  1. So all we are waiting for is for somone who appears stable to overthrow the lunatics. Saving a seat at the table would be a good idea - just don't hold your breath waiting. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  2. And if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  3. That's just way too long. You should just point people to the article, and maybe give a brief summary of your opinion, you know - what's the crux and what do you think. IMO the current situation is unique in that we have a party putting so much of their effort into painting the incumbent as a failure, and so little into actually working to make things better. I do not agree with all of his policies or actions, but he is trying. The Republican party on the other hand appears to embrace the status quo. Since it is obvious our economy is going nowhere fast, it is very safe for them to do nothing, block all meaningful change, blame the sitting Presidental, and wait for their turn. Shameless and disgusting. 4. I agree, and believe we will make it thru this phase of history. From what I've read by people that have lived in both though - the polarization has never been even close to this bad. Unfortunately, our behavior as a society appears to have all the characteristics of addiction - and it's hard to say how far it is yet to the bottom (before we snap out of it and start the recovery). 5. No. I'd be too afraid of what what they might try to do. Leader is the thing that worries me. To be a religious leader appears to require adhering to pretty hard line religiously driven policy. If we could be assured their religion would be limited to their personal life; and their leading of the country driven by secular policy - that'd be cool. But I think it is unrealistic to expect someone that has risen to the upper level leadership ranks of any religion would leave their religion at the door when working on matters of state. Reagan and Bush already gave us a little taste of what leaders who believe in invisible friends might be like (and they were not even in leadership positions in their religion). Robertson and his type would be way over the top. Textbook stickers propogating ignorance in science would look mild compared to what someone like that might do. 6. Iran reaching out to the west? Are you kidding? With what? Another press conference or news release that reads like something a 4th grader would write about somebody they didn't like. Everybody on the world stage plays dirty; there is no integrity at that level. But at least our diatribe isn't some childlike narrative sprinkled with phrases like capitalist viper, running rabid dogs (why are the dogs always running?), and colonialist pigs. First thing Iran needs to do if they ever expect to have an olive branch taken seriously is stop making and issuing statements that read like they are part of children's fairy tales. Search hard enough and you'll probably find one that mentions the Big Bad Wolf. 7. 1 - Depends on the winds. Slow enough to allow reasonably comfortable climb-out, fast enough so plane does not stall. Pilot should call out speed over the ground so jumpers can provide proper separation between exiting groups. 2 - Last person out closes the door. Kidding on number two - do not attempt to close the door if you are last out. But seriously, chat with pilot/DZO/instructors where you are being trained. 8. Generally speaking, I don't call them anything I wouldn't call them to their face. I think the answer is right there in the middle of your question: tandem passenger. That being said, I'll admit to using other terms in discussing my experiences with some of the more difficult passengers. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  9. It is the standard behavior of any given group. Depending on the behavior being investigated, the definition of the given group, and the granularity of the observations - there may not be a norm. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  10. In God we trust; all others bring data. From some Demming follower or another. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  11. No one is correct. Noone is one of those compound words that has recently become acceptable only because those who do not know better keep using it. It's part of the general dumbing down of the language that incorrect grammar, used often enough, eventually becomes the norm. I expect y'all will eventually get a dictionary entry, as well as orientate; and soon processes will be officially pronounced prO-ses-sEz. I think people especially like the incorrect pronunciation because it has a bit of a fake foreign sound; which they imagine makes them sound sophisticated and cultured. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  12. Promise? If it happens were are all fucked anyway, so it will not make any difference Silly people. With our current system in place (financial elite running a corporatocracy w/politicians in pocket), you are fucked regardless of who is in office. How many more decades of this shit will it take for people to get it? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  13. I suppose Coptics and Rastafarians are just right out. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  14. That post reads like a hyperbolic sound bite - gets people's attention, fires some people up, feeds the fires of hate. Easy to do that with unsubstantiated claims, peppered with outright BS. I've no doubt some of it varies by state, but by painting a worst-case, hypothetical, broad-brush scenario that isn't true anywhere your credibility goes down the drain and you come off as just another whiner. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  15. Maybe so, but I can't tell. Like every generation, they have a language all their own. I still haven't figured out what it means when my daughters use "meh." They probably prefer it that way. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  16. Amusing, but the overall message is loud and clear. Prerequisite for becoming a believer in atheism, self-righteousness, consuming anger, depressed disillusioned view of reality devoid of hope. An unshakable belief that hedonism is the answer. Total ignorance of Gods Word as it pertains to our daily existence, or to anything for that matter. WOW, sign me up. ... I thought the loud and clear message was that everyone having the same make believe invisible, all-knowing, all-powerful, omnipotent friend is absolutely absurd - plus a few bits of fun twisted logic thrown in for good humor. But I could see how people that really believe in all-knowing, all-powerful, omnipotent, invisible beings might be offended and have your take. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  17. Strange that people give themselves up to some make believe power, which somehow empowers them to kick an addiction, proving they had the ability to do so all along. I guess if it works, cool; but shows how unaware those people are of the power of the self; even after they've put it to work. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  18. For a good chunk of the population, a pile of dung meets the criteria. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  19. I have no proof that there is no God; that is an impossible thing to prove. The burden is on the believer to prove something exists, and after roughly 4000 years there is no evidence. Our growing body of knowledge has reduced the God Of The Gaps (which is really all that is left) to a very small niche. I accept that if there is a God, the only role He might have played was calling the Universe into existence and setting it in motion. The only gap available for faith is that God may have got the ball rolling in the very first tiniest fraction of time. After that, it's just matter obeying the laws of physics, and humans trying to assign meaning to everything. So basically, since we can never unravel the events of the Universe's birth; that is the only matter open to interpretation based on faith alone. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  20. Yep. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. I am often surprised when I see kids behaving badly - regardless of the scale of the bad behavior. Then I meet the parents and almost always the surprise goes away. I've coached kids that were so clingy and so in need of positive guidance that it truly made me sad to leave practice. Had an awkward moment when one of them wanted to go home with me and did not want to get in the parent's car; and I am a pretty demanding coach - not some pushover pussycat. Not saying I'm great or tooting my horn - but some of my player's parents have been that bad. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  21. If he would have labeled everyone Neo-Cons or Nazis, I'd say Lucky. The terminology used says even money that it is Dreamdancer. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  22. Ah, a telltale sign - - claiming full knowledge. The result of people who think they know the one truth, have full knowledge, etc., . . . are things like Auschwitz, genocide, dogma . . . Let me guess; you are early 20's, just took your first PoliSci class, and are aghast at learning the failings of Capitalism, free markets, Democracy, etc. Wait til you get to the chapter on Communism. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  23. Only problem is Communist states also only provide 1 candidate. What the hell is the purpose of voting when there is no choice? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  24. Yes, but it's not Fascism. Go back to Econ 101 and remedial PoliSci. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  25. Nope, try again son. fas·cism noun Definition of FASCISM 1 a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition Thanks for that. As soon as I saw the OP's definition of Fascism it became obvious we have an emotional youngster that has not studied the topic. To the OP, what you defined is more along the lines of a corporatocracy, which yes, we are living in. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
