  1. For as much as three days after you can soak in a tub of cold water as long as you can stand it. That is basically nothing more than a radiation burn, you need to stop the burning which continues long after exposure. This is why it is worse later at night or even the second day. As with all burns of this nature the first step is to stop it from continuing.
  2. Remembering those who have given their lives in service of our country Other than that stuck going to a graduation party Heck I never have attended any of my own graduations
  3. Maybe he says something but nobody hears it. Full face helmets! Maybe someone up front hears it, but doesn't pass the word. Maybe the pilot is over-saturated dealing with the situation and has been too busy to think about informing the jumpers on board. John is this not what training is for? As you learned in the MARINES there is a chain of command, a procedure etched in stone, a training technique that instills in you they way to do things, the time to do it and why. I may be a really low timer but I plan on coming back, I have listened to my friends advice for over 30 years. They are not just experienced jumpers but instructors as well that may have taught many of you here on this very board, if not maybe your instructor was. I put a lot of credence into what someone says when they have been doing this for so damned long and lived through the days when things were not as well scrutinized.
  4. I never knew her but I would bet I have friends who did, what a lovely tribute!
  5. Looks like the commander in #1 hummed it. I have seen that show many times IIRC the plane looked low by about 50 feet.
  6. I have never been for lowering standards, in fact I am in favor or raising standards when possible. I have never been cut any slack, I am however cognizant of when instructors were intentionally assholes. Recently (two years back) I called a tenured professor on his demeanor and lack of decent behavior. At first he was quite offended and after we spoke and I told him why it was important to encourage rather than discourage. We also spoke about why it is important to expect people to do better than "good enough" we became friends after that. Sadly he lost his eyesight and got retired, not much room for designer and programmers who are blind and 65 years old. I related a few stories to him about people who were maybe not at the top of the class but rose to the occasion resulting in us all standing in awe of them. Sometimes people have a lot of baggage and just to be there is a monumental effort. This is especially true of older students who may not have had or still do not have an easy or "normal" life.
  7. That was because they would be utilizing a voice stress analysis test
  8. Because you ask for it, over and over and over and over again. No it is because you like to put others down to make yourself feel better and more important. Shah actually has a very good chance to get laid by a female, he just needs a positive attitude.
  9. I did not mention you, did my statement strike a nerve? The most brilliant people I have ever met or known are actually some very humble and kind people. You would never hear them say a harsh word, they do not seek to belittle others to make themselves feel important. As far as being good in math and sciences there are quite a few very gifted and extremely accomplished people with more than one PhD and they are actually nice people.
  10. These are the plans of professional assholes (tenured Professors)
  11. Engineering schools are a good place to find them. West Point being one of them
  12. Ya gotta admit, we miss Lee around here....
  13. Pull the washer out and inspect with a bright light and see if you find chafe marks on a drive belt or maybe the pump is overheating.
  14. Try using a set of ramps or a floor jack. My cadet deck is so easy it is sill, two pull pins on springs and it is off.
  15. This has got to be the fastest cutting chainsaw I ever used. The only thing that was close was an 80cc Stihl with a carborundum set of teeth. That thing was a beast as well and needed a compression release. If you forgot to use the release you instantly lost skin off your hand.
  16. You know you wear that stuff in public, accountant... yeah sure you are!
  17. That reminds me that I need to order a chain for my Huskvarna saw, most places locally do not carry them. They offer Stihl and homelite etc. I asked at a place that has high end equipment and the guy told me to throw away my Huskvarna "because they are crap" I think he never used one.
  18. OK so what I did was pull the deck off for maybe the 5th time removed every last pulley and spindle, disassembled/inspected/cleaned then reassembled. I removed all belts and adjusted the spindle nuts until I could easily spin them with one finger. I then greased them, but only until I heard the air escape and a tiny amount of grease showed at the seal. Then I reassembled after sharpening the blades and balancing them. The mower deck now works better that ever before, it sounds like a vacuum when it runs, it cuts perfectly. I think what was occurring was that it was over-greased, plus the nuts possibly being overtightened. Thanks to everyone that tried to help. As for those who seem to only try to be an asshole to me, yeah I figured as much. You show people what you're truly like and that lets them know how they should view you.
  19. New fuel, plenty of power, it will pull wheelies if I am not careful.
  20. Everything was greased and belts routed correctly, deck has been cleaned thoroughly. This is the reason I am kinda stumped, if it is not the pulleys under the tractor frame I do not know what the hell it would be. Mind you I am mechanically sufficient rebuild motors and also work on many other things, that is why I am wondering what the hell is going on.
  21. Everything other than PTO and deck is great, last time used was last fall. No changes.
