  1. Yeah the current trolls just don't have the same class. Edit: their general literacy is much improved however....
  2. Depends if bruce willis is involved or not. I've seen the documentary
  3. From the review it sounds like he's actually gone about that the right way - but I need to read the book itself. "After expertly summarizing the fossil evidence for the evolution of human personhood, Craig arrives at a stunningly precise conclusion: the historical Adam was a real individual, of the species Homo heidelbergensis, that lived in central Africa around 750,000 years ago. He bases this conclusion on a range of genetic, archaeological, and paleontological evidence." He's also not implying "Adam" was the first being, merely that he is the most recent common ancestor from what I understand. There were other beings of the genus homo prior to that.
  4. @billvonI confess I haven't kept up with what religion thinks on this over the last few years (i did evolutionary biology for part of my degree in the early 2000's) but encouraging that at least some leaders are becoming more reasonable on this front.
  5. One of the weirdest things i've always found about Christianity has been the unwillingness to incorporate evolution into faith somehow. "Intelligent design" and young earth creationism myths are always rooted in misinformation or outright denial of settled science to the point of comedy (the banana video anyone?) Interesting new book out that I've just seen a review of that I think I need to get hold of, that puts adam and eve as real people and common ancestors 750,000 years ago. https://www.skeptic.com/reading_room/mytho-history-evolution-of-adam-and-eve-quest-of-historical-adam/ If it reduces the gap between religion and science it can only be a good thing.
  6. You've seen the other movies right?! Realism isn't high up the agenda! Thanks for the review though, sounds like it's worth a watch!

The source pretty much guarantees that the article will be a complete work of fiction. Hard pass.
  8. Hadn’t heard sky puppet. Sky wizard maybe.
  9. Agreed. The only unrealistic bit was the guy in the crowd who suddenly twigged that they were lying to him. Most people this satirises are not that self aware.
  10. Dont disagree with the quote - but wasnt the person who said that mike tyson? Calling him Wise is a stretch!
  11. Wisest philosopher might be pushing it a touch there .....
  12. 1. Skydekker already effectively made the video look dumb. 2. You have a consistent record of posting lies and disinformation while pretending to be smart - at this point, it's pure masochism to click on anything.
  13. ANYONE who supports trump cannot properly call themselves a christian. There has never been anyone who embodies the 7 deadly sins in one man as unashamedly and completely as he does.
  14. Meanwhile, 80,000 mine workers WANT Joe Biden to pass BBB.

    covid-19

Yeah agreed - I'd love to know how that works. Generally the thing about evolution/ natural selection is that the phenotype that thrives is the mutation that beats whatever is in place. From what I can read from that article is that this gives the ability to vaccinate, in one go, against up to 24 possible variants, or variant "families". Without going into the research (and really, I should still be working) - doesn't this just mean that its the 25th variant that will get us next?
  16. This was probably the biggest thing as a child that brought me to the conclusion that it was all bs. The fact that there were different groups of people with opposing viewpoints, all equally convinced that theirs was the "one true way". The only reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong.
  17. Says the guy acting like the quintessential snowflake.
  18. Me too, however the system is broken for them to be able to accumulate that much wealth, where nurses and teachers who work just as hard, struggle even to get by. There's this perception that these guys have worked hard and earnt those billions, which really just demonstrates how little people really understand what a billion is. To those people it's really just a number - they are so far past the point of being able to afford literally anything that it's insane, and generally they are inflating that number at the expense of the minimum wage folks at the bottom - particularly bezos.
  19. I get what you're saying, but its private as opposed to corporate. "Consumer" would probably be a better description.
  20. So meadows was using private gmail, signal and a personal cellphone for official business and for comms on Jan 6. "But her emails....."
  21. For the same reason that burning down a christmas tree is an attack on the fabric of the country and democracy, but storming the seat of power under the urging of the outgoing president to try and usurp an election on Jan 6 is no big deal.

In this case the dead cat is Omicron, and the thing he wants to distract from is the passing of sweeping anti protest laws (amongst other things). From Wikipedia: Boris Johnson employed Crosby as his campaign manager during the 2008 and 2012 London mayoral elections, and wrote of his advice that "There is one thing that is absolutely certain about throwing a dead cat on the dining room table – and I don’t mean that people will be outraged, alarmed, disgusted. That is true, but irrelevant. The key point, says my Australian friend, is that everyone will shout, ‘Jeez, mate, there’s a dead cat on the table!’ In other words, they will be talking about the dead cat – the thing you want them to talk about – and they will not be talking about the issue that has been causing you so much grief."[

For context, Boris is also doing this to distract from a bunch of other shitty things that he's responsible for. He's well known for the dead cat technique.
