  1. Hey Selwyn hows it going...? you gona get yr but back over for next years World Challenge. Just thought i had better edit this as Tunnel mom started this link and would be rude not to mention i emailed her on their website after checking out the videos...... so cool to see the kids having so much fun.. makes the future for our sports (tunnel flying and skydiving ) look very healthy indeed... im positive they are going to Inspire lots of kids to go fly in tunnels.. hope we see you all over the pond soon... .. Dave.D
  2. Where's the video? I'd love to see that! it was during the tunnel first birthday party... not sure about video though... was enough people there must be somwhere... guess that means skydiving rules....if its not on video it didnt happen... lmfao.......
  3. well i have been on a 17 way flat in our tunnel and our record is somewhere in the high 20's sit and knee flying... !!!Dont believe me come and have a go!! organise some good stable tunnel flyers and stick them all in there...we will let you if you are safe enough... GETTING INTO THIS POSTING STUFF I REALLY SHOULD GET BACK TO WORK
  4. Things you don't get in a tunnel: AMMENDED * Sunset in the distance!! OK YOU CANT BEAT A GOOD SUNSET LOAD.. * Night jumps!! WE TURN THE LIGHTS OF IN THE TUNNEL. CAN DO NIGHT JUMPS ALL DAY IF WE WANTED * Smells in the different inversion layers, even if it is unpleasant cow crap or forest fire smoke.HMM TUNNEL INSTRUCTOR CURRY FARTS IF YOU MUST... * The cold crisp air. MOST TUNNELS RUN THROUGH THE NIGHT AND IT GETS DANM COLD I TELL YA.. * The weather moving you around, interacting with the planet. INTERACTING WITH THE PLANET?? ONLY IF YOU DONT PULL...;) * The ocean/mountains/lakes (or replace with whatever earth brings your DZ) below. fFAIR ONE... * The canopy ride (and about 100 sub items under this list) YEAH GRANTED LOVE MY VELOCITY * The exit. AGAIN GIVE YOU THAT 1 I LOVE THE EXIT * Putting your hand and feet out the door on the way to altitude.WELL JUST STAND IN THE DOOR ALL DAY YOU WILL SOON GET BORED OF THIS * Seeing the earth from above.YOU ALREADY MENTIONED THIS 1 LOL... * Coordinating with the pilot a flight plan that allows you to flock with the aircraft in a wingsuit for a minute or two.YOU REALLY BELIEVE THE PILOT DOES WHAT YOU TELL HIM...NOT A HOPE * Wingsuts. ARE FOR THOSE WITH NO FRIENDS...AND LONERS * The freedom to try something new without hitting the glass.. GET A GOOD COACH AND YOU WONT * Knowing you can go up on a solo and be alone. No master record tape, no tunnel instructors, no wuffos, watching you goof off. AS I SAID LONER * The ability to track. WE DO THIS IN OUR 16 FT TUNNEL ROUND THE TOP WALL * The ability to dive to a formation and close 100 yards of distance. TRY FROM THE TOP NET WITH AN 8 WAY UNDER YOU (CHALLENGING TO SAY THE LEAST) * The challenge of outfacing a formation and not having any other indicators in your peripheral vision to help you keep your slot. HAVING THE OTHER 7 PUSHING FORWARD AND YOU BENT IN HALF TRYING TO FLY YR BODY AND YR SLOT.. ITS COOL * The ability to spend $100 and have a whole days entertainment (This will buy you about 5 rotations in a tunnel) CANT ARGUE THERE....LMAO... * Taking a student up and experiencing their excitement. NO DIFFERENCE EXCEPT YOU TEND TO STILL BE FLYING WITH THEM WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON AND SEE IT ALL OVER THERE FACE....SATISFYING Now im not anti skydiving....lol i love it and i love canopy flying more. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS IN JEST DONT JUMP ALL OVER ME... HAVE FUN WHAT EVER YOU DO...
  5. The biggest problem we have ever had with injury's in our tunnel is with dislocations, it seems to be the one injury that does reoccurr so please be careful before you go and fly in any tunnel. you will sign a waiver before being able to fly, this is normally where people are not so forthcoming with the truth about previous injuries, my advice is talk to the tunnel staff, tell them all about it, it will allow the tunnel instructor to keep a real careful eye on you and whisk you out the door at the first sign of an incident. As far as i am aware we have not stopped anybody flying that has suffered a dislocated shoulder and any body that has told us has never had a repeat dislocation, its always the ones who dont tell you that shoulders pop out on again. As for skydiving my friend jumps with a left hand pull container because his right shoulder isnt flexible enough to reach around comfortably, this was after a bike accident, and i know of a few people who have had dislocations that jump with braces and some wierd sort of strapping that holds the shoulder in place. i guess we do what ever we have to to throw ourselves out of that plane... blue ones..........
