  1. You could come to the St Patricks Day boogie in Fitzgerald, Ga in two weeks. Chuck Blue will be there teaching first jump courses with a bunch of demo suits. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3731428;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ... 2. I sure do wish you had won when you ran... you could have shaken some things up. ... Marion
  3. First let me say, you will love The Farm if you go there. It is a great place. Having said that... if you are already at Atlanta Motor Speedway you are about 35 miles from Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston. The Farm would be about 100 miles from Atlanta Motor Speedway. Skydive Atlanta is a cool place. I will be there on Sunday if you come out. ... Marion
  4. Very cool. I own your book but don't recall reading about that. I guess I will pull it out and take another look at it. Did you ever do a revision of your book? ... Marion
  5. They probably decided to establish a Maori kite-man record and the resulting bickering over how to do it led to civil war and they never jumped again. ... Marion
  6. As a wingsuit flyer, I am drawn to images of human flight, such as Icarus and Daedalus in Greek mythology. I just got back from New Zealand where I ran across another such image (attached). It is one of the kites of the Maori (the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand). They had many practical uses for their kites and made some very large ones. Maori legend has it that the 19th-century ngati Kahungunu chief, Nukupewapewa, was unable to capture an enemy village. After many attempts, he eventually constructed a large kite in the shape of a bird with wide-spread wings. During the night he fastened a man to it, and floated him off a cliff and into the enemy village below. From inside, the man opened the gates, allowing Nukupewapewa's warriors to enter and sack the village. Perhaps this was the first wingsuit flyer ! Are there any NZ wingsuit flyers out there that could add to this? ... Marion
  7. Maybe you missed it but we did get a debrief and viewed the video. As you said, there was a lot going on with Steve's accident, and you must have missed out on that. ... Marion
  8. I was on that jump and it was pretty amazing. I know Mark Harris did the video. He may still have something. I would love to have video of it too. ... Marion
  9. This will be my third Skyfest. Of course I will be there, especially since it is very close to home. Not to bring up a bad subject, but are you sure you will have a Casa this year? Last year you charged a very hefty registration fee and both the Casa and the Pitts were no-shows. Also, I hope you do not handle manifest like you did last year. That got bad reviews from just about everyone. ... Marion
  10. Great presentation Taya, thanks for posting that. Also, thanks for your comments Phil, please keep them coming when further explanation is needed. ... Marion

Anyone else? ... Marion
  12. I'll be happy to do some organizing. I won't get there until Friday night. I asked because I wasn't sure if you were going to have Chuck or one of the other big names there. I am glad you have Chuck there. He took me on my first WS flight at the last boogie you held in Dublin. ... Marion
  13. In light of recent events... is the USPA still recognizing Largest Wingsuit Formation records using the Grid method? Or is everything on hold? I am wondering because we have a boogie coming up in Georgia, and some had talked of getting the Georgia record set. ... Marion
  14. Have you got an organizer for wingsuit formations? Will there be any demo suits, instruction and first flight courses offered? Anyone planning to fly their wingsuits there ? ... Marion
  15. Reading this thread reminds me of a saying I read once... "Arguing on the internet is kind of like the special olympics... even if you win, you are still a retard" ... Marion
  16. For me, it would be worth all the hassle to jump from a C-130. I wish I had been able to go. ... Marion
  17. If SkydivingMovies.com is not coming back what happens to all their videos? Perhaps an arrangement could be made for them to be moved to another skydiving site that has video such as Dropzone.com, or even the USPA web site. ... Marion

  20. Agree... had I not just been on a record jump, that would have been the coolest jump I had ever been on. Amazing too that Scott threw that together in about 1/2 hr. 33 people, 2 aircraft, verticals, and it worked. I would love to have the video of that one. ... Marion
  21. I didn't know Steve as well as some of you. I did get a chance to get to know him better at this event. What I will remember about Steve... Seeing him walking around the DZ barefoot or in flip flops even when everyone was cold and had their jackets on. Pleasant conversations with him around the fish pond, around the picnic table at breakfast, and at dinner at Don Jose's with a bunch of skydivers the night before he died. Sitting next to Steve on the plane on what was to be his last skydive. Nearing time for my group to exit we were doing the usual "fist bump" and I said to him, "Have a great jump, man". To which he replied with a smile, "I shall". ... Marion
  22. I enjoyed that... thanks for posting it. ... Marion
