  1. LOL-never said I could. But............... Pencils have been veeeeeery good to me
  2. My idea of hell is going to work for someone else My employee's idea of hell is coming to work for me I've owned my business since 1988. We have 30 employees. We sale networks, copiers, printers and office supplies. I truely believe that owning your own business is one of the best things you could ever do - even if you close it or sale it later. Good luck, work hard, have fun!
  3. Anyone have an idea of how much after the fairing (sp) cost, an Otter and Pilot would cost for a full weekend?
  4. I K-N-E-W something was up! Everybody hiding from me! That's what I get for coming from a small dz. Man I'm ready to go now! Fortson "Bob" P.S. - I pick the last jump on Friday as the record jump! Come on you chickens pick the jump.
  5. Is anyone staying at the orginal hotel that was suppose to give us the discount rate? (Can't recall the name right now I've got a room there but would like to change to where "most" of the jumpers are staying. See everone on Tuesday. Fortson
  6. nope I can afford more than $5.00, I'm just to cheap to pay more. A good packer can do four pack jobs an hour easy, that's $20 an hour x eight hours $160 x 2 (sat/sun) = $320 a weekend. (and we all know packers that can handle a lot more than four an hour) Not easy money at all put pretty good. Good packers can make some get good tips.
  7. Nope. It SHOULD BE - but it's not. It's finger pointing, both parties do it. The sad fact is that all decisions made in Washington have to have a fall position due to the above. Rather than learn from mistakes made, we learn how to cover up better. What tickles me is that the GWB haters or the Kerry haters seem to believe that "there party" would never do that. Nader for president :-)
  8. Should women get to vote here?
  9. Take more meds, if one comment about you being broke was all the guy said your really reaching.
  10. LOL read more, the economy was tanking when he took office. You just can't blame the economy on ONE president. It would have tanked if Gore had won. You may argue the depth of "tanking" but not the direction. Yep Reagn just drove us in the ground, Bill saved us then ol GWB killed us again. Since I've posted more today than ever let me state for the record. Although I tend to vote Republican my biggest problem is with BOTH parties. KERRY or BUSH neither is offering anything new (yet). All we really have is people screaming "anybody but ________"
  11. Quade-the economy is getting better. Because of your political position (and to a degree mine) you'll see bad news and blame in on GWB, I'll see good news and thank GWB. "Yes, please tell me about companies being less inclined to lay off workers." Full story: The number of people filing new applications for unemployment benefits dropped last week, a sign that companies may be feeling better about the economic recovery's durability and less inclined to lay off workers. The Labor Department (news - web sites) reported Thursday that for the work week ending Feb. 28 new filings for jobless benefits declined by a seasonally adjusted 7,000 to 345,000, the lowest level in two weeks. The decline was a bit steeper than the decrease of 5,000 that some analysts were forecasting. Another report from the department said the productivity of American workers grew at a modest 2.6 percent annual rate in the final three months of 2003, according to revised figures. The new figure, which matched economists' expectations, was slightly slower than the 2.7 percent pace first estimated a month ago. Productivity measures the amount a worker produces for each hour on the job. For all of 2003, productivity grew by a solid 4.4 percent, following a 5 percent increase for 2002. Although the fourth-quarter's performance marked a slowdown from a sizable 9.5 percent growth rate in the previous quarter, it still represented a respectable pace that bodes well for the economic recovery. In other economic news, many big retailers reported February sales above expectations, particularly at clothing stores including Limited Brands, Talbots and J.C. Penney Co. Inc. The strong results followed a robust January performance and signaled to analysts that consumers continue to be feel good about spending. The Commerce Department (news - web sites) reported the orders to U.S. factories dropped by 0.5 percent in January, mostly reflecting weak demand for transportation equipment, especially airplanes. Excluding orders for transportation equipment, however, factory orders rose by a firm 1.4 percent. In the layoffs report, the four-week moving average of claims, which smooths out weekly fluctuations, dipped last week to 352,250, a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week. But even as companies have reduced the speed at which they lay off workers — they haven't been in a rush to hire people back. A Federal Reserve (news - web sites) survey of business conditions around the country in January and February, released Wednesday, said employment was "growing slowly" in most Fed regions. Looking ahead, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan (news - web sites) is optimistic that job growth, which has been poking along, will speed up. "We could get a pop in employment at any time," Greenspan said last week. Slow job growth has been a sore spot for President Bush (news - web sites) and is an election-year issue that Democrats have seized upon as evidence of what they believe to be Bush's poor handling of the economy. The economy has lost 2.2 million workers since Bush took office in January 2001 as the economy fell into a recession, struggled to get back on its feet, and then staged a material rebound in the second half of last year. Economists believe that productivity gains were a factor in the job losses. During a period of economic uncertainty, those productivity gains allowed companies to produce more with fewer people. In economic good times, productivity gains usually don't come at the expense of workers. But Greenspan has said he is hopeful companies may soon need to step up hiring to meet customer demand because they will be running out of ways to squeeze ever-more efficiencies from existing workers. In an encouraging sign on that front, companies in the fourth quarter boosted workers' hours at a 1.5 percent rate, the largest increase since the first quarter of 2000. Companies increased output in the fourth quarter at a 4.1 percent rate. Analysts believe the nation's payrolls grew by a net 135,000 jobs in February, which would be an improvement from the 112,000 jobs added in January but would still mark a fairly lackluster pace. The employment report for February will be released Friday. Economists want to see the economy generate around 200,000 or 300,000 net jobs a month on a consistent basis before they declare a recovery in the fragile labor market. Productivity gains, meanwhile, are important to the economy's long-term vitality. They allow the economy to grow faster without triggering inflation. Companies can pay workers more without raising prices, which would eat up those wage gains. Productivity also can bolster a company's profitability. As profits improve, companies may be more willing to ramp up capital investment and hiring.