  6. Im working at Bodyflight Bedford in the UK, hope to get over and fly with you guys at the end of the year or early into next year. Will be great to see yr instructors with a smile as big as ours, after all working in a 16 n a half foot tunnel is hard work you know,.... and i wont have anybody tell me otherwise, we have no fun AT ALL lol... would normally sign off with Blue Skies...... but now i'm not really that fussed what the weather is like outdoors as long as its really windy indoors... 7. Real easy to ans this..... Get professional coaching they will tell what to do and more importantly what NOT to do.... and i still say the biggest lesson you will learn is not being afraid when to say NO no matter what..even if there are loads of hot chicks just about to see you land off. better than them watching you being loaded onto an ambulance...lol... soft landings.............
  8. From what I've seen, the best, longest, and safest swoops come from gradual carving turns that build up speed that start high and leave room for adjustments/bailout. I can ans all swoop related questions with ease.... number 1 get coaching from the best... number 2 get coaching from the best.. number 3 practice practice practice when scared go get coaching from the best.... lol... swoop safe... smile
  9. not jumping in on the we are the best thing, but we (Bedford)do have 16 ft to play with sometimes good sometimes bad..... trust me extra room means you can really get some speed up before you smash into them walls.... ;) just like to add a tunnel is a tunnel Flyaway Vegas is not the fastest tunnel in the world but i came out of there with the biggest grin my cheeks hurt..
  10. i would agree with the hr between 4 remember the more time the cheaper it is... also may be a good idea to call the tunnel to check as some places charge more for first timers than return customers or skydivers. i know we don't charge extra but limit the number of students a skydiver can bring per Hr. Have fun.... more addicts on the way....
  11. im not sure i think its just for newbies but you dont get if you dont ask...... id give them a ring and find out...
  12. Hey i have just seen a deal at Bodyflight Bedford for those doing or about to do AFF. you can fly between 8th Aug till 16th Sept @ £75 for 10 min's, sounds like a good deal to me...
  13. AGREE AGREE AGREE droped mine (viso) and it fell into 5 pieces, had a brand new 1 in 4 days. awsome service....thx L&B..
  14. lol...lol...lol... you gota fail before you suceed..... makes the getting it right and working for the first time feel oh so much sweeter..... keep going sounds like yr doing real well..... :-)

    Tunnle Suit

100% agree its not just about lift but how suits fly... ive had 3 different tunnel suits (no names)and none give me as much lift or flys as nice. you fly this suit not the other way round....it makes every move i do easier..... ok plug plug plug can i have a discount on my next one now please.....lol... if there is a downside its the cost and wait.... but you get what you pay for and now they have moved some of the operation to Canada so the times may have come down from 4 months.. amazing suits though well well worth the wait.... blue ones to you all...... dave..
  16. http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/velocity.pdf Can i suggest you try this link, maybe a bit of reading before anyone jumps to sweeping solutions.... i used to jump a stilleto and a katana.....and i thought very much the same about the katana and the velo when i first flew them against the stilleto as in (twitchy) read it from the guys who designed it and test flew it and it will change yr mind.........basicly more flight range means you have to pull a toggle further to get the same reaction.....the velo has the largest flight range of all PD canopies, so you need to pull down further on a velo toggle that a stilleto toggle to scare yrself the same...:)... There is some very good advice to be had from some of the guys and gals who have posted here .... and then there is some not so good advice.... all you can do is make an educated guess on which ones to believe.... happy landings on yr stlleto just keep an eye out for the velo pilots soring past... blue ones........DJ
  17. lol....lol...nice plug for yr brother nige...... hope all is well out in spain dude...
  18. i find going on to something else really helps... i try to learn something, get the basics through a coach, try going for a little on my own getting frustrated then do something else ...within a few weeks go back and it all feels very different and more controled... i say try back carving if you havent learnt that yet. not many people pick this up easy so try that for 6 months....lol... and you will be more than glad to go back to trying head down......(be carefull that back carving is mega adictive when you get it down)....hehe.. have fun and let those walls come............yippeeee...
