  1. My only fear with gear is my own pack jobs. I am perfectly comfortable with having someone else pack for me but little confidence in my own pack jobs. So I just pay a packer and don't worry about it. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. What's a vagina??? God, I used to know, but guess I've forgotten. LOL. Seriously, I'm 50 so don't use it like I used to. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  3. Since I didn't make my first jump until I was 50 I love to hear about "older" jumpers getting into the sport. It's true, skydiving does keep you young. I feel much younger now than I did before I started skydiving, think my whole perspective on life changed with skydiving. Good luck! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  4. I've had my Bev suit for almost 150 jumps and it still looks brand new, no seams coming apart or anything. It looks just like the day I got it. And I wash it every week even though someone told me it would last longer if I didn't wash it too much, but I like to start out clean. So just wondering can you get hundreds of jumps out of a jump suit, or maybe thousands. When do they start to fall apart. I'm in no hurry to get a new one, love mine. Just wanted to know when I should expect to need to get another. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  5. Evelyn, How much does tunnel time cost? ROTFLMAO!!! My husband wants to come out to the DZ sometime to do the tunnel time I bought him for his birthday. Don't say anything!! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  6. I couldn't agree more, except for the part of not needing a life outside of skydiving, if you have a job and a family then you have a life outside of skydiving that you have to deal with. But it sounded like Par was blowing off work and his family to skydive and you just can't do that. If you have a job and a family you have to keep that in perspective. When I first started skydiving all I wanted to do was skydive and when my husband would want to do something during the weekend and I would say no can do I'm skydiving he started to resent my skydiving, but once I learned I could do things with him and still get in my skydiving he stopped resenting my skydiving and life was a lot more peaceful. 7. Does your company do employee reviews? My company does them twice a year. We fill out an evaluation and our supervisor does the same and then we sit down and discuss it. I've always gotten really good reviews, but got one negative point on my latest review. My boss said to me "I think you should try to cut down on your swearing." He said "I've seen the way the guys cringe when you start to swear." (I didn't tell him that's only because they're waiting to see in what direction I'm going to throw something".) I work for a general contractor and I am at a jobsite office with a bunch of guys. I am not a girly girl, I'm more like one of the guys. The boss is kind of a prude and is not around very often. Anyway, just wondering if other companies do these kind of reviews and what kind of comments you've gotten. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  8. Hey, it looks like a jump plane to me. Put me down for a slot. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. Dude, you've gotta put things in perspective. I think most skydivers think about skydiving all the time, but you can't let skydiving interfere with your normal life. Most of us have a life outside of skydiving and we have to live our normal lives and enjoy skydiving when we can. I have a weekday job and can only skydive on weekends. So I look forward to skydiving all week long, but only do it on weekends. I think if you just put things in the proper perspective you'll be okay. 10. I don't know him except for in the posts, so can't really pass judgement. But he does make me laugh! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  11. Yeah, my cousin did a research thing and traced our ancestors to the Mayflower, which I thought was kind of neat until someone told me that they brought a lot of convicts over on the Mayflower. LOL. Oh, in response to the original question, yes and no. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. Is that all?? LOL. I was afraid I'd have to give him my firstborn child or something. Naw, I'm sure he'd rather have the beer. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  13. I'm not great with computer skills. Despite perfect step by step instructions from LuvToFly (thanks Tom), I didn't have the right software to resize photos so had to wait until I got photoshop installed. Finally did it and just wanted to show it off. I chose my new personalized license plate cuz I just got it and it's skydiving related. Actually it's sort of got a double meaning. I do love to fly my body in the sky but I also love to fly down the highway in my Vette. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  14. I want a picture of my rig in production. What do I have to do to persuade Kelly to take one for me? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  15. LOL. A measly little stab in the eye is nothing compared to what I'd like to do to some of those rude cell phone users! Over the weekend I was at the theater and prior to the play starting there was a sound of a ringing cell phone. People were looking to see if their phones were turned off, but the ringing continued. Everyone was looking at everyone else and trying to figure out who the culprit was. Finally one of the actors comes into the audience, looks in a woman's purse and pulls out a cell phone. He then takes if with him to a corner of the stage, stomps on it and smashes it, then hands it back to the lady. Everyone in the audience was clapping and cheering. It was obviously staged, but it got the point across without the usual "please turn off your cellphone" request. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. I just ordered a new rig and went with the Smart reserve. Had heard good things about both the Smart and PD, but the Smart reserve was a couple hundred less than the PD. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  17. I swear by Sudafed. On the days I jump I start taking Sudafed as soon as I get up and take it every 4 hours throughout the day. I do this every time I jump and I never have a problem. Before another skydiver told me about Sudafed my ears would be totally plugged by the end of the day and I'd end up with sinus infections. I jump every weekend and no problems as long as I take the Sudafed. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  18. I started with RW just cuz that is what was most available. Once I get good at RW I definately want to get into FF. Actually accordingly to my FF friends I should start practicing my sit fly in between RW jumps so that is what I'm going to do. I think you just have to do what you feel most comfortable with. 19. Hate to be a party pooper, but sodas, pop, whatever you call it is really bad for you. You should drink lots of water. Sorry, but I'm just really concerned about peoples health. Sodas are bad, water is good! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  20. Since I'm an old married lady it might be kind of fun to be popular with the boys! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  21. Yeah, seriously, my initials are EFS - Evelyn Frances Sullivan. I'm going to order my new rig soon and was thinking I'd have my initials embroidered on the chest strap. Do you think people will get the wrong idea and not realize it's my initials but think it means "eat, fuck, skydive". Guess a double meaning would be okay, keep people guessing. I have EV(heart symbol)2FLY as a personalized license plate on my Vette, which could be interperted as I like to fly in the sky or fly down the highway (love to do both). 22. Evelyn, You should definitely go to the camp and not worry about yours or any one else's skill level. You are all students of the art of RW there, and as such, each one will have a weakness and strength - But perhaps most of all, if you don't attend you may be denying someone with a little more experience than you the chance to be a helping hand. Most people (excepting too busy skygods) love the opportunity to share with another jumper what they have learned - and will jump at the chance of taking someone else under their wing (okay, bad pun) If you have the money, and the time, I think you should go - I'm really hopeing to go. Just want to talk to Dan BC first. Yeah, I know what you mean about taking someone under your wing. I actually got to act as a coach at a RW camp I attended last weekend and it was really cool, helping out a fellow jumper with a new license. Funny though, I wore my 13 lbs. of lead cuz I didn't think anyone fell slower then me, but he did. He was above me and I was givng him signals to arch and trying to dearch myself which is something I'm so not used to doing. But it was still a good jump. 23. If you are always waiting till you have the experience, you will never get the experience. Good point, BUT it's one thing to get experience jumping with friends or jumps put together by the LO, and quite another thing getting experience jumping with people who have paid money for a camp. I don't think it would be fair to the others if I was way below their skill level. Sure, I'd benefit, but they wouldn't. That's why I'm so concerned about the skill level/experience issue. So I'm going to wait until I talk to Dan this weekend before committing. If he says, go for it, there will be others with my skill level then I will definately go for it!! 24. I did my water training at Perris and I didn't need to rent gear for the water training. The instructor just threw a canopy over the pool and gave me a rig to put on and I just had to jump in the pool and swim under the canopy and then swim back under it, get out of the rig and hand it to him.
