  1. Start Skydiving offers something for everyone-- from first time jumpers to world class competitors in any discipline. The facilities, equipment, and aircraft are first-rate and well-maintained. The staff are professional and friendly. Start Skydiving is expertly run & it shows!
  2. I don't think I can say it better than Gila already did. I remember how special Harry made everyone feel. He put his heart and soul in to each day, each student, each load, each jump. I'll never forget watching him learn to fly in the tunnel. He accomplished so much in such a short period of time. My thoughts are with his family. Harry will be missed!
  3. Aaah... thank you! Sales is just not my thing; Pushing people out of airplanes is my thing I can smile, nod and ask questions, though. Maybe I am a salesgirl?!?!?!? Thanks again for the help, everyone. Just having some input made it that much easier to get crackin' on the project.
  4. Thank you! What you've said at least tells me I'm on the right track. The assignment was quite vague, with the only direction what I've already posted, plus "may be used as a reference or training document" So far, I have: 1. Product background/history 2. Features 3. Benefits 4. How to give the sales presentation 5-- I've started on overcoming objections-- but I'm not much of a salesgirl, so it's slow going... Anything else that you think I've overlooked?
  5. So, for a marketing class, I'm to create a sales manual for "an actual shopping good that requires the assistance of a salesperson".... not much direction beyond that. Did some google searches and found mostly books on how to be great in sales. Would love any suggestions, or examples anyone might have... or, if you have something you use at work to train staff-- that would be awesome. Blue skies! (and please let summer classes be over soon) Robin **edited cuz I spell like a skydiver
  6. Sherman will be missed! He was always in a great mood, laughing, and smiling. He also always had the best Halloween costumes... Blue skies, brother...
  7. Aaah... someone else with a tiny head! Welcome, sister. Other posters have said it-- but I have a Cookie (Sm or XS); started with a Hurricane (Sm or XS), and also fly a Bonehead Optik for video. The Cookie is very snug, almost too tight. I love the Hurricane, but I've just about beaten it to death doing tandems. Almost any one that you purchase should come with extra padding so that you can customize the fit. Most have sections in the top and then each side. That should help with whatever shape issues you might be having. If you happen to swing through OH, you can try mine on. Good luck!
  8. I e-mailed it to your dropzone.com account. I'm silly and don't know how to make it small enough to upload to the forums
  9. Yeah, Daizey!!! Glad to have you back in the state where it's round on the ends and HI in the middle Congrats and Happy Holidaze!
  10. You can check here: http://cypresusa.com/. Toward the bottom of the page, there is a used Cypres estimated value calculator. It asks for DOM, last service and batteries, etc. and will give you an idea of what it's worth. Good luck! edited for derr factor.
  11. I want to jump your tandem rig! Our Vectors weigh in at 50-55lbs, and then there's the student harness...
  12. We have a scale, and we use it. We also have prominently posted signs: "Due to safety considerations, tandem skydives are not recommended for individuals over 240 lbs or those not in reasonably good physical condition. Various factors will be assessed to determine our ability to take you on a tandem jump. These include but are not limited to: weight, height, body type, and medical history. Our instructors will make the final decision." This info is on our website, and we also tell customers as they schedule what our weight limit is. Everyone gets weighed discreetly in the corner, out of view. The few times that we've had to turn someone away, they handled it fairly well, as the focus was on their safety. We do not charge heavy customers more, but our instructors do receive a small bonus for taking anyone 220-240 lbs.
  13. We don't have wireless, but we can probably get you on-line. So, we'll have Odysseys from Sunpath, Pilots from Aerodyne, and it looks like we'll be doing some sort of contest related to the 101st patches/stickers/NOT-badges-- Don't forget that the WV boys will be in town, as well as a contingent from Canton. Ed Zell will be belly-flyin' organizing. Who's got the inflatable toys? The CASA is the best for raft jumps!!! You know you want to...
  14. Oh, yes-- and what Matt said: The Screaming Eagle badges (with your SE #) that you can earn by doing a 4-way that forms a 1, then a 0, back to a 1--or a larger formation that spells 101. You get a sticker of the 101st PDT and a card with your SE number for 2 bucks. Proceeds go to the 101st Association to apply toward the care of the Division Wounded. Fun skydives for a great cause-- plus, you get a badge and #!
  15. I have it on good authority that the WV gang will be in town... we all know that means a Good, good time!

  17. I love to fly camera, and miss it since getting my tandem rating... but, at our DZ the vidiots do their own editing, so for the time/$ it's almost easier to stick with tandems.
  18. Oh, yes-- I remember! The snakes in that movie gave me nightmares. They were very creepy and evil. Hadn't seen or thought of Riki Tiki Tavi in years, though.
  19. A+ (easy to remember, since it's the best grade I ever got without studying)
  20. You know you're always welcome! And while we'd like to be so busy that we need you to work, I'm sure that we can spare you for a fun-load here and there. And, (act surprised, everyone), I'll be there!
  21. Plus, we're working on more special surprises... You have to come to find out!
  22. You might want to access some resources from Jump Institute, Selection.com, and Team Fastrax. Dave Hart is touring and using skydiving as a team and business building model-- wrote a book, even. Jumpinstitute.com Good luck!
  23. While I'll agree that the Hurricane is designed better, it's not fool-proof against riser strikes. I lost my Protrack due to a riser strike (with the Protrack mounted on my Hurricane). L&B stepped up and took very good care of me, as well. Gotta love 'em!
  24. I tried to add an event to the Calendar, but each of the "add an event" links just takes me back to my main menu. What do I need to do differently? Spanks a million! Robin
