Try auto focus ,and iso 100 ,slower shutter speed of like 200 or 250 you can even go down to 160 on a sunny day like that if you want . I used to have the old metal one shown in diablopilots photo and it does come undone so beware you can very easily loose your helmet with it if it is bumped hard enough or is not latched extremely tight. (VOICE OF EXPERIENCE HERE) I managed to save it though come undone on opening and in free fall before i have since replaced the entire bone and latch with a cutaway system on it now . And it works beautifully, but be sure you have it shimmed properly for it to cut away correctly ? This is crucial! 1st photo is old metal style second one is new bone and cutaway installed ,(notice the configuration of shim material on the bone ) The right side of the bone needs thicker padding or shims under it by the hinge. This is critical to insure proper cutaway ! Practice cutting it away at least a few times a season. I have only made 1 video from my sony hc-1 with it . I have tried some small video lights that didn't work worth a crap in free fall. Rechargeable stuff ,didn't last long enough to finnish 1 video. Maybe this is the ticket i hope. At least your honest about it.. I never had a fire and hope it never happens ! But i have had a few close calls . Now days my hard deck is 3500 feet , i have a xaos in both rigs . I like to get my TM to open a little higher if i can . I'd like to se the free fall video to hear the audio from this mic you used? I personally use a sennheiser wireless mic. But if i could pickup stuff in free fall with something else it would be cool. I had about 300 or so and was scared shitless. Now looking back at it ,i was in situations that were insane. The worst was back sliding and opening with the tandem . Now how stupid is that ! Speed isn't to much of an issue for me because i don't do any editing at the dz ,only on rare occasions. I mail the video's and give them the prints and photo cd's on site. I'm just confused on doing a video on my mac here. I have older version of imovie hd 5.0.2 and i have toast 8.0.3 But i'm not able to see any of the options you mentioned to make this disk ? I have a base jumping project ready to send to disk...
