    Up in the Air

Anyone seen it? It's hands down, one of my top three movies I've ever seen. Discuss. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  2. If you can't get any satisfaction, check out www.elliott.org - Friend of mine, has a TON of pull with the airlines - he's like an ombudsman. The fees charged for changing flights are collected by the airlines, not the agent (whether its Expedia, which I use all the time, or another 3rd party agent). If you dont want to pay change fees, buy full fare economy tickets in the 1st place, which is expensive. PS: I've changes several tickets via expedia, and found their service reasonable. Agreed - End result, read the fine print. Cheaper isnt always best. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  4. This is the best freaking piece of advice I've ever read here. The second I read this, it all clicked. (says a 200 jump wonder who hasn't yet learned to pack in anything under an hour.) Thanks for this. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  5. When Karma, my cat turned 9, she was diagnosed a hypo-thyroid condition. Surgery worked the first time. Now, at 10, she has diabetes. Two quick shots a day, and it's like nothing ever happened. She's a pet. She's a member of my family. To me, it's the same thing as having a child. I suppose if a child needed an expensive surgery, some of you here would opt to put the kid down, too? "It's just a kid, we can have another." Sorry - Not trying to start shit, I just don't understand that logic. Love is love. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 6. I'd love to [funnel] take part in a dizzydotcom jup. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  7. Who's in? I arrive around 10am on the 25th into Orlando, and will rent a car, if anyone wants a ride. Edited because spelling is a problem. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  8. I want in, please! 20DC5C25 Thank you. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  9. I think it's just so adorable that you're thinking this is new - i.e., that prior to Google StreetView, you had ANY level of privacy. That in the past THIRTY YEARS, you had any level of privacy. Yes - It's Google StreetView that's going to take away your privacy. Not that you're video taped approximately 60 times between the time you leave your house and the time you hit your office. That your EZ-Pass could be used to get you divorced... That you're more on the grid than you'll EVER realize. Yes. It's Google StreetView. That's just... special.
  10. Fortunately, you guys remind me why I so rarely post in the Bonfire. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  13. Having went through that with my Grams, sorry you have to go through it. There are some quality places out there, but it takes looking. Either way, that sucks. I'm sorry, buddy. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  14. As I kill time waiting for my flight back to NYC at the Rio bar, I just notice that and thought I'd share. That's all.
  15. Where do you think I got the initial query from? And I'm allowed to violate the Five Rules of HARO because HARO, well... OK, seriously? Duh. HARO IS MINE. (And, because this forum isn't Google searchable, so the reporter won't get pissed that her email got spidered, which is the reason for the five rules of HARO in the first place, which means I'm actually NOT violating the five rules of HARO, so... nyah. :) But thank you, sir, for the recommendation - feels quite good.
  16. I just forwarded it - I don't know any more than that. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  17. Hey gang - a reporter is doing a story o skydivers from Oregon, wants to talk to you. If you're from Oregon, shoot her an email - [email protected] - Her name is Brenda Eden, and she publishes Oregon Adventurist. A way to get your 15 minutes.
  18. Actually paid $400 all inclusive of lawyer, fine, and court costs. But that was in South Carolina. They apparently just got paper money there. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  19. Been playing with it for over a week now (Motorola's PR team sent it to me early.) Initial thoughts: 1) It's slick as hell. The tech behind it (and the Android platform) rocks. Good hardware and software. 2) There are many more apps for the iPhone, but that's IRRELEVANT. Fact is, 1) how many do you really need, and 2) the ones on the iPhone that matter (finance, games, personal tech, travel, etc) are all on the Droid was well. 3) Touchscreen: Having moved from a Berry to the Android, I felt like I needed a Xanax for the first few days of using the touch screen. But it's gotten easier. I like it now. 4) The only downsides for me (and they're big ones) are... a) No international phone. This isn't the Droid's fault, but Verizon's for using a CDMA network while the rest of the world is on GSM. b) No Auto-Text - not auto-correct, but auto-text - i.e., the ability for me to type "myaddy" and have it convert into my address, or any of the hundreds of other quick-changes I've built into my Berry over the years. c) Can't get the damn shutter sound on the camera to go away. Lame. Other than that, it's good. If you're not using it totally for a business environment, you'll love it. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 20. Incorrect, but thanks for playing. I was 100% dead to rights wrong. In the end, I paid a fine and paid the attorney, and didn't get any points attached to my license. That to me was the biggest issue - I'm happy to pay the fine - if they use it to teach high school kids not to speed or whatever, awesome. But had I received points, my insurance rates would have gone up. It was my first ticket since I was like, 22. How does that help me to have my insurance rates go up? It doesn't. So I paid the fine, and paid an attorney to make sure I didn't have any points. Insurance doesn't go up, and now I slow down. Happy? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  21. Lawyers will almost always plead you down to no fine/no points if they're good. It'll cost you as much as the ticket, but you won't have your insurance rates go up. I recommend it. I.e., worked for me, when I got nailed 21 over the limit in SC. Second: Don't get nailed 21 over the limit in SC. Just saying. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 22. Entrepreneur - I founded HARO - http://helpareporter.com and I'm a public speaker. I'm on TV a lot, live on a plane, and am perpetually tired. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  23. So for those of you who have the issue - does Marge take it all off? She does not. See-through topless nighty in one, that's it. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
