  1. 82nd, I jump several types of canopies in a day. I jump a RIOT (cross braced Rage essentially) mostly and have jumped a Rage in the 140 and 130 size. Total jumps on the Rages is around 100 and the Riot around 250~ now. I have only had off heading openings 2 times; 1 was a precision pack (that I must have not been to precise with), and 1 was a flat pack for test reasons. The precision pack did a 180 and came out on its own as I started to deal with it, the flat pack did a 90 to the right and I flew side ways for a second or two but it cleared on its own too. I am not a swooper by definition and only really do 90's to 180's to final. I have landed both canopies in all sorts of wind conditions and agree with Chuck about their landing. Fly one in the size you want and make your own decision. I recently saw a guy on a Rage 140 doing real well with it and landing it fine, but when a "skygod" asked him what it was and he said Rage the SG said to "can that shit and get a PD". There are other canopy makers out there who make just as good a product and just don't have the "name" yet. You make the decision it is your money, but more importantly your body and "Fun factor". Be safe and have fun! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. Honestly any one who is salivating over this development so they can down size to a tiny "Cool" container must be leaving out 1 important issue in their thought process, "can I survive loading a reserve at >1.25 that is landing unconciouse and at ALL DZ altitudes?" 1 PD employee I talked to said the best idea would be to put a larger reserve in the same container. There are exceptions but not to many of us are PRO swoopers nor on that level. But even the PRO swoopers have different rigs for a reason. IMO, best idea is to keep the container they have and put some more reserve footage in the thing. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. Hey all! Digging this one back up so I can get a link to the Vector II Tandem Drogue kill line length. I searched the uptvector.com page and didn't find a service bulletin or the info in my Vector II Tandem Owners Manual. Thank You in advance. Cheers! An Instructors first concern is student safety. 4. The DZ is awesome. They have enough there not to need to go out to party. But if you must it is a little drive to the "finer" establishments. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. No they won't! At least I pray they won't as it would mean they abandoned their charges when they did it! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  6. And right you are. I always leave the ratification part out as I am sure so many others do too. When was the last time a ratification failed? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  7. At first all places except Sadam's home Village. Then bit by bit people started to realize we didn't come in to parcel the country into 3 new countries. Now the angry eyes we saw then are looking down gun barrels today. If we did, (parcel the county out) we may have a bit more peaceful region and have 2 additional countries in the world market. After all they happened to be independent nation-tribes till we (along with the UK and others from Europe) gave them the borders (restrictions) they have now. I hit post before I got to read the Prof. post. He is most likely right to make the analogy. In hind sight I am sure that did happen too. I also think we would do the same here in the US till we got organized. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. Actually, at first we did get welcomed as such (with the exception of Sadam's tribe and family of course). From what I remember while there. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. But the definition of treason and its further definitions discuss war between the nation and either another nation or an armed uprising. So I feel it doesn't fit. Keep the Bong and lines for your self and I will have a little Ben and Jerry's. After all it is protected as a Religion. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  10. The 4 and 5 article give the congress the power to amend the Constitution and in the case of the states self rule if you will. I actually think the 14th amendment would be a better argument if coupled with the 1st. It has been enlightening and fun, as it is our right to debate. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 11. Point Taken. I still don't see a valid point for the war on drugs being treasonous. So those of you who support legalization feel the related crime would "go away" if that happened? legal issues aside, Who would you hire to work for you? Who would you want to mother a child? a drug user or a non-drug user? (so far only Marijuana has a non-dependency relationship with its user, yes? An Instructors first concern is student safety. 12. OK, as far as religion. If it was ONLY for religion I would see your point as valid. But sadly it isn't. A Shamen uses small amounts of peyote, RAW cocoa leaves, etc. Not refined, packaged and sold at huge mark up on the street corner. A Rasta who is practicing would again have my help in a Religious defense, not the one carrying 20 kilos to a dance party. I would think that if the Treason argument would work it would have been tried. Maybe Criminal Defense Attorneys are smarter than us and figured it wouldn't work? And again I do not see it as a war on its citizens. The Constitution allows for these laws, it also allows for us to vote the politicians out and to change the laws. 14. So you too think illegal drugs are a "Victimless" crime? IMO any one who is supporting the use of illegal drugs is not looking close enough to what is happening. Look at the folks who mug, rob and steal to make funds for a "rock". How about the innocents shot and killed when to rival drug "lords" shoot it out with each other. Maybe you have been lucky enough not to see this first hand. I hope so. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. The treason plea doesn't fit. Of course you wont see a court case where treason was the defense, again, it doesn't fit. Victimless crime? Debatable at least, but I would say there are plenty of victims when it comes to the use of illegal drugs. I am glad your reading the Constitution, a dozen times is a good start. In the last year alone I have read it that many times ( it is posted in one of our offices so I see it daily). I also sat in several classes concerning the Constitution and Constitutional Law over the last 20+ years. I really feel your reaching with the treason argument. But best of luck with it. You may be successful and change the Law as it stands now. (reading the link you provided I do not see your interpretations as accurate) An Instructors first concern is student safety. 