  1. It only bothers us because they are not taking a risk just for themselves. It's the person who can't voice their opinion. It is more then a risk it's a sure thing. Thats B#$l S^&t. I take my life in my hands every time I jump but I don.t push my kids out the door without a rig and promise to catch them it seems to me to be similar. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  2. This subject makes me more angry then..., banning hook turns. I am trying to settle down, sorry. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  3. I am bashing old people, only because of there lack of forethought. You can't be thinking of producing these kids because it's just something you want or you would enjoy. You must think of the kids. You are f-ing up there life because you can only give so much. Like I said, you must give 100% and if you can only give 100% for short spurts or for a few years before you physically can't. You are not doing the right thing. Having your own kids is like nothing I can explain, but to have your own parents to take care of is not the same for a teen or even pre-teen use your brain and think of the effect on the kids life. there is a reason why it becomes more and more dangerous to have a baby as woman grow older. 4. I wrote a 2 page response just now and before sending, my computer froze. So inlue of writing it all over I will simply say. It's wrong to promise your child a front row seat at your funeral as a teen thats so wrong I can't even express how mad that makes me. we could all die young but to die of natural causes while you kids are still kids is so bad I just get wild thinking about it. Kids are awesome. Americans are so self centered that we think only of ourselves when we have kids at this age give me a break think of the kids you dumb-ass they need a parent at 100% all the time. You can't give that to them at that age it's b$%l s$it. Think of someone other then yourself people. Sorry for the grammar and syntax errors I don't what to lose this post like the last one so I am going as fast as I can . HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  5. About 14 years ago I was flying a 182 to alt. with 4 jumpers. there was a lot of convective activity and we got to 10G very fast. one of the jumpers was an 85 pounder, on a Manta. They jumped, I got down taxied to the gas pumps at one end of the DZ fueled then taxied back the the clubhouse on the other end of the airport. I walked inside and got some food. When I came back to the plane I noticed the jumpers from that load watching another jumper descend(she was at about 2000). I asked "what's going on, who's on the manta". Turns out it was the light weight from my load. Wow, it took another 5 for her to get down. almost no clouds but lots of surface heating and upward air movement HPDBs, I hate those guys. 7. Carl Adams was the crazy young badass at the DZ when I started. Carl got yelled at more then me and that made my life better. I was the young hotshot pilot and new jumper. I did stuff just like him, as much as I could. I pushed all the right buttons. The ones that drove the DZO crazy and the DZM wild, I loved it. Now Carl is gone and I have two kids, a house in the country, a beautiful wife and all the right stuff. I don't know what happened to the old me, my wife says I still act like a maniac but just not as bad. Carl is somewhere, after getting busted for possession of a couple of pounds of cocaine. He stopped being my hero. Now I'm my own hero. I really love myself. I will always remember Carl though. He bent my sense of reality to the point of no return. HPDBs, I hate those guys. Confess!

