Thanks for the replies! So it doesn't sound like something that can be picked up that easily. I'm going to try it anyways. I am in Florida and they have lessons in St. Augustine consisting of a 1/2 day Ground Training and a 1/2 day Water Training. My only concern is getting the kite into the water when I am way off shore and not being able to launch it again and that when the board is ripping across the water, I bet it looks like a huge bait fish from below to a shark! I am going to give it a go though. It looks REALLY fun. And it seems that you can pretty much kite board anywhere there are winds of at least 10 mph. Using a buggy, a snow board, or a wake board. I know it is dependant on the individual, but how steep was the learning curve for you? Did you pick it up fairly quick? I used to surf so I don't know if that would help at all. I just got back from spending a few days on Singer Island, FL and saw some kite surfers there. It looked like a whole lot of fun. Their 'kites' actually looked like very small canopies. After a 6 month grounding from a severe bimalleolar fracture, I jumped again today.... and... IT WAS FUCKING GREAT!!! I wasn't at all worried about the skydive, just the landing. No problems!
