  1. I was fairly certain you'd gloss over the 60 Minutes story. Now, I know you did. I hit the link under the video that's blocked....that's where the quote from the Cisco CEO came from. Try again....maybe with something to actually support your claim? Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  2. You said it's hard to come down from either of the extremes, yet you imply that someone that's running scared is going to suddenly flip to attack mode absent being cornered, which Martin wasn't. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  3. So you've got no instances of Romney "letting his religous beliefs dictate how he will govern", then? Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  4. I'm not sure how to reword that to get around your misunderstanding. "That said, fight or flight doesn't abate nearly as quickly as it triggers." Not much to misunderstand, there. You do realize that you debunked yourself in your own statement, right? See bolded, as well as your prior statement that "That said, fight or flight doesn't abate nearly as quickly as it triggers." Either Martin was scared enough to run or he wasn't - you can't have it both ways, based on *your own words*. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  5. Nope, sure haven't. Given that a quick Google showed it as only being something attributable to Lehman... Now why do you suppose that is? Is it because all corporations play by the same rules you and I do, or is it a perfect example of a loophole inserted into the tax code specifically designed by lobbyists so one particular company can take advantage of it? THAT is how our tax system works. THAT is why the tax code is thousands upon thousands of pages long. THAT is how GE not only pays no taxes, but actually gets a refund! No. Corporations are not people. If they were, they'd be playing by the same rules. So, you couldn't prove your "PO box in Switzerland" gambit so you're moving the goalposts? People have the same ability to shelter/move move money to reduce their tax bite. And the GE thing was debunked a while back - I'm unsurprised to see you bring it up again as if it's true, though. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  6. And if it IS a person, should it pay tax at the same rates "natural" people do? Corps pay between 15 and 39 percent depending on their profit. Did you have a point? I'll freely admit I don't know corporate tax law, but are they taxed on profits only and then apply deductions from there or are they taxed on income and deduct from there? Profit remaining after deductions, I believe. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  7. WTF? For one, I've never said that. Post 981 of the other thread. "The effect of this choice is clear...you put Martin into fight or flight mode. Granted, when he stops chasing, presumably Martin recognizes it. That said, fight or flight doesn't abate nearly as quickly as it triggers." Both threads are about Martin/Zimmerman, so how is it *not* relevant? Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  8. Nope, sure haven't. Given that a quick Google showed it as only being something attributable to Lehman, seems like it's a bit of a red herring to bring into a conversation about corporate taxes as a whole. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  9. Offended sure, but I generally forget being offended pretty easily. My real problem would begin when someone started chasing me. I'd perceive that as a threat. Blues, Dave Wait .... I thought you said it was *SO* difficult to switch from flight to fight, before? Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  10. And if it IS a person, should it pay tax at the same rates "natural" people do? Corps pay between 15 and 39 percent depending on their profit. Did you have a point? Yeah, since I'm just a lowly natural person, can I also avoid paying taxes altogether by claiming I didn't make any money in the US if I just have a PO Box in Switzerland? http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7360932n Sure you can, if you make that money outside the US so that it can be excepted. Next lame question? Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  11. How many tax dollars is it worth spending on DWI's? How about speeding? How about the SS Investigation? How about collecting on fraudulently filed tax returns? The question properly stated would be how many tax dollars is it worth spending to eliminate all DWIs or all speeders. Right now we opportunistically catch violators and punish them. Just as we do with voter fraud. 400 cases, but only 28 charges. Doesn't seem like a huge problem when we have voter machine error rates approaching 1%. 28 or 400 voters out of millions is simple noise. And yet, kallend *howls* over even smaller occurrences when it comes to guns. Only you would consider a multiple homicide to be a "smaller occurence". Well, maybe daVinci would too.; Actually, I was speaking to the guns and not the crimes - after all, we *ALL* know that you see 1% of crime guns as a greater problem than the 99% of crime guns. Nice that you ignore multiple homicides as unimportant. QED The word used was "guns" and not "murders", perfesser. Honesty problems again, or just reading comprehension? Why don't you compare the number of gun homicides in 2011 with the number of confirmed cases of voter fraud in 2011. Then tell us that the gun homicides are a "smaller occurrence". ANOTHER attempt to move the goalposts? The word used was "guns" and not "murders", perfesser. FAILEed attempt to weasel your way out of your stupid comment. I refer you back to my mention of 'guns' and not 'murders', which is unchanged. When you have to *LIE* about what I posted to make an argument, it should be a pretty strong hint that your argument is a bad one. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

  15. Keynesian economics doesn't work... Seems to work better than "Voodoo Economics" (C) 1980, George H.W. Bush 102% of Bush's spending in 41% of the time. I guess you have a different metric of "working better". Reagan/Bush's Voodoo Economics led to the greatest recession since the 1930s. You keep telling yourself whatever myth gets you through the day, perfesser. The rest of us will look at 30 years of expansion and laugh at you. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. 16. Wow!!! Great Zinger. Did you think that one up all by yourself? Ya pretty stupid, But then again, you didn't really leave the bar all that high. Didn't need to be very high to get above what you'd already posted. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
  17. So you're claiming that the civil suit that he and the other attorneys brought in Jan 2009 was due to his satisfaction with the lack of criminal charges? And this makes *sense* to you? Looks like you have the same 'excuse at any cost' syndrome that Chris Matthews has. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

  25. That's correct - if lethal force is being used against you, you have the right to defend yourself. That's the part of this whole discussion I have a problem with. Yes, I know we have to defend ourselves, and I don't have a problem with the principal behind SYG - but I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who can pick a fight, end up getting an ass whooping, and then shoot the other person under SYG. To me, that seems to be against the spirit of the law. Even if SYG didn't exist, Zimmerman was justified in shooting Martin due to the lethal force that was being employed against him. His back was 'against the wall' (ground) and he had no way to retreat and nowhere to retreat to. SYG changed nothing about the situation. Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
