  1. That was easy. Yes. Must stop saying "at the end of the day." Just got to FOX, got 20 miniutes to stop sweating b4 filming O'Reilly. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  2. Take it a step further - Now doing Bill O'Reilly on Fox News at 8:45pm, too! What a day. :D I'd venture to guess that Woods is not happy with this add, but Nike, by right of contract, decided it was a good idea. What's the old saying... "There's no such thing as bad publicity!" I'd venture to guess that's hogwash. I'm sure Woods has final say on the use of his image by any sponsor. Nike doesn't own Woods, or his image. You can be sure of that. I'd even venture that Woods is using this as an opportunity to further his public apologies, in a venue that doesnt allow any follow-up questions by the press. His little brain may not be too smart, but his big brain is (when he uses it). _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  3. TOTALLY what I said - I've never felt worse about shit I did then when I had to hear it from my dad. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  4. If you've nothing better to do, tune into CNN at 4pm. I'll be talking about Tiger Woods and the new Nike ad he did. Anyone see the ad? Thoughts on it? The ad is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIYejgkqd0o _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  5. Actually, it's an excellent argument based on your info - I said that it is their personal choice to pay for a dog while others die. I don't agree with it, but I respect it. If that's not personal choice, I don't know what is. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  6. Wow, thats pretty harsh. Just to throw it out there not everyone wants or is prepared to take care of a rescue dog. We hear a lot of good rescue stories but trust me there are a lot of bad ones too. It's not fair to judge someone because they made an educated decision that is different from your own. You're right. That was harsh, and for that, I apologize. i just don't understand why anyone would a) spend money on a dog that's been bred when there are millions of dogs who will GUARANTEE TO DIE if they're not found a home. It's like, "not only will I waste my money on a dog, but by doing so, I'll also sign some other dog's death warrant. Just seems wrong. My opinion, and I apologize for my harshness. It's obviously your choice, and I respect that, even if I don't agree with it. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  7. Thought you guys would love this - I know there are a ton of Shuttle geeks on DZ. http://www.facebook.com/PeterShankman#!/video/video.php?v=382626186673&ref=mf _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  8. So sorry for you, but I gotta say it, that's Karma for not getting a rescue pup. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  9. Agreed - But perhaps the employees weren't the ones asking. Just a thought.
  10. You guys have been spectacular. Thank you so much for your input - You've given me everything I need. It's gonna be a "burying my head in my pillows and doing a lot of thinking" weekend. I HATE weekends like this. Either way, thanks, all - As always, much appreciated. -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  11. Less than five years at the company? Two weeks, plus one week sick time? It's been way too long since I've worked at a company that cared. Anyone? An employee asking - I have NO idea what to tell him - Pretty sure it's 2 weeks vaca plus 1 week sick, then after five years it adds on? Or I'm wrong. HELP! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  12. OMG - I never even thought of that! Yeah - I haven't been in a plane for skydiving without a rig ever! That's gonna be WEIRD! I got invited because the Army is trying to grow their social media presence, and I know a little bit about the industry and have a little following online. So it should be incredibly exciting. And yes - Totally, totally stoked. Giggling like an 8-year-old. Whee! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  13. Bush Sr. ( an awesome man, American, warrior and patriot
  14. I dont think he would have a choice in the matter of solo vs tandem, being that its on an Air Base... That's probably a given as well - But I'm just so freaking honored to be asked! I have such amazing respect for the military, and to combine that with my favorite hobby... Wow. I'm just so honored! These are the guys who jump the Bush Sr.! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  15. I just got invited to do a Tandem with the Golden Knights at Andrews AFB!!! And before you ask, I'm not even GOING to ask them if I can jump solo with them. It would be like me challenging Warren Buffett to a "who can invest more wisely" contest. I am SO stoked!! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 16. Eh, if someone can't find my email address, or how to contact me, they don't know how to use Google. :) I don't mind. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  17. Email me- [email protected] - I've got a guy. Let's see what he can do. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  18. Don't you find removing twists in the brake lines more difficult if you're still wearing the rig and ducking swoopers? Usually it's not a problem re: wearing it. And I tend to land in what's scientifically termed "Way the hell over there," so I'm usually alone, getting ready to para-hike. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  19. So you put them in the keepers, then get to the packing area, "unkeep them" and the set them? Isn't that a good way to forget to set them? Not at all. Stowing toggles is part of the landing process, not the packing process. Setting the brakes is part of the packing process, not the landing process. I'm getting kicks out of all those who are confusing "stowing toggles" with "setting brakes". When I land, I take the toggles, set the brakes, and stow them. I guess it's just the routine I learned - In my head, putting them in the keepers, then getting back, packing, unkeeping them, setting them, and keeping them again seems like more work. But hey, whatever works for anyone is perfect for them. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  20. It means "I want to have sex." I love it when people don't know that. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  22. Can you email the interviewer directly and ask for feedback? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  23. Pleasure was mine, Jon! - Thank you for introducing yourself!! :) Next time I'm out there, let's jump together! I'll let you know. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  24. I've met Dan several times - we have several mutual friends, and we both work in the same industry (non-skydiving.) He's a good guy. Plus, he's like, one the top authorities on sick and old-age cats in the world. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  25. So I was out in Austin this weekend, giving a speech at the South by Southwest Interactive conference. Arriving on Friday, I tweeted out "Hey, I wanna go skydiving. Who wants to come?" Seven people wanted to Tandem. We showed up at Temple with no reservations, and they could not have been nicer. Spent the entire day there, with awesome people, great times, and I got two spectacular, spectacular jumps. One of the guys there was a videographer, and we got the following video done - Enjoy it. http://vimeo.com/10159944 Thank you, Skydive Temple. Class act. I'll be back. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
