  1. Hmmm, wonder what went wrong with the link. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/616394-REG/Litepanels_LPMICROPRO_LPMICROPRO_MicroPro_LED_on.html Thanks for the info.
  2. Is this the one? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=product&A=getSiblingItemDetail&Q=prev&Csku=618069&Cis=REG Or would it be better to talk to your contacts at Litepanels? Very cool setup.
  3. I use photoreflect.com No monthly or annual fees. They take a cut of the sale the the hosting is free. Their tools make it simple enough to upload. You can develop or they can handle that. I usually develop my self locally and then mail the prints. Regards.
  4. That's sweet setup. Is there a link to a site where the Schumacher components are available?
  5. Yikes, 25 pages of posts on the CX100. I've got a quick question maybe it's in here (looked some but ran out of time), maybe someone can just answer. Is there a noticeable difference in the stability of the footage between the CX100 with EIS and the CX12 with OIS?
  6. Sorry to hear the news. Get well soon.
  7. I really did search first but didn't find the answers. Can anyone answer a few questions about the AVCHD files and how to work with them? Is it okay to just copy the MTS files to the computer? It is much faster to copy these files than importing the files to the computer with the software that came with the camera. Even though the 'import' utility is much slower, after importing the MTS files are converted to .m2ts files and .modd and .moff files have been added to the destination folder. Does this switch to .m2ts make any change to the video file? Are the .modd and .moff files important or necessary? What are they for? Is there any reason that the video should be imported to the computer or is it okay to simply copy the .MTS files. After copying the .MTS files, is it okay to simply reformat the card in the camera to clear it? When the card is in the computer the following folders are visible... .Trashes + AVCHD + BDMV with Index.BDM and Movieobj.BDM files + CLIPINF with .CPI files + PLAYLIST with .MPL file + STREAM with .MTS files + AVF_INFO + DCIM What are .BDM and .CPI and .MPL files and are they important? I know that's a lot of questions. Thanks in advance. P.S. Here's a link to a CX12 video I shot last weekend. Click the HD version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbyRKv1z42A
  8. A regional magazine did a special interest story and they would like to publish the story along with four of my freefall photographs. (I didn't write the story.) They have a circulation of about 50,000 subscribers. They've asked me 'how much' would I need in order to use my pictures. I just want to be fair. Is there some formula available, based on circulation that would help with pricing? Any help is appreciated.
  9. I thought the story was going to be a metaphor or parody to highlight current events. Just modify the story where... Nigerian = Government Canadian ladies = Taxpayers $300,000 = 700 billion
  10. I think that you need to include both parts of the question. Not only, 'How many pictures' did you take. But of those pictures taken, how many many did you sell?
  11. I bought from Abe's once. It was a long time ago and I don't remember what it was. But I had no problems with them. I buy mostly from B & H. If another retailer has a lower advertised price, B & H will sometimes match it. But they also will not match if the store/price is suspect and refer you to resellerratings.com.
  12. [reply ... Only systems with FM modulation work well. Satelites use this method and TV, potable video links, use FM modulation. ... If the unit shown is FM, than you can try. In skydiving all is in the line of sight. Ask woofos :-) Andre From their web site, they note that the device uses FM Analog modulation. So with that, you think it'd work? Range: 3 Miles Power Output: 1-WATT Modulation: FM Analog Frequency: CH1: 2.434GHz or CH4: 2.411GHz Transmitter Antenna: 21" End Feed Dipole Omni Receiver Antenna: Built-in Patch Transmitter Dimensions: 2.5" (D) x 3.0" (W) x 1.0" (H) Video Bandwidth: 6MHz Video Format: NTSC or PAL TV Lines Max: 525 Connectors: DC Power, RCA - Video, Audio Mounting: Aircraft Grade Velcro Power Required - Transmitter: 12vdc @ 500mA (without camera) Power Required - Receiver: 12vdc @ 360mA License Required: Amateur Radio License Required (USA), Hobby Use Only
  13. This is all I found on their site. "The higher the frequencies, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz gives us more band width to transmit higher lines of resolution and the video looks more like broadcast quality you would except from your TV."
  14. Can someone tell me why this wouldn't work to provide live air to ground video during freefall? http://www.wirelessvideocameras.net/product/A6/AAR03B__24GHz_3_Mile_Range_1Watt_Airborne_Video_Downlink_no_camera.html
  15. From this link, it suggests February availability. http://www.dv.com/news/news_item.php?articleId=196604470 "The HXR-MC1 compact POV camcorder is planned to be available in February, with a suggested list price to be announced."
  16. No. But even when they get old enough to be jumping age, I don't expect they would ask. One of my primary responsibilities as a parent is to teach my kids to be self sufficient and responsible for taking care of themselves. The opportunity to do fun things is a privilege not a right. If we want to do the fun things in life, there are certain responsibilities that have to be met first. Even with younger children, we've practiced this enough that they understand that we... "Work first and play later." This is just a simple basic truth that even a 9 year old can understand. Another simple fact is if we can't afford it, we don't buy it. If we really want it, save for it and if we've saved enough, then we can buy it. If we want it sooner, then work more, get an extra job, do whatever it takes. Hopefully as they get older, they will make good choices. But by the time they're 18, discretionary spending on a hobby is going to be entirely their choice.
  17. I think it's a great idea. Just let us know when, where(how), and how much. I'll sign up.
  18. When reviewing a jump from earlier in the day, I like the ability to quickly move from one jump to the next without fast forwarding/reversing through a tape. Also, there is no need to queue the tape for the next jump and no worry of ever recording over top of a previous jump. I miss the ease of keeping an archive of tapes. But I think this new way of doing things will be better. I bought 2 extra MS-MT16G Memory Stick PRO Duo Mark 2 media cards. (not cheap). Then I bought a NAS device for some redundant storage. (really not cheap). But I needed the disk space for the video files. I ended up buying new software to support AVCHD format. And I'm trying to learn that. The only real downside is there was more cost than just the camera to get going with the CX12.
  19. They want $300 for the 580? You can get a brand new 580EX II from B&H with a one year warranty for only $70 more ($370 with instant rebate). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/486706-USA/Canon_1946B002_580EX_II_Flash.html
  20. Ah, I get what you are saying now. I thought you meant that if the harness was fitted correctly, then the student could not get their legs that high up. I think that for the few people in the world who can get their legs that high during deployment, it would be good to have the y-strap.
  21. The original post simply noted that certain types of passengers (in this case a small flexible girl) can demonstrate a situation (during opening shock) where they could find themselves in a position making them susceptible to falling out of the harness. Then you said two things. 1) If the harness is fitted properly, this would not be a problem. 2) The Y-Strap would stop the student from lifting their legs. The harness in this example is fitted properly and yet she still looks to be in a precarious position. Also, this girl did not have any problem lifting her legs even with the Y-strap.
  22. You think that the harness in the picture was fitted incorrectly?