  12. "However, if you feel safer it's only a feeling. I don't think you're safer because the organization that planned the attacks of September 11 -- they're still out there." Well there's a lot less of them "out there"
  13. ".....safer" because of GWB and I dont' know a lot of people that think the economy is "stronger". Hey Quade, Just thought I tell you I feel safer and the economy seems better. but you don't know me. OTOH most democrates don't seem to feel that way and since you s-e-e-m to lean that way you might just be hanging a lot of people who feel unsafe and unloved by the economy :-) come hang out with us you'll feel better, make more money, rob from the poor and give to the rich. but hey I sure like skydiving
  14. No kidding we aren't allowed to use the bathroom unless your are staff, can't pack inside either.
  15. Without getting blasted Does anyone have and accurate estimate of how many people was S.H. killing every month before we got there? Not the "I HATE BUSH NO MATTER WHAT", "I LOVE BUSH NO MATTER WHAT" just some r-e-a-l numbers. I don't want to know how many people die by accidental shooting in America, how many people die in home accidents, how many innocent children/women/cammels/died in the war - how many Iraqies where being killed before the invasion. ((I also don't want to know how many people he gased) It would help me with trying to form my own idea's. But hey I sure like skydiving
  16. Well disagreeing with a moderator sounds like a good way to get stoned but........... Bill it seems that your saying that the 23% that voted "not for everything" is not proud of Bush at all. The question as I understood it was "Are you proud of Bush" This answer would seem to be saying "not for all his actions but for some" You CAN eliminate that question and come to the 52/48% answer that you showed but why?(You could drop the ones that aren't proud of Bush and he would look even better ) These people by their answer are "proud" of GWB for some actions, and not for others. They don't fall into the "I hate Bush", "I love Bush" camp. Actually subtracting multiple post, the for and against post are fairly close.
  17. "2. Tenant warned Bush that the uranium story was bogus, but Bush used it anyway." Kallend did he really use the word "bogus"? 60% of the people that have voted so far seem to be somewhat proud of GWB. But the vast number of post seem to just hate the man-or his actions. Kallend, PhillyKev, Billvon all are out in the open (very very open) about how they feel about Bush, but where are the post FOR Bush if most the people who have responded like him? I'm not crazy about Bush but lacking a better motivator than "ANYBODY BUT BUSH" I'll be sticking with him. But hey I sure like to skydive.
  18. "Paint our toes" God if you saw my toes you would run screaming out of the room.....I mean these really nasty looking........oh never mine this is suppose to be about Mary. Mary's hot, her boddy makes me want to....wait this is a public forum. How about Mary's the only dz.com person that has spoken to me WITHOUT kicking sand in my face. (Kaland was going to but he had to think about the social ramifications to his act and what GWB thought on the matter would be that I was able to get away) See you in April Mary and I'll show you what I think of you.
  19. Yeah, maybe a Spectre 150 I have a Diablo 170. I don't believe my body position to have been that bad. Now my packing...........
  20. Just to make all you "oowww I've got a bunch of jumps and only X cut aways..." see the real light. Bob Holler who jumps at my dz's first words-and I mean first-when I walked up were. "And I still don't have one" I believe he is somewhere around 4,500 jumps. So there. As far as my "body position" well it's my body position and when you get my age your allowed to have any body position you can get into. Picking up my repack and heading to Moss Point for the M.G. boogie
  21. Glad to know other people average isn't that good. I really thought I was on a roll. Two of my five resulted in canopy damage, (line over with burns and a canopy "explosion") the other three were line twist resulting in a spinning canopy. One day I'll be average!
  22. Stupied me. In the plane on the way to attitude: "Hey it's been over a thousand jumps since I had a reserve ride" A little history. +1,600 jumps, five reserve rides. One I packed the rest someone else packed. To top it off I had just had the repack done the day before! Line twist, couldn't kick out of it before it had me on my back. Good news is found all my stuff that had landed in the deep dark forrest. Free bag was fourty feet up and a good friend who is in better shape and not a chicken shit like me climb up and got it. So all's well that ends well.
  23. AAAAGGGG. Listen trying selling office supplies against Office Depot, try selling copiers against Danka or Ikon. None of it is easy, but it's doable. Jobs will come and go. IT's the way our econ. works. It won't change so the person who is being effected has to. But hey I sure like to skydive
  24. Hey Billy, I was there for that event but not jumping on it, only had 100 jumps or so. But I "thought" it didn't complete at all, or did it go on Sunday? In any event it was WINDY that day
