  4. Yep, your going to hell, but at least you'll have company aside from Kanye, well, most of us. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. Well the thread didn't have any thing new to say, just a repeat the last 5 or 6 threads about Torture. Although I think it interesting that the SI was used as a research base given the lack of credible (by todays standards) science back then. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 6. I believe the order was to stand down. Note the military guy was calling it out. 50 miles,30 miles, 10, does the order still stand? If the order had been to take down the plane it would have been downed. If there wasn't a plane in position to intercept there would have been no reason for the question, "does the order still stand?" The order from Vice President Dick Cheney was for the fighters to stand down. IMO Blues, Cliff Well then you need to change your thread to "Finest VP in the world?" for, if the VP issued a stand down order then the military did exactly as told to do. As for Katrina, well that too was a POTUS/VPOTUS and FEMA issue, not the Militarys, they did as ordered when so ordered, and did a very good job at it. Your hatred is clouding your judgement. Fell free to speak your mind, as it is guaranteed by the Consitution and protected by law (and the Military you appear to hate), but think a little "better" before you attack the very people who are protecting you to the best of their ability given the orders they are to follow. If you think they are acting to slow in some cases, then you'll need to vote out those who are questioning thier own ability (to stay in office after a decision) and make decisions to slow and late for the Military to act on. But just giving the Military an end state and getting out of the way will offend too many people, maybe even including me, a guy who at times wished we had that direct and blunt order. Matt Been there, done that and have worn out the t-shirts. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  8. Sounds like the crown loved it and it showed a lot of people an awesome way to arrive at the game! I hope it generates a bit of business for the CO DZ's as well as the rest as a bit if it was aired on CBS. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. None, I have received a form of National Health care for 23 years now. It has its issues, (I've payed into it every year) but over all it is pretty good. The current bill /s need work but may not be bad if we can help the ones who can't help them selves. The ones who refuse help I see no need to help, it is their choice. 10. Or to the student as the T-I sits them in their lap: "You know what the difference between a BMW and a hard on it? (Insert T-I's name here) doesn't have a BMW!" It works with other top end brand name cars as well. Jokes are used well by some and poorly by others. Instructors have to be good enough judges of charactor and timing, to be able to tell what and when jokes will work, not just force them out as the only routine they know every time. 11. http://www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/sites/mcub/library/MCUR/URCH2.htm#UR2003 They are two different uniforms. The "A" Medals, the "B" Ribbons. and they have distinct times for wear and of course the Commander can dictate to wear a higher class uniform if they so choose. The Ball is traditionally the higher class uniforms, it is a pride and tradition issue that is well earned by the Corps and well respected by all of us in the other services. 12. Well the Gunney is going be all over you if you go in any thing other than "A". Hell I am retired Army and I was told I have to wear a tux just to film the Ball! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  13. It has been my experience that a lot of the DZ's do this quietly and have been for many years. CSC is cool, but not not alone. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. Did the larger canoies get grouped in such a way they could spot for them selves or was it a mix of canopies in each group? and the spot was for the whole over the few? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. The nose caps are a great "slower" of the fast openings and Red has said some even take them off after the canopy has "broken in". I left mine on as I seemed to be "breaking in" to liking the softer openings in my ole' age. To the OP; the Style of landing with the Star Traks, Sharpchuters etc takes a bit of practice and getting used to. The series can be made with a Z-P top skin like the Mantas, but as the two designs are different they will perform differently, they are after all different "tools". But the Manta is a good pic for all around use. billvon- for the SF Demo was spotting done for a central target? of for a show line off of the landing areas? 16. CPT Stan makes a lot of good points and any one thinking of starting Demo's should read the list several times. As to the canopies: one must remember they are tools for a job. Each job may require a different tool. If your using the Star Trak series remember there are (or where) 6 of them, different model sizes means different tool options. The classic style canopies like the Star Traks and Classics are sevel cells with large nose openings, not known for high glide ratios but very comfortable in steep braked, down town intersection or foot ball stadium approaches. They open harder than a Sabre 2 and perform differently as well. One also must understand winds in a built up area, spotting and wind lines real well with these parachutes as well. The Sabres/Velos etc etc are canopies better suited to larger venues where the higher glide ratio will be not only "cool" but usable. The "hybreds" Spectre, Pulse etc in the proper wing loading can be used in multiple venues. Again they are different tools. Unless it is a "Swooping Demo" slower is usually not only better, but safer as well. Now to the OP's Question: for Stadiums I have jumped Star Traks in the 265, Star Trak I, and II models for nearly 500 demos. I have done larger fields under a Spectre 170 and 150, for around 30 Demo's. I have also jumped a Precision 400 Tandem Main and Sigma 395 Tandem Main while jumping large Flags. Different tools for the different jobs. The biggest thing is not matter the tool, be current with it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. With who and when? Some of the rest ofyour posts are very provacative, in a trolling up shit sort of way. I agree that the timing was in very poor taste. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  19. I agree. But will we ever see it? I dunno. Marriage is the "Church's" and Civil Unions is the "States", to many have clouded this issue though. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  21. The out burst was in bad form. ABC made a point of not only mentioning the out burst but also that the POTUS called the GOP and some members Liars as well. Some thing they said was not done in the past either, maybe it is a case of ground breaking one up-manship? I am glad I am not a member of either party and do not subscribe to any of the shinanigans. Too bad the two parties are going to screw things up worse than they ever have before over these petty little squables. Both parties are morally corrupt and finacially inept, and as soon as they all admit they are on the same page "in the end state", just on a different path to getting there we will all be much better off. 22. So how would the make up of this organization be done? Is this just a copy of AOPA or USPA and more finite in its membership? And what is your motivation for making this happen? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
