Jim Horak is a big reason I still skydive today. It had to be close to 11 years ago now that I accompanied the Alabama Gang to my first boogie on Memorial weekend in Elberta. I had about 7 static line jumps, not progressing well and thoughts of quitting had entered my psyche. It works out that being a non-jumper I drove the van to pick up skydivers from the Flora-Bama for most of the weekend and in exchange Jim offered me an Instructional tandem. Though the jump was “free” I was very hesitant. His presence calmed that demon on my shoulder he spent a lot of time going through the dive flow before and critiquing my performance after. He cleared me for AFF IV and instilled a confidence that I carried with me throughout my time as a student. It was his spirit, attention to not only detail but to me as a student that made me want to continue in the sport. To this day I do not know what would have happened if it would have been anyone else. I just bought this beut from a yard sale for 25$ hadn't run in 10 or more years. Owner couldn't get it started. Cleaned the carb, replaced battery, cleaned gas tank, changed transmission oil, refreshed the 2 cycle oil, checked compression and spark. I still couldn't get it started. It turned out to be a clogged muffler. I put the muffler in a hot fire to clean it. Reinstalled the muffler, and the scooter fired right up first time. I did have to go back later and use a chemical solution to remove all the rust from the inside of the fuel tank. That stuff worked great! No I can get up to 28 MPH 100 MPG and I have a blast riding thru the neigborhoods. Its a 1978 Honda Express with a spring starter. +1 It is crazy for the states to adhere to a popular vote and not the country. The number of electoral votes allocated leaves too many questions but an overall popular vote would alleviate this. However it would make ties or close calls kinda hard to resolve. Surely there has to be a better compromise than the current system. BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

Actually, to get technical... Figuring 24 cans per lb. Recycling prices are very low. The highest you would get is between .36 to .50 per lb. So 1000/24 * .36~.50 = 14.99 ~ 20.83. No if you live in a by back state figuring .05 ~ .10 per can = 50.00 ~ 100.00 but since those states pay a subsidy your potentially higher taxes would help pay for the fee. On the other hand 1000 beers would be a hell of alot more fun and in a few cases (No pun intended) still be more profitable. edit to add: assuming 1 beer = 1$ BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

Not in jail but rode in a police car once. Fairly new jumper ~ 200 jumps. Barefooted beer load. 3 rd out with a big canopy (Should have checked the spot ) no way to make it back to the DZ. Chose my landing area popped the beer, guzzled it and landed in someones back yard. Barefoot, empty beer can in hand in someones back yard knowing that there has to be a law against this. Then a police car pulls up... Luckily she was friends of the DZ and took me back. It was a hoot for everyone; pulling back up to the DZ in the back of the car.
