  1. Was 8 way an event at Nationals this year. I saw it was on the calendar, but no results were posted.
  2. " The black humor going around down here is that no one thing or person could kill fun CRW ...it took a committee. " HAHA, how true
  3. From the USPA website. The IPC is searching for three 2-way sequential canopy formation teams, three 4-way formation skydiving teams (each team with their own cameraman) and 15 accuracy jumpers to be part of a World Games test event held in Kaohsiung, Taipei. Competitors are responsible for transportation costs to Kaohsiung. All jumps, board, accommodation and related expenses will be covered except practice jumps on July 18. Practice jumps will cost the following: accuracy, $10; CF, $15; and FS, $20. The competition will include six rounds, beginning July 19 and finishing by 11 a.m. on July 21. The medal ceremony will be held around 1 p.m. on the last day. Competitors may leave that evening or the next day. It is a first-come, first-serve basis, and all applications must be received no later than the end of April. For more information, contact Marylou Laughlin at [email protected].
  4. It seems strange that you think those guys put together a 4 stack in about 10 feet. It looks like they are flying past the bridge.
  5. Safety----- Watch the person that exits behind you. Your canopy is flying and you are already under control. You can see him/her open with a 180 and then laugh as you sidestep them, or get killed if you were not watching. Blue Skies
  6. Yes, Dean has great hands..................
  7. No the breaklines are the thing that slow down the slider. thats why they shrink alot faster than other lines also as they take alot more friction from slowing the slider down. Uh, aren't the brake lines the lines that speed the slider down? Being at the highest angle? and that's why they shrink the most, due to that angle?
  8. It looks to combine the worst of both systems, into a neat little deadly package.
  9. OK kid, do you feel that? Ta Da
  10. I remember thinking that the magnets were a little too high-tech to ever catch on
  11. Interseting, and nice pics. Too bad this won't help at all, and will probably make the slippage worse.
  12. Where did you find the 3 harness repairs max rule? The possibility of damaging the webbing is on a case by case basis. You could hurt it the first time (at the factory) or on the 100th repair.
  13. Yes, a bunch of times. Those plastic ones are cute. Spend the very minor amount of $$ to get 2 nice, metal ones (they'r easy to drop). Mount one high (main lift web) and one low (leg strap), you may have the stuff you want to cut hiding your one and only.
  14. wow, you've certainly seen a lot for not being a rigger. Kind of hard to believe.
  15. I have lots of reserve rides. I don't know where some people get there views, but both of those reserves land well when loaded at a range that you would want to land "out" with. The PD lands better loaded up, for someone that regularly lands a highly loaded canopy. The Ravens do better on the light end. If you get a lot of reserve experience, take some main packing lessons.
  16. Even a Sharpie will not adhere well to Spectra, and it will end up on your canopy, bag & hands. Although it won't harm the Spectra or nylon.

  18. Canopy Apex Retraction Originally conceived and tested as a reefing method, retraction of the canopy apex with an axial control line has more recently been used as a means of both shortening the filling time and increasing the effective drag area of the fully inflated canopy. For this purpose the apex retraction line is made a fixed length which will pull the apex down a distance in the range of 0.25 – 0.40 times the nominal diameter. There is an AIAA paper on the subject, AD 764 364, May 1973.
  19. As far as hard deck, it depends on the equipment. 1500' is alright for a sky-hook equiped resreve, but you could go as low as 500' with a Racer.

  21. A sloppy thread take-up lever is an easily accessed indication of general wear & tear
  22. That pic is a split group type, NOT a piglet type. The Piglet used a full stow diaper like appeared later on the Phantom rounds.
  23. Sorry if having stuff stolen by a fellow skydiver makes me cynical. I would think that at pull time, being "right with the world" would be important to most folks.
  24. If you "found" a digital camera with it's case at Eloy on the last day of nationals, please mail the two SD cards to Eloy manifest. They had 4 teams of memories on them that cannot be replaced. Keep the camera as your reward. Your karma depends on your actions.
