Been mulling the idea of having an annual packer/rigger appreciation day for the last month. I said something in ignorance about a the quality of someones pack jobs causing my off heading and diving opens. I got called on it and wanted to see what you all think. With more jumps, more time listening, and trying a different canopy, I understand there are many factors which can cause this, not the least of which is me. I hope I am in the minority in blaming my packer and for the record I appreciate the work they do. I could not do what they do. Having seen them slammed during a boogie, am impressed by their abilities. I personally, try to always do a combination. I too have experienced hard diving turns to right on a Sabre. Mine were due to several closed end cells. I did not have line twists but it really makes me appreciate Scott Miller's canopy contro course. A couple of pulls on the toggles fixed prob. This is one reason I have switched to a Spectre. I have a serious aversion to hospitals. I have spent months sleeping in a room with a family member only to watch them die due to the negligence of the doctors. I personally have no issue with anyone not wanting to go to personally visit. Besides, some people have hard time dealing seeing someone who is sick or injured. We all have our issues and I am far from perfect. In my opinion, a call is the very least one should do. I will be visiting him today. Let's not have any flaming here.... A Skydiver friend recently broke his ankle on a bad landing and is currently in the hospital. He said he was surprised that only 3 of his fellow skydivers have checked on how he was doing. DZ has his contact info. Not trying to stir up anything. I personally have a rough time going to hospitals due to past experiences. I jumped there new years day with 25 jumps. Very easy to get into. Wind changed S to E, adjusted approach and landed with plenty of room. On my solo jump, I was very nervous and rushed my pull. This caused a spinning pull which gave me some good line twists. It seemed like it took for ever to kick out. I did PRCP's on the next 5 jumps as per my instructor. I have not had a problem since. Don't let it rattle you. My instructor told me to relax. "You did what?!?!" I am very new to this but had some fairly bad freefalls. I had many problems learning to arch and keeping my legs out straight. My Primary even pulled for me once. My instructors gave me the best advice.....Relax. They were correct. Oh, I did have my freefall videoed at the suggestion of my instructor. That helped too. "You did what?!?!"
