  10. I talked to them and specifically asked about skydiving. They told me it is covered What they told you and what the policy states may be 2 different things. The only thing that matters is the verbage of the policy. I'd be checking it. I'm positive the company's actuaries have a very different view of scuba vs. skydiving. The only question I would have is, is skydiving SPECIFICALLY excluded as a cause of death. It gets even more interesting than that. If skydiving is listed as an exclusion and they can prove you were jumping they might be able to deny payment on the death claim on the grounds that you willfully violated the terms. Of course, they would refund all of your premiums but they'd rather do that than pay the claim. Bottom line is that if you want life insurance and you want to include the possibility of going in as a cause of death you will pay a higher premium. And it's not as simple as not telling them about it. Same goes for any clause. If you're a smoker and you fail to disclose that it is conceivable they could try to deny the claim. I'm sure underwriting departments love that I send them skydivers and other oddballs). Hehe...licensed in Ohio and my company won't even consider it...for life or health. 16. unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it. Amendment V No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. Amendment VI In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense. 17. One plausible reason for waiting so long to charge him is the possibility that taking him, or any of these people to trial would require revealing souce information and blowing a valuable intelligence asset. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  18. Just got back from a Western Carribean...my beer cruise. Lots of good things and some things I didn't like. Enjoy the shore excursions. Put some Jimmy Buffett on your iPod. Pay no attention to the fat and the old. Don't let anyone talk you into seeing one of those cheesy shows in the theatre. Drink alot. At $7.50 each you'll enjoy it more. Relax and go with it. Enter the gambling tournaments....they're cheap and fun. Take movies. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  19. We did that type of thing prior to 9/11. Hell, we didn't even have the intelligence ops in place to let us know guys like Padilla were here or coming here. I for one am not ready to just let him wander around free to do his deeds. I still say you have to grab guys like that and detain them for however long it takes. Please don't dent the planet. 20. It's pointless to propose solutions to someone who denies there's a problem. The point of "bitching about the problem" (as you put it) is to convince you there IS a problem. However you seem to approve of a government that comes up with new categories of people and their treatment outside of the rule of law when circumstances are apparently urgent. So no amount of bitching that the US government is making all sorts of ad hoc exceptions to its own laws will bother you. You like it that way. Humor me. What's your proposed solution? 22. As I thought..nothing about how to do it differently. Where are all you people who know everything about everything? This is typical...bitch about the problem but offer no solution or viable alternative. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  23. Are YOU technically a citizen too, or some other kind? It seems that you have no problem in depriving technical citizens of their Constitutionally guaranteed rights. When I said he was technically a citizen I never said he wasn't a citizen, or a technical citizen. He is a citizen in the same way you or I am with a couple of very big exceptions...I don't think the government could make this statement about you... The Justice Department said last year that Padilla has told interrogators that before the September 11 terror attacks he met with al Qaeda's late military chief, Mohamed Atef, about the apartment bombing plot, and Abu Zubaydah, the terror group's accused operations chief who is now in custody, about stealing radioactive material to be used in a crude explosive device. ... and if they could make that statement about you I'd prefer they treat you the same way. Now, someone here will parrot the part about how the government can come and just take you away...tin foil hat and all. Please, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how they would have done it differently. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  24. I would not destroy the freedoms and protections afforded to me by the law in order to defend against some other threat OK...tell me what you would have done with Padilla. You know he's associated himself with terror organizations...he was no boy scout when he was in the US a few years back. You have some intelligence indicating he is planning a dirty bomb attack but you can't prove it and he just showed up at your front door asking to come into your country.
