  1. Perhaps its just the dumb ones that jump from 34ft. you wouldn't catch me going from that height without some support. Will get out the plane at any height but thats usually because either i have cramp from the long ride up or someone has dropped one in the plane in which case everyone including the pilot dives for the door. 2. The solution to the problem is when they are out off the way sell the house move without a forwarding address problem solved. Seriously though Evelyn they have to take care off themselves. The fact they have moved out tells me they are happy to be independent. Be strong it will be best for them in the long run and give them a chance to see what its like to juggle a budget, Don't let them lay a guilt trip on you, your financial job is over. Time for the kids, adults stand up for themselves.
  3. I think it would be worth it in the long run to get a better idea off how you fly Lizzie. Why not discuss it with Stu and the rest off your possee at Peterlee. go as a group you may be able to split costs and share at the same time. We just came back from Lillo in spain and had a fantastic time where Ruth and some other ediburgh uni students got some 4 way coaching. Big difference in their exits from 1st jump to last jump. I know there is a discussion at St Andrews about going down to the tunnels once they are up and running. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
  4. This was my second trip to Lillo, with the last one for AFF training. This dropzone has so much going in all disiplines its hard to choose which to do. Great planes in the Porter which was supplemented by a Twin Otter and Super Beech 99, 7 minutes to 13000ft what more do you need. The pilots are real characters who will drop you on a spot all day. World class coaching is available to anyone who wishes to improve their skill base. The locals are really friendly and easy going. the only thing I would say is hire a car, its about 1.5 hours drive from Madrid airport and quite rural. With a car you have the choice of visiting other towns and cities if you get winded out or just fancy a break. If you consider jumping in Spain check it out you won't be disappointed.

    Gath Hat

This is not the best in the world but for people on tight budgets or who are looking for a open face hard shell this could be for them. The cost and good peripheral vision are the best points going for the gath. The lack off a soft padding makes it hard to wear on the ground but in freefall you have other considerations. The gath constuction is not the best as the helmet can be flexed by hand, in saying this my gath has had a few hard knocks and is still in good shape. In conclusion it offers more protection than a frap or no helmet but not as good as other brands.
  6. These where taken at Lillo in spain off the swiss 4 way team training which was really fun to watch. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
  7. me i am off to spain next week for 10 days off jumping mostly for the weather as well as jump prices. below is a interesting mail that was sent to my yahoo group. The DeutcheFallschirmsportVerband (DFV) have issued German skydivers who may wish to jump at Bad Lippspringe, the only BPA DZ in Germany, with 3rd Party insurance cover of 2.9 million Euros to bring their basic level of insurance cover up to and in line with the £2 million (Britischer Pfund) as afforded by BPA Insurance. The extra cover was issued by the German insurer Allegemeine Gerling, completely free of charge to the German skydivers and follows similar action taken by the DFV to bring German insurance in line with other EU member states skydiver insurance such as France, Austria and Switzerland. German skydivers routinely jump at drop zones all over Europe without paying extra premiums or having to join host nation associations. Examples of this are: ESL competitions, Swedish Herc Boogie and large international winter venues such as Empuria and Portugal, where British and German DZ operators work together in a truly International / European skydiving environment. It is hoped that this action may be followed by the insurers of other European skydiving associations in order to ensure that skydivers of all EU member states (including the UK) have similar levels of cover and are able to jump at drop zones all over Europe under their own national insurance cover. This is seen in Europe as an essential component of the ethos of the European Skydiving League in which international competition grows ever stronger and participants are taken from all the European Union member states. Bad Lippspringe DZ welcome this news and applaud the DFV for taking the lead on an issue that affects skydivers all over Europe. i just don't understand how the rest off europe is so much cheaper than we are for insurance??. any comments people. 8. Mostly bad when younger, gang fights, assault breaking into schools nothing to be proud off but my parents moved out off the area so i could get away from the environment i was growing up in after a stay at borstal (detention camp). That gave me a chance to change my life and it worked. Its amazing to think that the one small action and sacrifice by my parents changed so much off my life. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
  9. Got to agree wife and kids are my purpose in life which drive my days.
  10. Bpa website has a section with useful insurance company telephone numbers who cover skydiving. Me i have made two trips covered with endsleigh with no problems. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun

  12. yes -20 last saturday at 12000ft was cold,so cold. god only knows how many layers i had on. Fletch was spotting brought his head back in with frost all over the bottom of his visor.
  13. Can't say i had any side affects from it although the doc did say if i felt weird stop and get back to them. I think its what works for you that counts and a real desire to stop. Did more sweating on 1st raps exit than with zyaban. billy Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
  14. I gave up last april and no longer have any kind off cravings or thoughts about smoking if you find it hard hang in there, get support. Proffesional help works, i was 30 -40 a day for 20 years but with help from doctor who put me on zyaban stopped after 2 months no problem, patches and other stuff didn't work for me. Thats just me there are other alternatives, what works for one person may not work for others. The only down side was as a reward to myself i paid for a static line jump and that was another addiction (Damned if i don't spend more on jumping and gear ) never mind its more fun in freefall. Never looked back since did AFF course in lillo got "A" licence december about to start Warp training so i can do RW. whatever happens guys just think about how healthy you pocket as well as your body will be. I promise it'll be worth it. best Wishes Billy Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
  15. I know it hurts but be brutal throw it out i moved house last year and got rid off stuff that stretched back 15 years. I am according to my wife a magpie so could never get rid off anything. I could not believe how much crap i had collected. Be clinical it's the only way.
  16. I usually find that cycling gloves work well as they are normally wind proof, not to mention not as bulky as other glove types are. As for cold haven't really noticed it in freefall ( consentration elsewhere ). Only noticed under canopy. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
