  1. [reply That was exactly my problem and it revealed itself most poignantly in the tunnel. . .Evelyn, give it a try if it is at all feasable. Thanks Darcy. It helps to hear that someone had the same problem and over came it. I'm definately going to do tunnel time! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. Thanks for all yor enouragement Rosa. You're right, I was stressing again. When a jump doesn't go as planned I get stressed out and the rest of the jumps go to hell. But I'm going to continue to practice my body position on the floor and visualize doing it right and next week at MJ's camp I am going to blow him away with my improvement . And yes, I am definately going to do some more tunnel time. I would love to borrow your book. Thanks! BTW, although I'm having this problem with my body position I nailed the exit everytime!
  3. I think this thread has gotten blown out of proportion. I guess I posted it mainly to vent my frustration with an unfair situation that I can't do anything about. And I don't intend to do anything about it, just live with it and hope for the best. The only time I would do something about it would be if we were running less jobs from our site and only needed one project assistant and he kept her and sent me to another site (I work only a mile from my house so am pretty spoiled), but I don't think he would do that. For the most part I love my job and the people I work with so I can deal with a little inconvenience. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  4. We were doing something like that last week at RW camp. I'm going to continue to practice that and I'll also try the other things you suggested. Thanks! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  5. I've done several coached tunnel sessions, but haven't been in the tunnel for awhile. I definately need to get back in soon. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  6. Hey Laurel. I can't believe we were on that cruise ship and never found each other (but it was pretty big). Did you happen to notice the same person jogging every morning? That would be me. Sorry we didn't meet up then, but hope to see you sometime at a skydiving event. Blue Skies! Evelyn Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  7. I have pretty vivid dreams every night, especially if I am thinking about something as I go to sleep. Last night I dreamed that I was in freefall and went to look at my altimeter but it was gone, or maybe I never had it, so was trying to judge distance without an altimeter and didn't want to pull too high but didn't want to pull too low. Was getting lower and lower while trying to judge distance and ended up pulling at like 1ooo. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  8. Thanks for the info. That is exactly my plan, to be a lot smarter. I've been with the co. five years and she's been there a month. I know a lot more people and have a lot more resources. If things get tough on the home front I know exactly where to go ( as a last resort, but at least an option.) Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. We really don't have office parties, but if I borrow my daughters camera phone I may be able to get photos. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  10. Yeah, I see all the cat killer stuff and it's pretty funny - I laugh. But I have a serious cat question. Has anyone else ever had a cat that had cat lukemia and cat aids. Our cat has both, and has had for the last several years. He is okay most of the time but if he gets a wound or a fever we have to get him to the vet right away. Just wondering if anyone else had had this with their cats and how long they lived with it. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  11. Oh yeah, I am documenting everything. As far as keeping my mouth shut, I am doing that but a co-worker isn't and some things have already gotten back back to corporate. Will be interesting to see what happens. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. Sometimes I suck, sometimes I don't. Lately I do. I have this problem with dropping my knees. I would think I'd have gotten it by now, and sometimes I'm fine but other times I totally forget, expecially if I'm concentrating on manuevers and not on body position, but body position should be second nature by now, but not for me. Like I said , sometimes I suck. Any suggestions? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  13. He could never have gotten away with it if we were at the corporate offfice, but since we are a jobsite office he pretty much has free reign. She's nice enough, but what pisses me off is the special treatment she gets from sleeping with the boss. Examples: I work my 40 hour week and then some, never asked for overtime, was never offered. But it works out because if I occasionally come in late or leave early I'm not docked. My bosses girlfriend gets paid overtime for the time she spends waiting for him to leave (they usually drive together). Another example: She took off like 6 days the first month she worked, the rest of us were forced to put in extra hours. Another example: We have 1/2 hour lunch but she and the boss go out together for long lunches. Another example: She's making her own hours. Since she doesn't want to fight traffic she is going to come in early and leave early, okayed it with the boss. So I'm left with no assistant the last hour of the day when it gets busy. I can't really say anything, but am just going to sit back and see what happens. I think either the relationship won't work out (he is on the rebound from a 4 year relationship) or she will get tired of the commute. So for now I'm keeping my mouth shut. 14. Oooh no. Don't get me started on GPS systems. We had one years ago when they first came out and it got me more lost than usual. It would tell me to get off at a certain offramp and then change it's mind and tell me to get off at the next one after I'd already exited. Maybe they've improved it. 15. Sounds good. I will definately look into it. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. She is adorable!!! Puppies are so cute. My daughter and her boyfriend just got 2 boxer puppies (8 & 10 weeks old) and she brought them by my work yesterday for me to see, so cute. She's finding out though that parenthood is a lot of work. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  17. I REALLY hate getting lost when driving, but being one of those unfortunate people who was born with no "sense of dirrection" gene I have spent many hours trying to find my way to or from new places. Today I was going some place I'd been a few times before but was taking a different route because was going from a different location. Fortunately I have discovered Map Quest so was okay getting there. Was even feeling really proud of myself for not getting lost. Knew my way home but was going straight to the gym which is in the same area I started from so figured I'd just go back the way I came. WRONG. I somehow missed the onramp and drove for a while before realizing I was lost. Then did what I always do when I'm lost, called my husband. He was in the middle of a golf tournament, but since we've been through this before he knew he had to help me find my way home. He said "so where are you?" I said "I don't know, that's why I'm lost". He said "well I have to know where you are now to help you get home". So I tell him what street I'm on and he says "what direction are you going?" I say "I don't know", He says "are the mountains in front of you or behind you" I tell him "I don't know where the f@#$ing mountains are, but wait, I can see the Hollywood sign." He says "the Hollywood sign is on the mountains". I say "yeah, okay so what do I do now". Etc., etc. After much frustration, tears and vowing never to venture outside of a mile from my house again I finally find my way home. It's NOT fair! Why do some people have a great sense of direction while others totally suck? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  18. I used to go to bed by 10 because I have to get up at 6 and need my 8 hrs. sleep, but I would wake up several times during the night and couldn't always go back to sleep right away. Now that I am totally addicted to posting on DZ.com I go to bed at like midnight and sleep like a rock. No more insomnia. And I'm probably netting the same amount of sleep. Just wanted to share this possibly useful (possibly useless) piece of information. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  19. I've only got 150 jumps and am still trying to get my basic skills up to speed, but I really want to learn to freefly and although I was going to wait until I had basic RW stuff down someone told me I should start learing the basic freefly stuff now so I could practice it in between RW jumps. Sounds good to me since I sometimes do solos if I can't find someone to jump with then I could practice freefly stuff. So I've heard the sit fly is the first position to learn. What's the best way to learn - in the tunnel or just go up and do some jumps with a freefly coach. I'm fortunate to jump at a DZ where I have access to both. 20. Unfortunately I can't be low key because I have a spouse who is so proud of my skydiving that he often introduces me to new friends as "this is my wife Evelyn, she jumps out of planes". Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  21. Although I haven't been in the sport very long, that is my observation, that most of the people who skydive are just regular people who have found something they love to do. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  22. I guess I'm just not used to dealing with stereotypes. If I was I would think that the older country club set would be the least interested in skydiving, yet all of our friends at our country club are very interested in and supportive of my skydiving. Every week they ask me about my skydiving and want to know all the details. They are so intrigued by my skydiving that they have gotten a group together to go do tandem jumps next month. I'm so excited for them, and of course I will be on the plane with them. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  23. Has anyone ever said to you when they found out you are a skydiver "I would never have guessed that YOU were a skydiver". WTF is that supposed to mean? What kind of preconceived notions do people have of skydivers? This was said to me by a whuffo aquaintance who I barely know. Since she doesn't know me I'm assuming she thought I don't look like a skydiver. ????? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  24. That is sooo cool! I'm totally impressed!! Maybe I'll try one someday...or maybe not - seems like it could be kind of scarey. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  25. Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to do. I think I've got it! Yay!! Thanks so much for the help! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