If I told you all, I would get grounded at the DZ so I better not. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  9. I do drink socially about once a mo.. When I go out I feel like a chick because I never have to pay for anything. I get drunk once every year or two and I guess I am very fun, so everyone trys to get me drunk. When I go out, I have to stop people from buying me more and more. They just want to see me out of control and stupid, not that thats to far from normal. Being alcohol free is great and when you do have one you feel it big time. Plus no hangover. I started in the sport when alcohol was big, Drugs were still a big thing but on the way out at my DZ. Today the frig is always full of beer and the parties are much more controlled. The sport its self has matured. It's nice to see. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  10. I jump at a small Cessna DZ in Wi. We have some of the worlds most respected and accomplished skydivers here. We have two WT, including last out last in, we have skilled canopy pilots, great load organizing. The average jump # on each Cessna going up is usually arroud 4/5000 jumps and that usually includes at least one person with fewer then 100. We treat new jumpers the way they are supposed to be treated. If we keep neglecting our newbies, we are going to end up with the same people to jump with until they die f-that. I love a hot skydive but I love to jump with someone who is learning so much on each skydive that you can physically see the light bulb go on. It's awesome. Those of us with the skills to pay the bills better start stepping up to the plate. It makes me mad to see people paying others to jump with them we should be doing that for free. I know we all have to make a living but skydiving should be a passion not a biz. I am sorry to those who do work in the industy but I just don't like what the sport is turning into. I don't know where Polk is, but I am here in Wi.. It's about 10F outside and the wind at about 15K. I understand your pain my brother. We just had a discussion recently about the worst weather. which weather is worst. Is the worst weather when it's cloudy and overcast raining. Is it when the wind is blowing at 30+ on a beautiful day. Or is it when it is so cold that you can't phYisically handle it. I think you should make that a thread subject, maybe I will. I think it's when it's to cold. You can look outside and see the perfect sky, turn to the wind gauge and see that no wind is blowing. You can always hope the clouds will break on a rainy day or that the wind dies towards sunset on a windy day. I HATE WINTER.. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  12. I had a friend jump out for a hop n pop, we were at 12G over a very large lake. We were going to do a little X-country. He jumped just before me and about 2-3 seconds after exit deployed. It looked like an explosion, Little bits of paper everywhere. I turned to the other jumper watching and said "what the hell was that?". It turns out it was about $250 in small bills! That was about 10 years ago, we laugh about it today, but boy was he made at himself after the jump, wow. I have never done anything like that. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  13. Thanks for the invite. I have jumped in Eloy many times before and I know what the weather is like. But I am at home with the family for the winter. All my vacation is already used on upcoming events. So unfortunately I can't come to Eloy right now. If you make it up to WI this weekend I could introduce you to - 50 degrees wind chill on the ground. Everyone knows what it's like to be warm but not many no what its like to be cold. Thanks again for the invite. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  14. If I am having any trouble getting my canopy in the bag, I just through it out and get a smaller canopy. That's the easy way. Just kidding, the advice here has been awesome. The answers you seek come with time and experience. I have instructed hundreds perhaps even more then a thousand. I don't keep track. When I see a lot of these people packing after they get a few jumps under their belt, They have almost always adapted my teaching to best suit there own experience and what works best for them. So, the answer is to just get all the help you can, then go make a lot of jumps. have fun with it, it's only new once and after a while, you wish for the days when things were new. Go have fun. 15. letm have it. I am a swooper and a hot shot I do stuff that blows peoples minds all the time. I expect to receive a verbal beating or a grounding if it's over the top. When you do stuff like that you know it's coming. If I keep getting away with it, I do it more and I do it harder. So don't hold back. we(people who think they are without flaw) need people like you(people who know better) to help us step back a stride or two from time to time. Thanks for giving a s$%t HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  16. Thanks, but it wasn't mine that one belongs to a guy by the name of Zahid Nazir. I give credit to those who deserve it. I am far to callouse and unfeeling. Darwin is the rightful ruler of our world. I wish we could reinstate his ideas. