  1. Can I subscribe to Parachutist, and more importantly, Skydiving, online -- as in have them delivered in electronic form?
  2. The wrong thing is that he, apparently, lived. Anyone capable of something that stupid doesn't deserve to survive that. (But maybe once.)

Will has much more experience with night clubs than I do, but I know more objects. Anyhow, "freezing cold" is just about what you'll have with no doubt whatsoever. January is usually much sunnier than December. Come on over!!!

Yay Allan! It's a pity we only got to jump twice. Footage of your smokestack jump: http://ventor.ru/jump36.wmv
  6. Yes, here's what you do. Go to the dropzone. Find this guy. There, problem solved.
  7. Ah, these privateers and their petulant expostulations!
  8. Once again, I observe, it is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day." Once again, I protest. Instead, I offer this counter-endeavor: let each September 19th also celebrate a grand prose tradition of academic stature in antithesis to the vulgar, pejorative parlance of privateers: henceforth, today shall mark "International Write Like Samuel Johnson Day." I compel you to the balanced, elegant, oft acerbic but always penetrating prose style of the great lexicographer. When your pen tires of tar and brine, dip it into this finer vintage and draw sublime sentences. Those pan-celebrants among you determined to satisfy the requirements of both bacchanalia are encouraged to Write About Pirates Like Samuel Johnson. Sans doubt some wag has already considered it. But great art from mean subjects shall rise! How do we know but one of the ghostly, sublime ships in a Turner masterpiece is not in itself a pirate vessel?

So... spooning or cuddling does it for ya, Jaap?
  10. That's old indeed Faber, since when do you climb so high up that you can go stowed?
  11. On first load of the day the jumper flew through heavy rain, getting the canopy and lines thoroughly wet. This changed flare characteristics of the canopy significantly enough that the jumper received a bad case of sprain / ligament tear on landing. Jumper said she flared like normal, but nothing seemed to happen. Dacron / F-111 combo may possibly have contributed (as opposed to microline / ZP--it probably wouldn't matter so much with the fabric, but dacron seems quite likely to adsorb some water). Wingload well under 1, 30 previous jumps. She said her mistake was not practicing flare after flying through the rain.
  12. Wow, that's quite fascinating! Do you remember what gear they were jumping?
  13. I too would like to have a name that means "lesbian" in Japanese "Bartender, three beers for us lesbians!"
  14. No tunnel in this country. :(
  15. I guess when I posted, I was really looking for evidence this has been done before and is not unheard of. I'll get video.
  16. Hello? 15-year-old? The DZ has 15 as the minimum age. Her one remaining parent will make the decision, and I strongly assume it may be a yes. Her choice is that she does want to jump. The ultimate decision, as the one to pay for all of it, will be up to me. I'm torn between an obvious yes (skydiving family member, free packer, someone to share the fun with? hell yeah!) and a reluctant no (too young). Let's word it this way, why should I not let her start AFF?
  17. My niece, who has recently turned 15, is adamant she wants to start AFF. She jumped tandem when she was 13, and pretty much right after landing asked what the minimum age was, and was told 15. Well, she turned 15 a month ago. Money is not a problem for her (since it comes out of my pocket
  18. Does your wife know about the gf?
  19. Funny you should mention that. A couple guys at my DZ borrowed my Altitrack, and when I sent them the logs, they all but jumped out of their pants... turns out their landings have been consistently within less than 10 ft/s of Cypres firing speed. Ignorance is a bliss, eh...
  20. Oh Joni, on the ride to altitude that first time I was so thinking about what you told me about recovering from a spin on your back...
