  1. Has anyone done a top mount of both the HC-1 and 10D/20D? Can it be done? Is it going to be too wide? Would a custom FTP top plate be needed or will this combination still be too wide? Planning to replace my older PC video camera before the spring season starts. I've got both cameras on top and like it that way. I'm trying to decide between pc1000 vs hc-1. More comments on the hc-1 appreciated. Like... Does it need special tapes or do our same old miniDV tapes work in this camera? The bottom loading tapes look like a pain. Thanks. -mh.
  2. I've been using www.photoreflect.com. No anual fee. No setup charge. -mh.
  3. This summer I started using flash almost all of the time. It has been working well for me. Attached is a picture of how I've got the flash attached. It is also on a strobo-frame quick attach plate. And then I use a safety strap. I haven't had any trouble with this set up. I also use the Quantum 2+2 battery pack. I wear a weight vest and clip the battery pack to that and under my wing suit. Works well.
  4. I've haven't had the opportunity to use this. Been saving it. Walk into the bosses office and tell them... "I'm not strong enough for this job." After a pause, tell them that was your... "Too Weak" notice Get it? Two Week notice? Good luck.
  5. All I can say is that there is a LOT to be said for keeping the amount of weight mounted on top of your head as light as possible.
  6. Climb Ice. Here are some pics I took of this years ice climbing. -mike.
  7. We did this with a digital camera. The same Canon 10D that I use for skydiving. This would work with any camera that can be set with a long exposure time. I think using a digital camera added to the fun because we could immediately see the results. And, the kids would build the next image based on what they learned from creating the last one. The shutter time varied anywhere from 15 seconds to close to a minute. After I did a couple to show them how, I let the kids control it. We simply put the camera on a tripod, and set the camera on manual/bulb for shutter speed. When they pushed the button on the cable it opened the shutter. When they released the button the shutter closed. Usually the one with the light stick(s) would say 'go' and then 'stop' to the camera operator. The early pictures were a bit more simple. As they saw the results, they became more and more creative and excited about what they were doing and after 'painting' a picture, they would quick run back to the camera to see the results. Again, if you are a parent type of person, it was great fun.
  8. This should probably be in the Bondfire but photographers will appreciate it more. My 5 year old twins had a couple of red and blue battery powered light sticks that they brought home from a class mates birthday party. So we had some fun tonight. I set up the tripod and showed them how to press, hold, and release the remote shutter control to operate the camera's bulb exposure. They took turns operating the camera and waving the light sticks around. They made about 30 'pictures' altogether and had a blast doing it.
