  1. It seems club DZ's are few and far between. At mine, the dues just went up to $87.50. You get a buck-a-jump, and a vote to re-elect the bod members. There used to be a couple college clubs that jumped here, but they haven't been active in several years.
  2. what does your club charge for annual dues, and what do you get for being a member? Just looking to compare the local club with others. (U.S. only please)
  3. Has anyone ever added back vents to a suit built without them? Is a modification such as this practical? (I currently fly an S-3)
  4. I did nothing to my rig, and pack the same as I always have. Sometimes I even jump without the wingsuit.
  5. Carry-on. Bring a copy of the TSA regs for parachutes. Find it at tsa.gov. I had to show my copy to the "professional" security guy last trip.
  6. Ya, gimme some incentive! like free beer? And no cheap stuff either! I hear PSC could use some good pr.
  7. Moab is not such a good place for balloon jumps. You never know where you're going to end up in a balloon. There's lots of rugged and very remote terrain around there. Also, there are 2 national parks nearby. The penalty for "illegal aerial delivery" is pretty harsh.
  8. You've got bad timing, bro. We're all going to WV that week.
  9. Skydive New England may just be the most fun DZ on the planet! If you've never been to their tiki bar/ labor day boogie, you need to add it to your "to do before I die" list. FLOCK ON!
  10. CASA BOOGIE @ Jumptown next weekend (july 14-16) Lurch will be here offering a first flight course. There will be well known L/O's for all disiplines, and me & Lurch leading the wingsuiters. Brand new facilities, food, beer, casa & otter, what more could you want? [url]http://www.jumptown.com
  11. How about this : we enforce the laws that are already on the books! An immigration "reform" bill was passed 20 years ago. Re-elect NO-ONE
  12. Any New England area wingsuiters out there want to play? Maybe gather at a different DZ every couple weeks? Jumptown's grand re-opening May 20th would be a good place to start. There are as many as 8 suits here most weekends, but the other 7 mostly stay on the ground. Also, anyone interested in learning to fly, I can probably hook ya up with one of those afor mentioned unused suits. (mostly gti) Reply to : [email protected]
  13. Do you mean the "great white north boogie" in lake wales? If so... it's organized by New England jumpers, for New England jumpers, rather than the drop zone. I'm sure you'd be welcome anyway. I went last year, and had a blast. Was a nice break from the cold and snow.
  14. I was out there 3 weeks ago. Didn't go to the DZ, but I did go visit Clint.(DZO, S.D. moab) He said he was about to shut down for the winter. Was told that most of the tour operators close for the season about now also.
  15. Thanks for coming to my little party, guys. We'll have to try that "big way" again at the casa boogie at your home DZ, Lurch. I was a bit dissapointed by the lack of interest in the loaner suits I had available. Only 2 people made their first flights, both of which went very well. I had to say no to 2 others who had less than 200 jumps. Lurch, if you came to Jumptown more often, you'd know to obey the speed limit on route 2 !
  16. I will also be organizing wingsuit jumps out of the casa. High speed pass anyone? I should also have access to a few suits for rent. Come out and play.
  17. I added a little shrivel flap on my skydive bridle for use with the pc pouch on my S3. So far it's had no affect on non wingsuit jumps. Can I expect the same results on my BASE rig, or is it advisable/ necessary to get a second bridle for wingsuit BASE?
  18. You and your boyfriend can go to a lawyer and draw up any agreement you want. You can publicly declare your love for each other, and have any kind of ceremony you want. You can even move in next door, I dont care. But you can't be married because that's not what marraige is.
  19. There is no such thing as "gay rights". No one is being denied anything that others are granted. Gay people can get married, to someone of the opposite gennder, just like anyone else. The reason a male cannot marry another male, is the same reason that a pig cannot fly.
  20. You say it's not a rule, but if its in writing, in an official publication, many, if not most DZO's will treat it as law. This is the type of thing that should be left to the discretion of the DZ and "parachutist-in-comand" I'm still doin' flybys and not wearing a helmet or aad either!
  21. Don't you (uspa bod) have anything better to do than making up more unnecessary rules?
  22. I prefer to drive from SLC. I'm going to rent a car anyway, so it's less expensive. And unless you get a very short layover, flying wont save you much time, and I like the scenic, no trafic ride. In fact, last time, I went the long way, south of the lake and thru Nevada. Stopped in Wendover and won $50 at the blackjack table!
  23. Nick, you inspired me to launch myself off of a new (to me) exit point today. Thanks.
  24. I wouldn't dare climb the one with all the stuff on it. you can hear the electricity humming when you get close. Just wondering if the two sites might be connected somehow. And why would the building with the A/C be active, if the towers aren't?
  25. There's no ladder. These A's are only about 2 feet wide. I just grab on and monkey my way up the structure.