  19. lol..lol.. well said... but you must remember to change hands every now and then, or one arm gets bigger than the other and you just go round in circles.. How ever you do get what i call tunnel fit. even the unfittest people stop hurting when they do enough time... let the walls come
  20. Hello, I'm David and I'm a tunnelholic It's been 36 hrs since I've been in and don't know if I'll make thru the week..... just one day at a time man, one day at a time OK SSHHHHH, (looking craftily over shoulder)... Ive got small tunnels, big tunnels, tunnels with 1 door and tunnels with none, i got clean tunnels, dirty tunnels, smelly tunnels and down right stinking tunnels... i can even throw in some instructors free for those who want the really good stuff. not that i would prey on the weak............ but sshhhh can you hear that humm of tubine fans........ ........ohhhh just imagine the rush .... of air at 150 mph in a 16ft chamber........ im not a bad person honest........ but i will sell to children........ start the addiction earlier yeah thats the way...... dont tell anyone else but i got some PURE yeah real PURE meet me at bedford.... come alone and if i smell a rat.... thats it the deals off....
  21. Quotewhat kind of instruments are being used to measure decent rates? cypres have an instrument that clocks all the data in a turn (very crapometer) maybe but is very accurate, you can down load data from each jump to yr pc. speaking to people i understand its what they use for testing what with the high speed of turns now. i was told that the pd team doing tests carried 8 cypress 2's each and could get them all to fire on a swoop. (scary thought). and to add my 2 P i have had a viso since sept 06 and i got 72 mph on that under a velo 90 at 2.13 at perris. 450 harness turn. and if anyone who reads this sees Bundy at perris tell him that danny called him a scruffy haired hawaian surfing piss head.... :) oh and tell him getting drunk with him every night for 3 months made my trip... true star... blue skies.....
  22. Hi my names Dave. and im a tunnel addict.....(i am typing while thinking im in alcoholic's Anonymous... but with a bit more fun)....lol some know me as Danny.. i have flown in Parris Areokart, Orlando, Perris, Fly Away Vegas and Bedford. Dont care to remember how much money i have spent in tunnels but its a fair bit im sure... Figured i had to get a job that would pay me enough to go in the tunnel as much as i wanted or get a job in a tunnel...... So im now working at Bedford ....YIPPEEEE. Id just like to say Thanks to those of you at Flyaway Vegas, ( They gave us some time for the hell of it) We had such a laugh in this tunnel, took me lots of beer to get the smile off my face, and maybe cause i lost at craps too but hey cant win em all... .....................................
  23. chasing birds in the park if I live that long. *** ive been arrested twice for this ...... is it so bad. they were all old enough... does this mean im already an old f+@k oh my god reality hits hard dude...
  24. I love it how people jump down each others throats on here. everyone is different and learns different whats good for someone is not always good for someone else. im lucky enough to have had quite a bit of coaching from some of the top pilots in our sport, most of it free through the british army...as i said lucky...the way they teach is or was when i did it, alltitude, lanes then gates. once you got yr turn yr comfortable with the height loss in yr head then you go to lanes and so on over a period of time. they all, bar none would recomend a digital alti.... none have ever mentioned swooping by beeps. but all would say use the technology available its there to help.. they also say "but dont trust it 100% its digital and it will go wrong at some point, so make sure yr ready for that." I tried with a neptune in my ear for setup beeps and just didnt like it, i still had 1 on my wrist as well for visuall. i know people who swoop purely on eye and are awsome swoopers doing a 1000 jumps a year or so for me who does a lot less, i find it hard to judge an accurate height of 800' or so which i start my 450 turn from, i can guess but thats not really my cup of tea, i just brought a VISO, done 40 odd jumps with that and im likeing it a lot. it has a speed to time thingy on it , so you can work out yr most effective turn and canopy speed. if you havent tried one you should if you dont like it try something else...:) im learning gates now and the pond and find im setting up slightly different on each swoop due to wind or whatever, me just getting it wrong useually. so my altitude to turn is a bit different each time maybe a little lower so i have to turn a little quicker or higher so have to get it diving a bit more so beep and pulling certainly wouldnt work for me. I will quote Chris Lynch "if you know yr turn height and make a consistant turn everytime then you SHOULD never be the person who hits the ground at the same time as his canopy and dies, you may still get hurt but hey thats swooping" im probably going to get slatted now so am going to put my armour on....safe swoops i just posted this too. my pal freestyling at perris. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=5157
  25. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=5157 this is a quick compilation of my pal bundy swooping at the perris pond. he loses his shoe doing a blind man and tries to pick it up again on the next run....
