the skinny: There was no sign of forced entry into the hangar as there were people staying in there last night. There was no damage and what this individual took was selective. Even though he had direct access to the video room, no video gear was taken. He only took 2 student rigs and could have taken ALL of the gear. No tv's, no dvd players, no helmets. He did take a few of the DeepSeed tandem suits, and the rest of the stolen items were directed to one individual. We believe we know who it was as he didn't show up to work this morning. Do you remember seeing that Jeep Laredo in the parking lot with the camouflage paint job (blood red, brown and white)? It has wyoming plates.... 5. Don't forget about Jeff... Brady has good company. He was a brother from day one when I started in 1998. Fly free. "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  6. Just got ordered it. Thanks! "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  7. I talked with GoPro directly today and at this time they do not currently have any kind of flat lens to take away some of the fisheye distortion. He did say that there are some third parties out there that have created this but he didn't have any more info. Does anybody here have any knowledge about this? I am thinking about taking my GoPro on a small scuba trip. The dude said that the only drawback, and the reason why they don't market for scuba at this time, is because the combination of the wide angle lens and the water can cause some slight distortion resulting in minor bluriness. Any thoughts? "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  8. I'm not in CO anymore but just talked to a good friend that is. There is a new dropzone that recently opened up in Fort Morgan...it's a drive from Denver but they are running a King Air. All fun jumpers, no tandems. Not a ton of loads but it sounds like there are a lot of wingsuiters up there and everybody is having a great time. Otherwise, your options are Mile-Hi in Longmont (otter but I heard that it's a tandem factory now); Colorado SkySports in Boulder with a 206; or Skydive The Rockies west-southwest of Colorado Springs with a couple of 206s. Hope this helps. "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  9. Yup, I was there. It was a fun jump, and it was definately an honor to be a part of it. Justin, the outside video, also did an outstanding job. Honestly, Sister Jane made our jobs easy. Her energy was intense and it was for such a good cause. I hope that some day the people in Haiti will be able to see the video and learn about her efforts. 10. Ya know Hecker, when Dave called me last night to let me know my heart fell to the floor for you. Most of us that you remember from your early days of jumping have been through this before and know where you stand right now. Alex was truly one of the better ones, and I would say that it gets easier but we all know that's a lie. Hang in there...I'm still here for you if you need it. 11. I'm using it as are two others at my dz. Haven't really had any issues with it. I can tell you this though...there are two using Vegas. If we hit "create disc" at the same time, mine will always be done first. But that very will might be a function of the computer itself (I am running a brand new HP pavilion elite e9820). One nice thing about it is that it is a stand-alone program, so you don't need any other kind of burning software to create your disc. What I found saves time is I have a template with the motion disc menu, the leader and trailer on it. Since these have already been burned, they don't have to "re-render" every time. The only thing slowing me down right now is me...I have only been computer editing for a month now and am still getting used to my own way of doing it. But once I hit "create disc", the disc is out in about 4 minutes. I have not had any problems with it crashing or anything of that nature. The only odd thing is that when I go to import, the preview thumbnails it creates do not show the actual footage. The footage is correct, just the "import preview" thumbnail. But if you set it up correctly, it will only allow you to import the footage that you haven't already imported. So you just hit import and it will be ok. 12. Sirloin burger. Just had one myself and it was yummy! "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  13. I know Todd and Skydive Houston was back in the court room today, but don't know for what. John, any idea how it turned out?? "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  14. For your average tandem video. I am using Pinnacle to edit, and under burn options I can choose MPEG2, MPEG4, or DV quality. I noticed that the MPEG2 seems to render a little bit faster, so I was just wondering if there is any noticable difference between the two formats in quality... 15. Is there a quality difference in rendering HD footage in MPEG2 vs. DV? This topic may have been discussed before but I couldn't find it. Sorry if it's a repeat... "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
