  1. Sigh...d-bag wars. Must be winter. Bored skydivers need something to argue about.
  2. Ha! I don't know and I don't care. Probably some rigger will jump in and say it's against some rule unless a Master Rigger does it. But is is a very common practice. Use common sense and if you are not sure it's compatible ask someone who knows. Sorry, your profile says you have a Rigger's ticket, so I "assumed." Anyway, I did get a PM saying that its not against the rules. Oh, I am an active rigger. That does not mean I know the implications of all the rules. I'm not a lawyer!
  3. Except for the Director the FBI has no political appointees at all. They are all career agents and or civil servants. Trump and the R party's attempt to tarnish them is shameful. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. All of them. They are all cheap and all worth every penny. Take your pick, you can't go wrong.

  6. But it's like love and marriage, or a horse and carriage. You can't have one without the other. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Yes, YOU will have to give up something. Come on, you're a big man, you can do it. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  7. Nearest tunnel to Minot is likely Denver or Chicago. I'm in Winnipeg and I know there is a ton of money in the Bakken. Maybe you could round up some investors and build one in Fargo. Your market would include where you are, a good chunk of western Canada, and even the Twin Cities because they don't have one near them. Let me know when you've got it up and ready for testing.
  8. Perhaps the effect of the wind and drag of the body hanging under the canopy might have an effect? There is more to the system than just the wing.
  9. Probably. But what size would you order? If you want to do that you should find someone with a similar canopy to yours in a Vector and see how it fits. You can do this without disconnecting anything. But the Mirage definitely has a different shape from a Vector. You should also be aware that UPT changed the design of their stowless back recently. If you order one you might not get what you think you will get.
  10. Trump was warned in his private meeting with Putin, with only Putin's interpreter present, that further sanctions would result in him being punished by the release of more information. The POTUS is compromised. God bless America. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. Mirage main containers have a somewhat unique shape. Their bags are sewn to fit that space correctly. Third party bags are not. This goes for all containers. If you want a bag that fits get it from the maker who has the pattern. Generic bags will often work fine but they are "one shape fits all."
  12. rac·ist noun noun: racist; plural noun: racists 1. a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another. "the comments have led to her being called a racist" synonyms: racial bigot, racialist, xenophobe, chauvinist, supremacist More "he was exposed as a racist" (racially) discriminatory, racialist, prejudiced, bigoted "a racist society" adjective noun: racist; plural noun: racists; adjective: racist 1. showing or feeling discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or believing that a particular race is superior to another. "we are investigating complaints about racist abuse at the club" Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  13. No. And I'm not looking it up either. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. Actually, experience the world over shows that it is. The fact that you do not want gun control does not change the fact that it works. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. A racist is as a racist does. You support racists, and you have shown you are afraid of dark people and want them to leave. I cannot know the content of your heart so I judge you by your words. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. Time for my 2 cents on nuclear. It is not going to be the answer. It can be done safely, but at great cost. And no one has yet come up with an acceptable answer to waste disposal. It is essentially a dead technology. And as long as the Sun shines and the wind blows it is not needed. Long term the solution will be distributed, more local, and involve storage of some kind. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. That is easily explained. The people who love their gun rights so much know that the whole situation is wrong. So they mostly just refuse to even discuss it. It's not insanity, it's a strategy. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. Actually we have and we do. The deaths per mile have fallen by a crazy amount since the peak in the 60s before seat belts, airbags, MAD, crash tests, better highways. Tons of effort and cash has been spent on this and continues to be spent. And motor vehicles are very necessary to the way we live. On the other hand nearly nothing has been done in your country to curb gun deaths. And firearms as toys are completely unneeded except to enrich a few arms producers. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. As a general rule there are not discount drop zones. The operating costs and the prices are very similar everywhere. If there is any price difference it would be very small. You are far better off asking what DZ has the best program and going there. As consumers we are all used to hunting down bargains. But in the small world of skydiving there are no Walmarts. Your profile says you have 400 jumps. Did you take a long layoff or are you asking for a friend?
  20. Distracted driving likely kills a similar number of people as gun violence. I don't really know for sure, but the point is interesting. I will note that sometime in the future self driving cars will probably bring that to an end. But I will concede that it has nothing at all to do with a will or plan to stop the carnage. Yes, absolutely. In order to solve the problem gun owners would have to have rights they currently enjoy taken away from them. That is why buybacks, restrictions that come into play over time and grandfathering would all be needed. But even with that many would strongly object to the end of the current free for all that exists. And they can and would be very emotional about any crimping of their right to have the tools of war as toys to play with. That is why the will is lacking. It's far easier to just continue muddling through that to confront the heavy lift required. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. What I'm saying is that the job is doable. But it requires will, and the willing is lacking. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. Have you read the PD reserve manual lately? It contains a fairly large section on what the certifications mean.
  23. So then, just bury your head in the sand and say "nothing can be done"? Bullshit. America put men onto the moon. This is a much smaller problem. Just like the moon program it only takes the will to git'er done. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  24. Sure, there are still a few tanneries around. I believe there is even one here in Winnipeg. But they are very small compared to the number of hides that come from the packing plants. And mostly they produce specialty products. Vegetable tanning uses fewer chemicals and is still done here. But most or the hides go overseas. http://8020usa.org/2017/02/5-tanneries-sticking-made-usa/ This is a website listing some of the "tanneries still in the USA" From an industry report: http://www.rendermagazine.com/articles/2017-issues/april-2017/us-hide-skin-and-leather/ How do I know about this? I once worked for a trucking company that hauled stinking wet cowhides from Alberta to a port near Houston. One of the worst jobs I ever had. I talked to a few shippers and receivers along the way and they explained that it was no longer possible to do large scale tanning in first world counties because the chemicals were too noxious. 25. Not a mass shooting. Just a very sad example of the price America pays for privilege of being able to treat firearms as mere toys. http://time.com/5121966/man-kills-himself-after-shooting-friend/?xid=homepage Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms.
