Anybody tried polishing out scratches in their visors?
Andrelr replied to ErrHuman's topic in Gear and Rigging
Probably not a good idea on the G3, given the anti-fog coating on the visor -
Looking for 2 CRWdogs to join us in Dubai
Andrelr replied to Andrelr's topic in Canopy Relative Work
We’re a South African 2-way jumping in Dubai looking for 2 more teammates to make up a 4-way Rotation team to compete perhaps in DIPC or European competitions. We offer a fast, solid base pair that can rotate 4-way very competently. Who would be interested in meeting in Dubai for 4-day weekends every 2 months? We have 3 competition CRW Tri 135’s plus a Hybrid Tri 135 for camera use, but are willing to invest in other canopies to match. Please PM me if interested. -
Not blind luck at all - just some really good planning and execution. Check out the link below (dunno how to make it a clicky): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-RwUNQeB0k&feature=youtu.be

My first canopy was a Strato Flyer. Truly awful to land - especially when your DZ is at 5000'...

Paradrenalin coming to Jordan 1 to 17 March 2013
Andrelr replied to Andrelr's topic in Events & Places to Jump
This post is a bit late for people to plan a big trip out to Jordan, but Paradrenalin France are bringing their staff and Caravan out to Wadi Rum 1 to 17 March. There'll be the usual tandem/AFF offered and they will be fun jump friendly. If you will be in the area, or are based in the Middle East and want to jump in a real pretty place, then come and join us! -

25 JD per jump. www.skydivejordan.com has the other price detail. You going to be there? -
Skydive Dubai's Jordan Summer Boogie.
Andrelr replied to flytrybe's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Not sure about any Israeli skydivers, but given ease of access to the area from Israel, I'm sure there will be. Why not contact Skykef in Beer Sheba and see if any locals are going? Access is via Aqaba, either driving through the border post (Eilat and Aqaba are right next to each other), or flying to Aqaba Airport and arranging transport from there to Wadi Rum. Drop me a mail with your intended dates if you need transport and I'll see what I can do. -

Bumping this one to the top again. Only 3 more weeks before the Jordan Summer Boogie. 8-30 June. Come and jump in a particularly pretty place. www.skydivejordan.com -

Finally - some skydiving in my new country! I'll be there... -
Long Pete Mauchan was one of jumpers in the pic. He's still an active skydiver and DZ.commer. Try [email protected] for his e-mail address.
-
Wow, Pasi. Where did you get that pic from? Those were all guys I did CF with back then at Klerksdorp. I don't remember that jump, though.
-
Nothing current. I read reverything, then posted. Thanks for the advice, though...

Tiny country, few Middle East DZs, thus small DZ.com population. Merely casting the net wide. Thanks for the helpful comment, though...

Did you manage to jump in Jordan? Do you have contact details of any DZs/jumpers in Jordan? I'm moving out there next month.
-
Do you have an contact details of any jumpers/DZs in Jordan? I'm moving out there next month and need a place to jump regularly, if there is one out there.
-
I'm relocating to Jordan next month. Are there any DZs still operating out there or do I have to go to either Israel or Dubai to jump?
-
Is that DZ still there? I'm moving to Jordan next month, but can't find any sign of an active DZ or jumpers.
-
Did you ever manage to jump in Jordan? I'm moving there next month, but can't find any signs of an active DZ or active jumpers there.
-
I'm relocating to Jordan next month - where is the nearest DZ? All I can see from the DZ locater is that I would have to go to either Israel or Dubai. The DZ in Jordan appears to have closed down. Any info would be appreciated.

How big (how many persons) do you build stacks?
Andrelr replied to morris's topic in Canopy Relative Work
Hi Morris You plane the stack for stability. Unplaned stacks tend to sway as they are longer and pivot around the ankle/line grips on the centre cell. Planed stacks are shorter and far more stable. We built an 18-way planed stack in South Africa in 1988, and even that had quite a sway at the bottom. Cheers Andre -
I agree with Vectorboy. The linesets are the same. CRW Tris don't necessarily have non-cascaded outside A's. I had to have mine de-cascaded after purchase. An Aerodyne source informed me about the linesets when I asked him about the different flying characteristics.

I jump a Hybrid 135 as my freefall canopy and a CRW 135 as my CRW team canopy. You can certainly put them together without a problem, but be aware of the fact that the Hybrid is a "soft" canopy for CRW and cannot be abused as much as a CRW Tri. In addition, you probably have microlines with your Hybrid which means you shouldn't be doing hardcore CRW with it for obvious reasons. The noses of the canopies are different while the line configurations are the same. The Hybrid Tri lands much better than your CRW Tri. (My DZ is just over 5000' msl). Hope this helps.

Respect...

Doing something that hindsight and experience tells me was very stupid. I put my legs through the risers all the way so that the V of the risers was at my crotch. Once I was there, the other gouy cutaway. Obviously, had the canopies decided to downplane, this arrangment would have been pretty much impossible to get out of...

Two pics from 1989 - a ghostplane on my 1500th jump. Still the Cruislite days. Very bumpy and unstable to fly and land.
