  1. Okay, I'm homebound due to recovering from some surgery and living vicariously through other people right now. I can’t find any posts about how Kaleidoscope is going? Where’s the info and pics? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  2. I second that. We know. LOL! Yes, sadly we do... "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  3. I’ve been told that from past test with heart rate monitors. That for EXPIERENCED skydivers heart rate goes up in the door down in freefall and up right before pull time. . Based on my personal experiences I’d guess this is right, as I get nervous in the door and relaxed when I hit the air. I understand it is a different dynamic for new jumpers. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  4. Could be as above but I can guarantee that a still new 3 is a little uncomfortable for the first hundred jumps or so. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  5. You must live in Chicago! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  6. In the immortal words of Pete Townsend “Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss.” Neither party has done the country any good for decades. Don’t believe for a second one has any moral high ground over the other. edited morale changed to moral darn spelling cheker... "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  7. Very dark brew, half n half, splenda and then a touch of sugar in the raw. I drink so much coffee in the mornig that the splenda saves me about 200 calories a day but the little bit of real sugar gives it a good tast. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  8. Yep...spot on. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  9. It's a newbie thing, with a little more expierence you will start noticing the cold. Enjoy it now... "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  10. Well, I had a fusion of my C6 and C7 a little over 5 months ago. so, I've done a lot of research on the issue. There are plenty of skydivers that had fusions, I believe Dan BC is one of them. The person's Dr. is the only one that can say for sure she is okay to jump, but typically the layoff for active regular skydivers is 6 to 12 months. If it has been longer than that she may be fine. 11. There, fixed it for you. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  12. I'm glad someone it trying to keep kids away from this stuff! It's about the children! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  13. 18 jumps durring WWII is a lot! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  14. Because you generally wear a full-face helmet and you can't see the guy screaming at you: "hey moron, you took the wrong grip" in his open face helmet. I agree with you there to a degree, but it also really helps that I am able to scream at someone in freefall and get my point across, particularly when I am gripped on them. Anyway, your argument is only partially relevant. What? I can't hear you. Your shades are on! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  15. I won't jump with someone wearing shades. I cant see their eyes which is the primary form a communication in freefall. i do rw but I know free flyers have a different opinion. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  16. What else did the one person who was in the air with you say to do? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  17. Nope prretty common. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  18. I think Tai Chi does more for skydiving than flexibility. It is all about controlling energy which is what skydiving is about, controlling the energy of the air. I think the soft style is better than a hard style too for control of the air too - one can't fight the air and win but one can fineness it and win. Just one man's opinion. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  19. Congratulations! It’s a major accomplishment! Now I’ll give you the same advice I was given, “You now have a license to do whatever you want to do, be smart about it.” "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  20. There fixed it for you. Only need the one for an A license. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  21. Agreed. No one cares what you do outside the DZ or how much money you have. At my DZ we have bikers, bartenders, Dr.'s, lawyers, millionaires and poppers all socializing and jumping together. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  22. It sounds like you "surged" the canopy. This is very dangerous low to the ground. I tell students, when in doubt, hold the flare and PLF, because surging a canopy is very dangerous. I highly recommend talking to your instructors about how and when to flare and what to do if you flare too high. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP

    RW

Yep what everyone said. I do recomend that you spend a little time in the tunnel learning to fly a good Mantis. It's not required for RW but I'm not aware of any top notch RW 4 or 8 way guys that fly a box. Plus it looks cool! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  24. Yep, the way the CD had it set up we were never going to get to pull above 2,500 and he targeted 2,000 for us to pull. Of course pulling below 2,000 was unacceptable. I was routeinly pulling between 2,000 and maybe 2,200 on the high side. Did I mention that pulling at 2,000 sucks! Being forced to pull that low on a regular basis was the biggest challange of the course IMHO. It did teach me some confidence about it, which was the idea. That said 3,000 is a nice normal pull alt! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  25. Did you mean 4,000? Nope. That would have allowed us an almost normal breakoff altitude. Remember the CD wanted us to be pulling at 2,000. At one point he actually told one person in our group that complaned about having to pull at 2,000 that it was just part of the training and to get used to it. Just a side note, when i graduated the course one of the experienced AFFI's pulled me aside and said, "Good you learned that, now let's be very clear on this, in real life we pull for a student no later than 4,000." "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
