I've got all the STTOS on tape, to include both pilots. I guess that makes me an ultra-geek. _________________________________________________ Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man- Sam Walter Foss

Welcome to the sky, your new playground. Don't worry about your size ( gravity likes me too ) Keep safety in mind and you will do fine. _________________________________________________ Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man- Sam Walter Foss

Notice my low jump numbers Due to financial considerations, I guess I am what you would call a "casual" skydiver. If I could I would be at the DZ every week but due to obligations and finances I jump about twice a month. I did AFF this way and have not progresed as fast as those who jump more frequently but even if my exits are not what I wanted and I PLF more often than not, I still love the jump. Jumping more frequently will be easier and your skills will improve faster, but do what you can do. As long as you stay current and don't endanger those on the load with you you will progress. The longer I wait between jumps, the more anxeity I have on my first jump of the day, but ones I leave the plane and get some "breeze between my knees" the troubles that I had seem to melt away. If it something you love you will find a way. Sorry for the long post. Good luck in the sky. _________________________________________________ Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man- Sam Walter Foss

I guess I am old school, but when I "give my word" it is as good as being written in stone. May be that doesn't go with today's "ethics", but it means a contract to me. _________________________________________________ Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man- Sam Walter Foss

DZ recruiting...your opinion please
Tailgate replied to justaflygirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I do not recruit people but those that know me know that when asked about skydiving, I will start talking a lot. I do not "recruit" people, but if they ask me I will tell them about my experience and also about the hazards. There are a couple of folks at work who are interested in doing a tandem. I only talk skydiving to them when they ask me about it, and always let them know that it is their choice. One individual, has a very young child and I pointed out the possible dangers when he asked me about tandems and AFF. I try to not encourage or discourage people, just tell them of my limited experience. if you are going into being a DZ recruiter, your job will be to get people to the DZ to jump at least a tendem. Not a bad gig. _________________________________________________ Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man- Sam Walter Foss -

Notice my low jump numbers I have done almost all my jumps out of an Otter or a Casa. My first AFF was out of a Casa. I didn't get the opportunity to jump a small plane till I started going to jump during the week. When I did my first 182 jump it was kind of nice. Not having all the others in the Air/pattern to watch for was noce. I did notice how cozy it is getting to altitude with 3 other jumpers in a 182. I will second what the folks here are advising. With all the jumpers in the air, most of whom will be on smaller faster canopies, keep your head and eyes moving. You will probably be pulling higher than most so you will have an opportunity to see the pattern the others are using. Also if there are tandems on the load they will probably be the ones that will be above you. At one DZ I jump , if there are a lot of tandems on the load, the DZO prefers the fun jumpers to not aim for the peas, just to stay out of the way of the tandems but it is a big landing area. But, considering my jump numbers, take this with a grain of salt. _________________________________________________ Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man- Sam Walter Foss