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  17. A friend of mine read my earlyer post and let me know he thought it was a little to sraight forward maybe even a bit mean. He gave me an idea for you, that I thought might work. Find another person, be it a jumper or just a friend. Having them with on the drive and pre jump might just relax you, at least a little distraction. I hope this idea helps. HPDBs, I hate those guys. 18. I like the big-way thing, it's OK from time to time. 4-way though, is the way to go. If you look at the 400-way list, most have done and continue to do 4-way. small fast skydives, are were you learn the most. They are much less expensive, are so intense and can be as high pressure as you want to make them. Big ways are all about discipline, and a display of the skills you learned on your 4-way team. I know that when they go looking at the people who want on, if your a good 4-way guy/girl you have your foot in the door. Good competition skydiving does more to hone your skills then anything else. I do freefly a little, but hot, fast, small skydives are the thing. If you want to get on the next big one, good luck, but maybe if you givr you can make the one after that. I just can't shut up I need a time out on my keyboard. I like Marks post hes got the right Idea. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  19. That reminds me of the best jump I was ever on. A couple of years ago, I was at a big boogie and AZ airspeed was there. I went over and since I know (have met) most of them and they knew who I was(sort of), we went on a jump. Just me and 7 of Airspeed. HOLY CRAP!!! we did 16 points in time. I was going as fast as I could and I was behind the whole skydive. I did learn a lot, and I was humbled(that should happen more often). I made sure that I thanked them all for the jump. Here comes the high point of my skydiving life. Craige Gerard and everyone else watches the video(we had their camera man to. At the end I was the only one left in the center with the cam guy. I was going for that one last point, they knew we were out of time and left. I geeked the camera as I went to military power and left to. Craige (blowing smoke up my ass I know) said "now thats how ya track right there check it out you are very good"(can you say spontaneous orgasm). Notice he didn't have much to say about my skydiving, but he did say I was a nuclear powered tracker. At the end of the boogie I went to all of them and thanked them again for wrecking my other 60 jumps that week. That was my first jump at the boogie and wow. So, if you ever happen to have a chance to go up with 7 or 8 of AZ Airspeed don't pass it up. I will remember it forever. I've always wanted to tell that story to someone besides the people on my DZ, yahoo HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  20. I only managed 16% but my wife rounds me out at 46%. She does like girls sexually, but she can change oil. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  21. This was my first attempt at a thread of my own, I guess its not that interesting after I read it my self. So I will tell you what I think. I think you need to make at least a couple every week(on average) or you slip a little. It depends on your skills, if you are very experienced you can get away with longer lay offs because your so much faster then most, that they can't see it, not that your not slipping to. To improve you need to make more then 100 a yr, if your making less your gaining experience so you just don't f-up as much. Your skills are not really improving. I know most can't find the time to make these numbers. I am being honest with everyone in this forum. Thats just the way it is. 15 yrs watching them come and go, this is what I've seen. Of coarse everyone is different, the pace of learning is unique to each person. It's all what your after, a lot of people aren't that interested in being ubber hot, they just want to enjoy. More power toya. that sounded a lot more serious then I intended, sorry. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  22. I have hit the wall. I can no longer say I am anything but what I am. A moderate Republican, adult, parent and husband. My wife says my 5 yr old is more mature, but I drive a...,...,a..., 05 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Auto doors and lift gate, stow and go seats, two TVs, two car seats, 3.8L engine, Black, all tinted. I did make my attempt at youth, I primed and painted the brake calipers on the very large disc brakes, neon green. I also put in a after market airbox and filter. The machine is hot, about 215 hp. I am crying now. At least I have a lot of jumps and jump a super hot rod canopy. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  23. How many jumps do you think makes you current? How often do you need to jump, to show improvement? Why do you think this? What have you experienced that makes you think this way? I am just trying to see if people are on the same page about this kind of stuff. I have found as of late, that my thoughts seem to differ from most on this subject. HPDBs, I hate those guys. 24. To buy a rig without first making a few jumps seems to me to be a waste of $. I would get a few jumps under your belt, demo some canopies, barrow your friends stuff if its similar to what you want. Then talk to more people and demo some more. Now its time to buy. You will most likely enjoy your equipment much more and wont need to upgrade to something else as quickly, It will save you a lot of money and frustration in the long run. But if you don't have any problem with funds, go for it, buy as soon as you think you know what you want. if money is no object then the risk is almost nil. Good luck, have fun. 25. Even if I can't make it, I know I will be well represented by the male side of the skydiving community. I know I will be at the world freefall convention on July. I am a load organizer. I could organize a record jump, maybe a 20 or 30 way at the convention. That would be a record at the convention for sure. So if you can time things right who knows. Good luck!! I love your attitude. Thanks HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
