  1. You know to each his on, but CanuckINUSA reply seems like old school thinking. Most of the progressive ff don't seem to have the idea that rw people live in fear of "losing another skydiver to ff..." She should work at all of it, but don't buy into the rw vrs ff thing. There no them against us.
  2. You know this will sound terrible, but I like going to big way events so much that I am atually trying to get out of a FREE trip to Amsterdamn (sp) so I can attend TSR. Now that is stupied!
  3. When the 300 way was done, I thought that it would stand for years. Being new to big ways maybe some one could post a time line of new records. Also, does anyone know how many people who were on the current record were ALSO on the 300 way record? Rainy day questions................
  4. You NEED to go. PERIOD. When you get sued, do you want a bunch of people who think $8.00 an hour is good money decideing your fate. Go do you duty
  5. Anybody heard how Kate Cooper is doing with her shoulder? I believe she s/b back in the states now. What a bummer to get hurt like that during the WT effort.
  6. Hey Benny, Hummmm I don't think anyone in your example would pay taxes, and in fact would recieve more money back than they paid in. Still not a lot to live on..... but labor cost is labor cost, the market will find away to the lowest cost if left alone. Yes labor cost more here. Some because of the rules we have, which are needed, But not all. We can make many American products unmarketable (price wise) by MAKING them here, or we can move production to the lower cost labor markets. It's just simple facts. Nope you don't have to like it, yes you can bitch and talk about how unfair it is. But it's not going to go away unless we ditch a LOT MORE than NAFTA. But hey I sure like to skydive

    Taxes

The basis question with taxes is: Do you believe that people that make more money should pay more money? If your answer to this is yes, the next question becomes how much more. I believe that a flat tax rate for all would be the answer but the politicains will never allow it. IF we had a flat rate (say 12%) it would be almost impossible for them to raise our taxes. As it stands nobody can figure out our current tax code. I guess my heart burn with taxes is simple. I own a small business, employee 33 people. It s-e-e-m-s that I fall into that group that is suppose to have it made under the current president. But I just don't feel the love. Tommorow I'm calling a new accountant. I keep hearing from the press and demorats how I'm suppose to be not paying taxes and screwing the "little guy" but somehow my current accountant can't find the legal way to do this. gggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr but I just got my final tax bill of the year!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for the vent but I don't get to go by neat skydiving stuff I get to mail in more. For every dollar I made I had to mail in about .47 back. Yep it burns my butt. but I love to jump!
  8. NOPE, I thought I was but then God told me I wasn't
  9. Arlo just to nice From habit I set my brakes, I unstow my slider but I don't cock the pilot chute. If a packer ask me to when I set it down (that time) I do. The next jump I'll move to another packer or pack myself. Most packers are very nice and helpful but I work during the week to relax on the weekend. I'll pay $5.00 without blinking but at $6.00 the tip goes down a lot.
  10. Hey Brain, Cool picture on the web, wonder why they didn't show our face? Yeah I'm thinking of going straight hybrid since I can't get any of these young pup skygod's to teach me how to stay stable on my head See you this weekend fr
  11. Where on the WT web page will it be posted?
  12. I don't think anyone on the attempt has below 1000 jumps -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "From talking to Kate, that is about the average. There are some people on the jump with less then 1000 jumps. They are from the host country. They where out here training with BJ Worth and Rob Laidlaw during the big way camp in Dec." I believe the average number of jumps is well over 4,000, much, much higher than 1,000
  13. Kallend, The only reason you don't look to be 103 years old is your chasing all these students around. Once that stops, your finished! Are you going to the z-hills thing this year? fr
  14. ""not if my vote has anything to do with it....." " cool, my vote will cancel your vote, but the true odds are lots of people who post pro or con on GW won't vote at all
  15. Jeez, I'm sorry last time I saw you..........well you LOOKED a lot older. Must be all that four way stress
  16. "Javelin 110. I was 24 and had 600 jumps." Surely your not counting a 110 way as "big way", besides ANYBODY can do a four way. The cold hard fact is that for some people big ways are easy to get to the upper levels than four way. Don't get me wrong good four way is MUCH, MUCH harder-they aren't even close. But if you can't get into the four way scene (I can't train two weekends a month but I can plan a trip to do big way) big ways are a fun way to be different. Plus it watching one come together is cool
  17. It's interesting to me the different paths people take to get on the big ways. Since I come from a small dz my only option was to travel. It took me: 1. Tony and Kate big way camp (May of 2001) 2. Pop's at Eloy 3. Pop's at Eloy (again) 4. Texas state record attempt 5. Pop's at Perris 6. Z-hills 2-point record (April 2003) so (if my math is right) it took me +25 months to get my completion in my log book. Assuming that each event to around 5 days thats 30 days off from work and god knows how much money. Funny thing happened along the way, I went from loving big ways to hating them to loving them. At times I was sitting around listening to all the other people talking about there number of +100 completions (and there are a boat load of people out there who have LOT's of them) and it drove me NUT's. Hell I just wanted ONE and then I was never going to do another. To much pressure, way to many ego's, and time away. Then I got more comfortable, realized I wasn't going to stop till I got it and started to really meet the people. I use to get mad when I meet someone who had 300 jumps and had already do a completed 100 way. But after awhile it hit me that the whole thing was about getting to know other people. Long story to say that sometime a longer path to a goal can in the end be better in some ways. sorry to get off topic, the thread just got me thinking.......... Fortson
  18. 1. He/she is a good skydiver 2. He/she jumps with the right people
  19. Hey everyone, Thanks for th e info, Schwede has done his best to answer my questions, sorry to be so far ahead of the information flow. Fortson P.S.- Leave Schwede alone or he'll reject my registration money
  20. Tony, Keep the $5.00 and buy yourself a beer when you get over there. Drop me a note and let me know where you are in the formation. Better yet-save my $5.00 for the 140 ways at z-hills, you can buy me a beer (and act like you know me) and tell me your stories. GOOD LUCK Fortson
  21. Thanks, roughing it is well rough! Besides my tent mate's would throw me out with my snoring. I've heard something about RV's possible for rent. Anyone got any details on that? And yes I have book marked and studied the web page. I'm ahead of what they have out because I've got to put the time in shortly
  22. Hi all, Trying to find out the best places to stay. As I understand the hotels are not within walking distance of the dz. Mainly I don't want to drive after being at the party, and I'm to old to hit the "bunk tent" Buses? I've done a search but haven't been able to find out a lot about the event-other than everybody that's gone "had a blast" If I go I'll be giving up the WFFC and just want some input. Thanks
  23. "The Pig" yuck, yuck............. lol
  24. How would you like to be the guy w/900 jumps. Take a look at the jump numbers of the stand by team. Truth is he'll be fine.
