  4. hey man. sorry about that. how about this for a revision. hey, why dont we all just get a van to the boogie? colin, russel, abbie, eric, eric, paul. cheap on gas that way ya ? thats my idea. fa shizzy. Dont die!
  5. wow, i dont quite have the balls to stow it and throw a gainer off something that low quite yet. but i'm sure, down the road, it will happen. all the replies to my post this morning have been really. good to hear i'm not the only one backing away Dont die!
  6. So, i never post my BASE stories. here it goes. we found this building, we cased every exit point and every landing front to back. we had back up landing areas if things went wrong on opening. we wanted to jump off one point of the building but we couldnt get to the exit point due to these TINY little bars you have to walk across to get toit. so we decided to go check out the corners of the building (our other exit points) there was one part of the building that looked do-able, really do-able, but with our lack of experience and extreme fear we didnt know what to do about it. the point was a good 30-40 feet lower than where we wanted to jump (270ft) we backed off, out of nothing but pure fear. i have never experienced vertigo before, but my mind was telling my body it was falling when i was taking those last few steps to the exit. i felt like i couldnt think about the jump, all i was focused on was the fear in my head. it didnt seem right. and i really didnt want things to go wrong. but holy !@$% is it frustrating to drive away from something that you were standing on top of with a packed rig on. over and out. by the way,how high do you/should you be for specific jumps? is 240 high enough for a handheld in the city? whats the cutoff for a static line/pca/handheld jump ? Dont die!

    First Aerial?

i had pretty low jump numbers to start throwin aerials. But then again i was a gymnast for 15 years so i knew my place in the air. Like the other guys have been saying, practice getting upside down off a trampoline. there is a lot of places with gymnastics programs (you just have to look a little ) that do a an "open gym " when it costs like 5 bucks and there is a coach there walking around while everyone just kinda plays. most gyms have a trampoline built next to a "pit" a big foam bed that you can crash in. practice into this and figure out what its like to have your feet go over your head. but then again. thats just my 2 cents. Dont die!
  8. hey colin, you me russel abbie and paul should pile into a rental van and drive out. fa shizzy. Dont die!
  9. in saying "normal" just to clear the air a little bit, i was referring to all non jumpers as they look at "us" jumpers in their eyes. not saying that anyone who jumps is a freak of nature or something totally out of the ordinary. not many people that i know think i'm normal, but in retrospect, i dont understand why people thing that base jumpers are so un-normal. for me, its something that i do that makes me feel good, something that excites me. whats so abnormal about that? gravity sports are all fun and games, and i didnt mean to raise a huge discussion about jumpers being freaks, i was more or less seeing if anyone got that same crazy look from people when they ask me what i do for fun. on the other hand, i never thought those guys who played dungeons and dragons were exactly "normal" myself...but thats just me. Dont die!
  10. in a sense jumping has ruined my life. but in way its like another life i never knew existed until i jumped. do people look at objects the same way i do? no. do most people notice antennas on the side of the freeway? no. when out with my ex girlfriend we would drive around downtown and i would be pressed up against the window looking at the tops of buildings oohing and ahhing rambling about landing areas and such. more often than not, girls get fed up and never let me explain the full extent of why i jump. they dont get it. people dont get it. nobody gets it except for people who climb tall ladders for the sole purpose of jumping off. BASE is like a drug to me. if i dont get a dose of BASE at least once a week, i get edgy. like a smoker that is on a 13 hour plane ride with no nicotine. SO. thats all i have for tonight. anyone feel this way ? grundles. over and out. Dont die!
  11. look, i'm no vet in the BASE jumping world. but from what i know, as some of you may remember i came into this game a very cocky arrogant, punk. i pissed a few people off and jumped with very little under canopy time and guess what, i sprained my ankle on my first jump. imagine that. now this argument about taking someone up with no skydives and no previous experience flying, really blows me away. i thought we were supposed to be teaching new jumpers what the danger is in the sport and why it is soo important that you need a certain number of skydives and FJC's that are higly reccomended to everyone. but then just taking someone up and telling them to yank on the "seatbelts" when their canopy opens and hope for the best really makes me shudder. i dont mean to bash anyone saying any of this i just dont agree with it. Dont die!
  12. i'll hit it and get video and "up" it for ya. Dont die!

  17. dude, DUI's are way more expensive than 500$. i'd much rather have a trespassing ticket rather than a DUI. trespassing tickets (at least mine) have been overlooked, but DUI's are much more severe. anyway... Dont die!

    BridgeDay Reg

do these jump passes sell out as quick as the rolling stones tickets? should i be waiting for the clock to roll around to buy one? or am i the only one who thinks i'll be the ONLY person without a jump pass on july 2nd ? Dont die!
  24. But in this case, I saw someone who was potentially going to do something fairly dangerous (tape off with masking tape), where a very simple piece of advice (grab the other roll of tape) could lead to a dramatically different outcome. back to tom. i was (and once again) in my sarcastic typing tone made a comment about masking tape. i know electrical tape is the "right tape" to use, and trust me, you wont find me at an exit point taping my gear to the handrail without someone there who has done it first. i dont want any injuries, and there is no way i would ACTUALLY tape up with masking tape. SO. back to static line jumps. i like dexters little tool that he has created. OH and i also agree that online tutorials on the board arent the way to fully explain someones ideas on how to technically pull off certain jumps. its just a reference on ideas and previous attemps at doing extreme stunts as you would. i'm rambling, i gotta stop. -e Dont die!
