A few weeks ago, I went to volunteer at Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. I taught them how to use social media. Was in LA for the weekend on biz, and managed to sneak down to Perris for a jump on Sat. Took a friend who wanted to do a tandem. Didn't have gear, or a log book, or anything - Everyone at Perris went out their way to help, from calling my last jump DZ to confirm I was current to even teaching me a few packing tricks - Super, super cool people there. Only got to make one jump before I had to bail back for work, but everyone couldn't have been nicer. Truly a class act - how skydiving is supposed to be. When journalists have urgent queries that can't wait for email, the Interruptive technology of Twitter (to cell phones, to berries, to text, to IM, all in one unit) proves massively invaluable - CNN can get to my 38,000 followers in one heartbeat, and get their answers. 2) Answers in immediacy.
