  1. can you explain that?
  2. that is what i would have planned. but i am not sure yet how to connect the jumprope to the risers...? PS: would be cool if you had the time to draw a diagram
  3. this will be off topic but maybe interesting though: tom, how big is your pendulator. i once saw a norwegian pendulator in a video and was very supprised how small the system was: they used a ladder to jump into a mini tyrolean traverse which was rigged about 6 meters above the ground. is this a usual size for base-training-pendulators?
  4. what about whiplash when you used base harnesses? did it hurt? (newbie question: does basejumping hurt (alot) when the canopy opens?) how did you attach the rig with the jumping rope and where did you attach the backup rope - maybe you have got pictures of that? i thougt it maybe helpful to use some rubber bands somewhere on the system which hold the jumping-rope back untill you need it. what do you think? PS: i apologize for my poor english
  5. do you mean that the rope really broke? jumping rope or tyrolean traverse?
  6. the reason why i would like to know these numbers is that i am planning to set up a rope jump (with tyrolean traverse - unfortunatelly it is not possible to swing alot so it is more or less a vertical drop) which should allow 50 m freefall or even more - we just started to calculate the system... ...i wonder if the rope-jump can also be done with a skydiving-rig instead of the climbing harness and how much load will then be acceptable to not harm your body.
  7. does anybody know or has any manufacturer measured how much force is effective on each riser on an average slider up, slider down and slider off base jump?
  8. do you mean, that you used the same ropes for over a thousand jumps?
  9. i once saw a pendulator in Lysebotn in a video. i wonder if all of your pendulators are of such small dimension. what are the dimensions of your pendulators?
  10. thanks for your answer! what skydiving canopies does the J4 fit?
  11. freepack: i guess that was a good point! thanks. and it was really easy to pack the raven into the container. good news!

  13. manufacturer says 249 sqft. canopy size chart says 241 sqft. unfortunately i do not know that much about base canopies yet, but i thought that they may have a higher packvolume as a skydiving 7 cell canopy because of various base specific features (e.g. vents, etc.)
  14. i bought a Raven III a few months ago to make the recommended base orientated drills while skydiving. now i am searching for an appropriate container that fits the Raven III. i thought it would be handy if my future base canopy (not bought yet) would fit too - so i could make some skydives with it without the need to buy/borrow another rig. i found a canopy-size chart a few months ago (see attachment) - unfortunately there are no base-canopies listed... the Raven III (with dacron-lines) is listed with a volume of 515 cu.in. - it fits perfect into one of my friend's containers... ...but would my future base-canopy also fit? i am 65 kg (142 lbs.)
  15. skydiver. wannabe basejumper. plan a fjc in fall 2008 or spring 2009 - hopefully. still a lot of things to lear while skydiving. bought a Raven III a few months ago to do the recommended drills when skydiving... there was this documentation about him and his brother on bavarian broadcast a few years ago and i do not know exactly why, but i could not really imagine this nature-boy sitting in a soloy, porter or whatever... ...i was only curious how (safe) someone like him got into base. i do not know him personally so i thought it would be a bit weird if i contacted him (via email) - but maybe that would have been more appropriate than posting the question on dz.com. i apologize if so.
  16. i just read that bavarian climber thomas huber now also is into basejumping, which supprised me first, because i could not imagine him skydiving... does anybody know how he prepared for base? did he make all the recommended skydives, FJC, etc.?
  17. maybe someone could add content to the "Packing>Pilot chutes" section on basewiki? http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Packing/PilotChutes
  18. unfortunatelly basewiki's problem section is lacking of some potentially very interesting content... ...is anybody out there who is able to close the gap? thank you for your effords! stability http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/Stability line over http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/LineOver line twist http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/LineTwist tension knots http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/TensionKnot pilot chute hesitation http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/PilotChuteHesitation pilot chute in tow http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/PilotChuteInTow riser disconect http://www.basewiki.com/wiki/pmwiki.php/Problems/RiserDisconnect
  19. hmm, i am really interested in the technical differences they made from the Vector I to the Vector II and also what exactly makes the Vector I (and maybe also Vector II) an unsafe container...
  20. ok. you mean both are equally "bad"? PS: what if i only want to do RW?
  21. are/were there any major security issues with the Vector I compared to the Vector II?