16. I am in the middle of the current events. I also think that the people of this country are doing very well in voicing their displeasure. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. I did not refer to the Constitution as "nothing", you put the inference there using my reply. The founding fathers also gave the Congress and the President (and US the citizines) a way to add to the Constitution and make laws. These laws have held up in court, and thus it is illegal to use the drugs specified. Even if the drug law is the only being broken, your not a law abiding citizen. Find a better analogy than "white cars" and your argument may have merit. What I take from your stance; You (or some one you know and care about) want to do drugs and not go to jail. To feel better about breaking the LAW you say the "war on drugs" is treason. That is what I have learned from you. "The authors were concerned about the definition of treason. They thought that it was used too broadly to define any dissenting opinions. Their new country would be much stricter about what treason was, and how one would be accused and convicted of it. Treason, then, is defined only as going to war against the USA, or aiding the enemies of the USA. To be convicted, the accused must confess to treason, or be accused by two direct witnesses of the treason. The authors were also concerned that the person convicted of treason be the only one to suffer for the treasonous acts. The Constitution explicitly that there may be no "corruption of blood," or that the children and relatives of the traitor not be considered traitorous simply by relation; the "no forfeiture" clause basically means that once the traitor dies, "payment" for the crime ends." From your link. It is the "War on Drugs", not the USA, to be literal. Additionally did not the Reagon Adminastration, and each one there after, delclare a "Was on drugs", thus making any one who supports the drugs and the drug pushers treasunous? Treason treason n the offense of attempting to overthrow the government of one's country or of assisting its enemies in war Source: NMW An Instructors first concern is student safety. 18. Some how my hearing has gotten better!?! All the engine noise and loud booms have some how just knocked out the wax? I usually wear ear plugs in training (not always though) and never while overseas, so I was suprised and had expected a lot of hearing loss, not improvement. You may need a HUD in your Factory Diver since you won't hear the audible soon! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  19. The lucky reference is about a character here who keeps calling us (Members of the DOD) dumb (paraphrased). OK I am paying attention (and seeing great humor in the "Pay attention to detail" comment). Who gets to determine if the CIC is now an enemy of the Nation? Do you think the country would allow the CIC to be declared an enemy and the Military would still be in his "control"? I know this is all "hypothetical", I just don't see it as plausible. The oath is given to a service member of the nations defense department. If the oath is not given to a citizen then they would not have a conflict with the oath, as they did not receive it. So if your not a member of the DOD your not in conflict with the Oath of Enlistment or Commision. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. Nice twist on the use of the word "nothing". Put the use of the word treason in current context and then get back to me on "HOW". I asked you to show me some thing so I could understand why you feel the "war on drugs" is treason. The "war on drugs" is not against the law abiding Citizens of this country, but on the ones who choose to VIOLATE current National and State LAWS. Laws that the Constitution gave the Congress and States the right to make. Again HOW is the "War" treason? Is it treason because some one thinks it is their "Right" to take drugs? We had the same issue in the USA with Beer and Booze a while back and after a bit of rebelling there was new law. Only this time the rebelling isn't working to change the laws fast enough for some. Additionally more citizens want drugs illegal than legal. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  21. You must be talking to Lucky too. Yes, I have read and understood the thread. Put reality into your Hypothetical world for a second, you'll see most are not willing to be interned to prison, the risk is not worth the reward. The SCOTUS will eventually charge and try the CIC or Congress or who ever (given the Hypothetical scene of course), when a case gets to them. Military cases very rarely get to the SCOTUS, there usually is no standing for them. Most of the cases get broke down to a contract violation (if they are standing up to a hypothetical order). I actually don't see a paradox in the oath, I see over analysis maybe. Your local JAG will help you to stay out of trouble (go to the Defense side of the office), he or she can steer you to actual cases to use for educations sake. They can also tell you how far you can go before you cross that line that has you up against the dreaded "treason" charges. And if your not a member of the DOD it is mute, as there would be no conflict. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  22. HOW? All you offer is one liners, not actual case or a SCOTUS citing. So far I have found lots to support he "War" on drugs but nothing to support your "treason" theory. I have found a few articles (a lot from Denver for some reason) that are of people against the "war" on drugs, but because they want drugs legalized (not all for medical reasons either). So, again, how is it LEGALLY "Treason"? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. And thus far each one who feels he had to "exercise" those responsibilities has been punished and effected the current admin zero percent. It is the Judiciary Branch who has the responsibility to keep Congress and the President in check, but the Judiciary need us the PEOPLE to file a suit to challenge a particular law or action so they can act. Checks and balances, not perfect, but better than mutiny and anarchy. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. "The War on Drugs" is not actual "war" now is it? Is it not just a bad title placed on the actual enforcement of current law? Take away the mis-worded title and is it still treason to you? Or is it just inconveneint? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. Explain how it is "treason"? I do not see it as such. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
