  1. Larry Hoskins at the Ranch always finds time to jump with the new RW guys. He is so passionate about RW and a born teacher. He is dead serious every minute of the dive. From dirt diving until we're back in the packing area. Then it is time to go over the jump, have a few laughs and pack up again. The amazing time is EVERYTIME I have ever introduced him to a low timer who wants to learn RW, he either jumps with them or find someone who would be suited to jump with them. He always has some thing positive to give to the newer jumpers. It is people like him who give to the sport anonymously over and over. I am a better person for meeting him. 2. I'm surprised that this is still alive. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  3. Brian gives away more info than you can imagine. He was at our safety day last year and he hung around and talked to everyone about canopies, skydiving and whatever else you wanted to ask about. Anything you wanted to know about, he took the time to explain until you understood it. I think the key is to look at the intent of the post. It is to share knowledge. We need more people like him. 4. Yup, when it comes out, I will buy the HD TiVo. There are too many good features on TiVo to pass it up. Plus once you own it, you are done (if you buy the lifetime service). The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  5. HMMM, I just ran into an possible show stopper fot TiVo. No HD TiVo for cable yet. I should be out in a few months. So it looks like for the short term, I'm going to get the Time Warner hd DVR for now. Then when HD TiVo comes out, I'll buy that. 6. HEHEHEHEHEHE I had some fun with capacitors in the past. Nothing like a little ZAP!!! between friends. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  7. 6 jump tickets. Consumer reports #1 rated counter top model. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=APPL&pid=02063252000&subcat=Countertop+Microwaves Kenmore (Sears) 6325[2] Can't go wrong. Why spend $50 to fix the old one when you can have new for $110. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  8. I am considering the 80-hour Humax DVD recorder with TiVo® for $150 plus the lifetime service. I figure that in 2 years the life time service will essentially pay for itself. Any exoerience with recording DVDs? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  9. Any advice? I am making the move into current TV technology and I am trying to decide what type of DVR to buy. The cable company's DVR, Tivo or another brand. Any advice would be welcome. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

    NYC

As it gets closer, PM me. There are thousands of things to do. The standard tourist thing are always there. Then there are all kinds of thing that change on a weekly basis. Depending on work, maybe I can take you out for a beer. Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  11. What is your budget? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  12. I sent out some packages earlier this year. Here is a link to the thread about it. There were some good suggestions on what to send. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1757986;#1757986 Also if you want to share one of those young men, I'll take one. (that sounded really strange.). I'd be happy to make a care package to send to them. Or if you have another name, PM me and I will make a care package. I'm actually getting pretty good at it. Thanks for serving our country and helping the young people who are serving for us now!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  13. Your favorite holiday should be your birthday, so wear your birthday suit. You must know Bubbles!!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

  15. The greatest thing I learned from my parents was that I was responsible for anything that I did. They reinforced that by making me suffer through my mistakes and enjoy the spotlight in my triumphs. I was taught to accept the results of my actions. I quickly learned that stupid actions usually had a negative impact on my life. When we make bad decisions or unfortunate circumstance magnifies a small error we make, we cannot expect others to bail us out. Stand up and deal with it. I am tired of excuses and pleas for a handout. I hear it in all areas of life. "I couldn't come to work because of the transit strike." Don't cry when the guy that get the promotion is the one who got up 2 hours early to get to work. "Why should I have no teeth when there are people who can help?" It's called a payment plan. "I only had 6 beers, and it's only a fender bender." It could have been a dead family of four not the fender of a Buick. Stop whining and take responsibility for what you do. And yes, someone else is getting that promotion. Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

    I am SO Redneck!

You're not a redneck unless you go noodling. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  17. Chris, There really isn't much to say. I am sorry that you got hurt again. The fact is, you have to go through it again. I know it must seem scary. I know that it seems like it is never ending; but, you know that it WILL get better. Rehab and recovery are tough. Lots of us have been through it. The key is that you have a choice in this. You can choose to NEVER give up and work through rehab and recovery or you can lay back and give up. We've talked a few times. I know you are not a quitter. This is going to be tough; but, you already know what most of it is like. You know the doctotrs and the rest of the rehab people. You will get past it. There will always be setbacks in life. That is just the way it goes. Don't be afraid to ask for help. You friends will be happy to give it to you. reach out and get the support you need (physical and emotional). It's ok to be afraid about the future, just don't let fear stop you from your goals. Plus you have to get better, you owe me a few beers and I wanted to make you the designated driver. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  18. Thanks everyone. You have to be careful trying unknown foreign phrases with the big shots.
  19. "so desu ka" that could be it. what does it mean??? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  20. Help please. What does "so densa" mean in Japanese? I am being encouraged to use the phrase "so densa" during my confrence calls with Tokyo. Does anyone know the meaning? Thanks, Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  21. When I first started to jump, I would hold my breath for the first part of the freefall. My instructor told me to use cues to help get me to breath more. During each move requirded by the jump, he had me breath i.e. Heading, breath, Altimiter, breath, etc, etc. This did two things, it gave me a cue to take a breath and slowed things down. It's all new to you. This will become second nature after a while. Have fun and be safe. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  22. My hours change everyday. At least 2 day a week, I start at 7:00am (tokyo confrence call.) If it is earlier, I call in from home. Rarely do I get out before 5:00pm. Mostly I get out about 6:00. Actually not such bad hours for the finance industry. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  23. Don't make me jealous. I've been on the ground since Sept. At least the bad things that kept me from jumping are done and all is right in the world again. Looking forward to celebrating every holiday and being at every party in Dec and recovering in Jan. Then back in the air Feb or March.
  24. anyone? For 100 jump tickets, I would rather give it to a skydiver. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
