  1. What is your opinion on the Talon 2 container? I'm thinking about buying a used one for my first rig. Is this a good rig for beginners?
  2. You should learn some other positions first before the head-down. Sit, stand, back track etc. Once you have complete control in all those positions, then learn head-down. Have coach jumps would be the best way to learn how to get stable.
  3. What's the most comfortable freefly position? Head-down, sit, stand, etc....
  4. Daffy is more stable and the froggy is better for turning.
  5. I'm seriously thinking about purching my first rig. What is everyone's opinion about the Talon Flexon container? It was manufactured in 1996. Any information, positive or negative will be appreciated. Thanks,
  6. There is a great selection of rigs for sale here at dz.com. Has anyone bought a rig online, and if so, how can I be sure that what i'm getting is what I expected.
  7. Good Idea, The best of both world's! The interaction between belly flyers and free flyers would be awesome!
  8. I have a couple of questions about freeflying. How many jumps should I have when I start learning how to freefly? What are the first maneuvers I should learn? Should the Head-Down position be the last to learn?
  9. Hi Jimmy, I'll be taking AFF next summer but i've done my homework. Most fatalities are from landings. You get complacent and that's the worst thing in this sport. Many people blame the activities on human error. I guess this is true but don't forget that strange things can happen. We had a person from our home DZ have a bag lock malfunction and when he cut away, the lines wrapped around his camera. Ideally he should have taken his helmet off. But you need to understand that if your traveling at over 100MPH towards the ground with a high speed malfunction, you don't have time to think. I honestly believe that pulling high is one way to keep you safer. Also, never, ever forget that skydiving isn't just falling from the sky. It involves canopy control and landings. Many people over look this and concentrate on there flying skills instead of landing skills. Keep safety your number one priorty and you'll live in this sport.

  11. I definitely wear my seatbelt. I think driving my car these days is more dangerous than skydiving. At least when I sky dive I don't have to worry about being slammed by a drunk driver.
  12. www.audiogalaxy.com is the best. Even download songs when your computer is off!
  13. I almost vomitted when we did 360 spins really fast. If your along for the ride and the Jump Master spins you fast you might get sick. So stay away from quick spins on first time jumpers.
  14. Everyone should do one of these dives at least once a month. You want it to become second nature and practicing in the air is the only way to do it.
  15. Which type of deployment method do you use and why? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each method? What is the safest deployment method for freeflying?
  16. Why are you anxious to have a reserve ride? In my opinion, it's not something to be happy about.
  17. Hello, I have a question about malfunctions. On average, how many malfunctions could you expect to have in 500 jumps? I know there isn't one single number, but I just want an idea. This includes (line twists, line overs, etc) Even if you didn't have to cutaway.
  18. You pull when you want to pull. There is no way you should put up with anyone interfering with that. If they don't listen, don't jump with them anymore. Nobody should accuse someone else that their "not having enough fun." It's none of their business. Skydiving is hard enough just worrying about yourself. Tell this person how you feel and if they don't understand, don't jump with them.
  19. I know exactly what you're talking about. Many people totally disregard the wind when they're jumping. They don't realize how dangerous it can be. Those people you see with well over 1000 jumps sitting out, they're still here. They're here because they know it isn't safe to jump. People who ignore wind as a safety hazard will eventually become another statistic on skydivenet.com
  20. I don't want a ban on high performance canopies. I just wanted to let people know that even experienced skydivers can be seriously injured when the proper precautions aren't taken. When used correctly, high performance canopies are a lot of fun. I just think that if she was on a slower canopy, this probably would have never happened.
  21. Recently, at my home Dropzone a 33 year old women was seriously injured using a high performance canopy. She's still unconscious as you read this. My prayers are with her and her family. I've placed the link below to the newspaper article so you can read it for yourself. If you take a look at skydiving deaths, far too many people are dead or seriously injured because they have misjudged their landing using a high performance canopy. These deaths are inexcusable! I'm sick and tired of reading about landing fatalities. http://198.181.156.134/news2001c/august/10/mn0810g.htm
  22. Michele, you should be a writer. You give such detail and emotion. Excellent job!
  23. My name is Matt Trudeau and I'm a Desktop Product Engineer. I love skydiving because it feels like you leave this world for a while and nothing stands between you and your dreams.

  25. Aff can be completed in a weekend if you have the cash and the weather. Realistically, a week is plenty of time to complete the course. I think its better completing the course in one week because your skills will be fresh.
